  3. COVID19 and the current economic conditions has brought enormous challenges. Carnity has always been about building a community of people, sharing knowledge, and helping each-other in times of need. If you are personally affected by the unstable economic condition, and are providing services or items that might be interesting for other Carnity members, please share them in this topic. We will not use it as a promoting tool for businesses, but more as a communication portal so you can tell us which business you are in, how you are affected, and how your services might be of use for other Carnity members. We will moderate the content and remove posts which are not in line with above vision. Example: You own a shop that makes curtains and were heavily affected: Post a small message to introduce us to your shop, location, and what you can offer. Carnity members that might have been driving in the same convoy probably even never knew that you had a curtain shop and might start making inquiries to help and support each other. Lets just share our expertise and services and try to help each other, even more in these extraordinary times!

  5. Thanks @amro elshafey for all the info. I'm happy to hear that you have driven before in dunes. For tomorrow it is the newbie level (lowest one) and we do go through dunes, but nothing extreme and drastic pushing as at newbie level we stick to track and some dunes to have a good feel of desert and advance the learning phase. Without the LO gear it might be difficult, but though we are in Qudra which is always running parallel to tarmac track, so in case of any difficulty we can always exit out. And these things will show up in first 10-15 mins, so you are welcome to join tomorrow drive but please come with an open mindset, and we will do our best.

  8. We went to the one in Bidayer last year. I used to have a race spec 650 Banshee so their ATVs were a bit underpowered for me but it was my fathers first time on one and he enjoyed it a lot. If it’s your wife’s first time I would recommend doing this first and getting a feel for it before renting something and heading out into the open desert. They’re small automatics so you don’t have to worry about clutch or gears and a guide will teach you and lead you round gently so you can get a feel for it safely before you go for a more hardcore option. Here’s my father enjoying himself

  9. If you haven't replaced the radiator and have it just cleaned. That's not going to work. Having it cleaned or rodded personally has always been a big waste of time for me.. Like I said if you have changed the water pump. Thermostat and rad cap but you only said cleaned the radiator. Before throwing money at a head gasket ( without even confirming it ) I suggest change the radiator with a new one.

  10. Thanks @Rahimdad agree 100% of your advice, I have my car installed with transmission cooler and fan. Changed the transmission oil too. I will try this for few newbie drives if the overheating alarm problem will not show.

Please also advise if your VW Toureg is has the proper 4 high and 4 Low gear selection, or is it an All Wheel Drive, or has one of those knobs to decide what the vehicle is going to do.

  14. I’m sorry you’re having problems with shitty mechanics but it seems to be a common problem in UAE. A lot of people have very little technical knowledge and only seem to know jugad they have learned on the job. If you believe you have a small head gasket leak, insist on a chemical sniff test. It takes 2 minutes and will confirm if there is combustion gases in the coolant. Holes in pipes is easily tested by doing a coolant pressure test. In both of these cases, you will notice you’re coolant level going down. Have you noticed this? The level should be checked when the engine is stone cold. If you cant get the problem sorted send me a DM and I can have one of my guys look at it for you.

  22. Sorry man, definitely it is not 19 inch ground clearance πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it’s a mistake, I meant it is 9 inches and most probably it is 8-9 and yes it has a switch to off road mode similar to the one in the photo attached (photo from the internet) Off road switch

  23. That one seems to be there all the time. My workshop is just around the corner. I’m guessing one of the Ramy employees owns it because it’s there so much. One of my neighbours at home had a Rexton with the 2.7 engine. He drove it for maybe 10 years with no problems outside regular servicing. It was a pretty good 4x4 with good spec and a nice bit of luxury for what was a relatively unknown brand. He said it was the same engine as the ML but all the parts were slightly changed so the only interchangeable parts between the Rexton and ML were the head studs, how true this is I don’t know. I always believed they had the same engine but he told me this and I never had enough interest to check and confirm or deny it.

  24. Thanks @amro elshafey for the vehicle information. Have you driven your Touareg before in sand? As per edmunds it show 7.9 inches of ground clearance, that means you "HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL" while desert driving even at this newbie level. If you have some removable bumper skirt with some clips or few bolts, I highly suggest to remove it before coming for your vehicle safety. Please make sure it has front and rear tow hook or screw in tow hook available, as they are mandatory for any off-road drive.

  26. Sorry to hear all about this non sense and spending money with a big question mark and a doubt in the end. There are ways to identify and troubleshoot almost everything before changing all the parts and going with the assumptions only. Anyways, first and foremost move the car to other competent garage who know what they are doing. 30 minutes compression test can reveal all 6 cylinders health and also if there is any tiny or big leak in the head gasket. Once that is identified, get the head gasket repaired and back trace the cause of such overheat in the first place, to prevent blowing head gasket again. P.S. Who ever repair the head gasket, must be able to give you written warranty that you can drive the same car in the desert again because over 90% "SHADY" garages will walk away when you ask them to write anything. Be careful this time.
