Yes it may not be a basic "REQUIREMENT" for safari, race drivers, astronauts or pilots, but its the first and foremost requirement at carnity Off-road Club for various reasons: To have regular communication and not to leave newbie in a black hole of uneventualities. Newbies can respond back when they have any type of trouble: Refusal Stuck Overheating Warning sign Health issue Strange noises etc. Over 90% of newbie stucks get recovered with radio communication. Over 90% of lost track get back in line with radio communication. Lead relays the critical messages when some tricky bush, bowl, fence is in front to avoid. I can go thousand more whole day.

What @Javier M suggested seems to be a perfect fit for you if Radio call and securing safely is a concern for you. For me personally I wouldn't mind talking on radio every 15 minutes for few seconds than sticking earpiece for hours. What desertdude mention, is totally spot on, that radio communication is only important when you need it, otherwise learn to focus on what you are doing: hill climb, sidey or just cruising on sand than getting into temptation of replying immediately. We all are off-roaders here and fully understand that your safety is prime than replying back or acknowledge any message for next few seconds. Almost all radios have the belt clip, that you can put on your seatbelt at any comfortable level where you can hear the incoming message. For responding you can remove it and put it back after the conversation to avoid the canon ball fear. I see lot of people place radio in between their legs, clip it on something more stable like door handle or support handle etc. so you can try all options until you get comfortable with.

Most universal OBD scanner runs limited protocols, you can update the protocols by updating their software. I have seen even cheap 70 dhs Bluetooth scanner fetch pretty good data.

Nissan Xterra are one of the best "ready to use" "capable" offroader in stock shape without any modification. Try, if you can, go for an "offroad version" while you are buying one for specific need as it has firmer suspension, diff-lock and underbody protection.

And that will be way sooner than expected, as one of the reason for this Liwa visit to identify an area where we can take Intermediate and not always wait for advance level. With remaining season in hand we plan to have lot more drives posting in Liwa soon. Sizes, type of tread and quality of rubber determine price than marketing style. Once inside that range rest all is marketing jargon to promote that specific set of audience. For best all terrain tire I always recommend Yokohama Geolander AT, based on my own 8 years of experience with Geolander and 14 years in offroad. BFG, Cooper ATR or STT, Mickey Thompson are awesome tires for off-road: sand and rocks, looks, but very heavy to limit your hill climb unless your ride has power mods. Secondly very noisy on road and drop fuel mileage being heavy to rotate. Geolander AT are well balanced tires, to give awesome offroad performance and grip with very little road noise and little drop in fuel milage vs HT tires. Unless you have highly modified desert only toy, don't bother with aggressive treads.

Thanks @Barry and @desertdude I asked this coz some genius mechanic earlier argued for engine removing in my case, so I thought of bringing some clarity for @Sidshk.

I'm giving you basics, so you put it together however you need to decode. @Wrangeld is almost right on everything, Ill add few more clarity points. Any increase in tire size: width or height will help in increasing sand flotation to have bigger footprint, however length increase is tad better to give flotation + ground clearance (which is prime requisite in off-road). Width is better when you need to increase the center of gravity by widening your stance. Tire weight is the prime factor, that many people don't research, understand and factor as not many manufacturer like to share this data. Having bigger size tire, which is lighter than smaller tire is better for off-road long hill climb and better for fuel mileage because you have less weight on per axle to rotate. Tread size and pattern cause major difference in off-road and on-road (comfort and mileage) than tire size or weight alone. In your friend case 265 -275 is mere 1 cm width, that is TOTALLY NEGLIGIBLE for comfort, mileage, noise, offroad etc. unless you share more data of which tire brand, tread and size he used like 265/65/17. The more detailed information you share with your precise requirement, the better and productive advice you will get.

It's a engine rear main seal, quite prone to fail after certain life. It failed in my Pajero 2 years back too. Fixing it is painful long labor job so make sure you use original Mitsubishi seal, I think it cost 80-100 dhs. Labor might cost you 600-800 dhs (aweer rates), 1000+ (Al quoz rates). @Barry @desertdude and @treks please advise which option is less labor intensive to remove Engine or Gearbox, and also which one is less expensive in terms lubes and parts required? If engine is removed then will it need new coolant, engine oil, freon etc? or whole assembly can be pulled out? If removing gearbox, does it need new gear oil and filter too?

Maybe lot lower, depending on how and which option you take for parts: OEM vs first quality aftermarket. Also research on Arnott spring that come with lifetime warranty if they are available in UAE now. I researched briefly on Arnott for my older Range Rover but haven't got a chance to change EAS before I sold it.

For replacing alternator (dynamo) you have to wait for parts shop to source it or get scrapyard help. Im not sure what Abu Corniche is...? If you are in Abu Dhabi, get car on recovery to musaffah and you will still find parts, mechanic and maybe scrap yard. Thanks for coming back to break the suspense, please share the sticker which says 51 PSI, it's really weird. Does it show any other reading like 30 - 35 range under normal load....? Or just 51 at max load?

Yes we are camping on Friday night as driving back after the whole day drive will be very tiring. We will be camping closer to the road/track so anyone can leave after the drive as per their convenience.
