    Extreme drive, stuck and recovery like these make all of us grow stronger in time of need. None of us panic or lost ground instead kept on pouring healthy suggestion to get me out of that situation. Everyone kept a very cool head & stay focussed on actual problem but with safety in mind and at top priority. Such extreme recoveries also put a test to all our offroad gears and recovery tools and thankfully none of them broke. Many thanks to @Rahimdad @Asif Hussain @skumar83 and @EmVarlet for excellent teamwork and coordination.

    It was an epic day that ended with an epic and extreme recovery. If I really pushed I could have crossed the ridge but the blade was razor sharp and could have caused the flip from 200 meter tall dune. Better safe than sorry and I think it was an hour well spent pulling the Pajero from the third quarter. History repeats after 10 years as I have done same to a Jimny from a bowl near Pink rock - 1/20th of this bowl size.

    Excellent post with so much detailed explanation and procedure to help others. A true example of helping others and setting a new standard for people who can't find info and then don't post a thing after their self-discovery session.     Nice to hear from you @waqaszohair after a long time. Hope you are enjoying in Canada For the minus sizing, I honestly have no clue for ice terrain as I never lived in one. Last year I drove for a week in London a rented BMW and my brother's Discovery and realize that tires for snow and ice terrain have some great relevance as BMW probably has all weather tires and mostly skidding on corners a lot, as compared to Discovery that has winter tires.

    How many times have you seen? Please answer this honestly I have driven stock Jimny on 3 different occasions and "FAILED" to bring her out from a massive bowl by doing endless sideys and it was just dying at 80% of bowl height and never made it out on its own. Then brought to a closest point and winch her out with my Patrol

    @Olivier Refalo you can still join the drive with anyone of us a passenger. You can drop your car at meeting point and we can pick up after the drive. We have done this many times before, atleast you will get feel of drive with an experienced offroader.

    Hi @Panda82 welcome to Carnity and its offroad club. There are no charges for these drives, and the only thing you pay back is to pass the help and knowledge you come along. We all drive together and share the offroad passion in this community. Just bring whatever you like to eat / cook (bbq) with little extra to share and stories to tell. This drive is kid's friendly drive just make sure kids are fastened properly during the drive. All newbies: If you have the radio, please bring along and we will explain how to use in newbie brief thoroughly.

    depends.......! Most intelligent Automatic gears is much better than manual gear, they shifts in nano milliseconds. And 1.3-liter mate with auto or gear doesn't matter, it will be damn sluggish for real dune bashing. Just like Patrol misconceptions in the market, whatever Jimny you see flying on dunes are mated with 1.6 or 1.8L engine that fits without any modifications and RTA also accepts it as it from the same manufacturer and under same 4 cylinder range.

    So true, for a desert toy it's too expensive now. For folks who only buy zero km for desert seems a good deal

    Yes I just spotted one more in same location, seems like a stock fitment and may be previous owner removed it for some reason.

    Welcome @BIG T to Carnity and its offroad club. Your user ID reminds me of an offroad legend who I have met on my first offroad drive back in 2006 - Taimur. Hope your Xterra is GCC and comes with front and back tow hook, unlike the US spec...? @EmVarlet will be your special friend with another Xterra in the club, I guess his X is 2013

    While coming from lunch took a walk through huge parking lot and spotted a JGC to understand the rear sealed bumper. Looks like this type of add on tow hook you might need Btw, Porsche Cayenne has screw type tow hook at front and back. The Range Rover has tow hook hidden inside the plastic flap which can be open by coin or flat screwdriver easily in 2 minutes.

    OK, that's very weird. Try to see if you can open this lower segment of the plastic flap by some cross screws underneath?

    A very good way of building the solutions than just problem asking pattern. I'm sure last Barry helped on Oct 14 and today Nov 29, so there must have been a long story that @kumara have gone through, let's wait to hear from him

    Sorry about that, but show us the rear bumper pic, without any flap I still feel we can attach a shackle at least in the eyelet of trailer hitch joint We do have metal shackle and soft shackle like a small piece of rope that can actually pass through tight eyelet even

    I know and agree from where you thinking, but with mechanical parts usually look will tell a lot of history. As before this half cut, I got my Pajero axle from scrap that lasted a good 2-3 year with regular offroad use. Dealer needed 2 months to wait for special order and 3000 dhs whereas scrap gave for 100 dhs instantly, as it was a least moving item for them and they were very happy to find me a clean one from a bunch of 20 axles.

    @Emil enjoy your long weekend quickie @Olivier Refalo welcome to Carnity and it's offroad club. Good to see such educated and concerned offroad enthusiast who care to read and share the facts before the drive, which saves everyone time and hassle. Without the tow hook, I'm afraid we can't allow anyone on any offroad drive as tow point is the only place with which we can rescue you in case there is any stuck. Of course, we do have all recovery gears and equipment but without tow point everything is waste, hope you understand that it's for your own good and safety. Like @Rahimdad said check in the rear there must be some provision for hitch under some plastic cover, google how to open that cover and show us the picture so that we can advise if we can attach a shackle on that or not. Due to some family commitment, my family will be joining in later part with my Range. And just now I was down to check how to open that stupid plastic flap to access the front and rear tow point as I haven't taken my Range to offroad yet.

    Not all used driveshafts are fully used. I have recently bought a half cut Japanese Pajero with 68K on the odometer, still, most of the parts are in good nick and fully usable.
