@vishlad702  I just replaced my front shock absorbers a month ago and I let Autopro to replaced it for me rather than Habtoor. You will got a good labour discount (50%) if maybe you purchased the DSF Nissan Patrol promotion raffle coupon (Etisalat, Du, Salik card).

Just a suggestion in case your concern with the budget too. I recommend Auto Pro Al Nahda 1, there were two technicians there that worked from Mitsubishi Habtoor and they handle the job very well.

    >Habtoor Quote = 3490AED

    > Auto Pro with the 50% Labour discount, I payed: 2500AED

You paid 2500 for 2 shocks? What were they made of? It costed me 480 dhms to replace my front shocks with protection of which 390 dhms was for material and balance for labor.

@vishlad702 if you aren't using the car for offroading and previously happy with the stock setup, my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION is to stick to original Mitsubishi shock setup to not to open a big can of worms come with another shock unless they are the direct replacement.

@Praveenmp same goes for you but halfway as you are offroading and with this shock change opportunity you can look into upgrading to stiffer suspension or adjustable setup to have best of both worlds: Soft for road + hard for offroad. In your case moving away from stock suspension is better and advisable but do your research on various brands like Tough dog, Ranchos, Old Man, Rough Country, Dobinsons, Kings etc. to see what price point you are looking at.

Hi Gaurav! Thank you for your advise! Over past 2 days I have approached some garages and one name which popped out the most was KYB. Are they any good?

  3. I have a Pajero 2015, 3.5 ltr V6.

So I had this severe dashboard rattle which started sometime back. I suspected the tyres and got them checked at multiple shops with all of them saying that the tyre has got some life left.

However this week the rattling was unbearable at any small dips or on even slight variations on the road. I thought to get my shocks checked once for any leakages or any damage to the shocks. The culprit was found. The right front shock had a broken bush and the left one was not behaving normal. The left shock absorber behaviour could be because the right bush was broken and the left felt a bit harder than the right. However the mechanic advised me to change the front shock for both the sides. He gave me an estimate of 540 Dhms for parts (from Habtoor) and labour would be extra.

I have always felt that he Original Mitsubishi shocks were not so good at dampening. I am also thinking to get the rear ones changed as well.

    So my queries are

    a) Do I need to go for OEM Shocks?

    b) Is it also recommended to change the top mount for shocks?

    c) Any 3 brands which can replace the shocks in Pajero. I do not take my Pajero offroad and hence comfortable ride is a priority on road.

    d) Price range for front and back pair.

    c) Where do I get these from?

    Thank you

Hello, my Pajero just crossed 160K and the 40K service is due. Could you please help me with the garage you used for the service

    Hi,

I stay in RAK so I can refer to Garages in RAK only. I doubt that would not be helpful.

Oxygen sensor isn’t a service thing. Only needs changed if it isn’t working, which will bring on the engine warning light.

Theres no harm in changing the fuel filter, check out this video of one I pulled out of a Bentley a while back. See how black the fuel is coming out. Fuel quality here isn’t the best.

That scares me out. Looks like Crude oil.. Will have to get it done immediately.

Hi Randhir! I have changed my phones and unfortunately I do not have the contact to share. However the person was recommended by @Barry

I remember that the workshop was beside Barry's Ghost Tint workshop. @Barry could you kindly pass on the contact once more to Randhir so that he can speak to the person. Thank you!

  6. Hello everyone,

I recently got the 120K service done. Habtoor quoted me 3200 Aed for what they called as Major service for which they would basically be replacing all fluids in the car. Got it done outside for 1000 AED which covered

    a) Engine Oil and filter - Total 5W30 Synthetic oil.

    b) Differential oil change - front and rear

    c) Coolant Change

    d) Brake Oil Change(Toyota brand DOT 3)

    e) All spark plugs were replaced by new ones (NGK Brand). Apparently some of them were changed earlier but I asked them to change all 6 of them.

    f) Air filter replaced

The only things left out was the fuel filter and the oxygen sensor. For the fuel filter they asked me to come back again in 2 months and for oxygen sensor they informed me that it is not required. My query now would be that apart from the above list do I need to get any other thing inspected when I go back in 2 months for fuel filter. Another query is whether or not the fuel filter really needs to be changed at 120K?

    Regards.

Thanks @vishlad702 for the pop up.

The dashboard noise is what I got since my purchase last October. I have read many forums and seen YouTube videosthat suggest that feeling road bumps and roughness is a matter with every Pajero. It makes rattling noise only on rough road.

May be I feel it as I never drove SUV before n have other car as Accord which is quiet n smooth.

Is this garage owned by Mr. Mohsin as adcisedbby @Barry from where you got the work done?

    Hi.

If the noise is only on rough terrain I would not bother much.

The garage is not owned by Mr Mohsin. He works there as the service manager. And yes @Barry has suggested to get the timing belt replaced there.

Thanks @Barry for your recommendations. So, should I go for Mitsubishi or Gates timing belt and where can I get it in Sharjah?

Also, I need your recommendations of some garage in Sharjah for this work in AED 1.5-2K please.

Any advise on who can help me in Sharjah/Dubai to fix dashboard noise. It doesn't produce any noise on smooth roads but only while moving over humps or think yellow lines found mostly on road turns in Dubai. Does anyone fix the metal brackets here?

Did this noise develop off late or was always there? Please elaborate.

On timing belt it is your decision to go with whatever you want. You can buy either of the two as suggested by Barry. Personally I would prefer the Mitsubishi ones.

Regarding garages in Sharjah, you can visit "Fantastic Auto Maintenance". Heard some nice things about them from my colleagues.

  9. Update on timing belt replacement

So i was finally able to change the timing belt. I dropped my car on 26 May and collected it today. The parts that were changed was the timing belts, idler pulley and the spark plugs. All the items were original and this was doubly ensured by Mohsin. The total was AED 1155. However if you have some additional work please factor in the same. I did not get the the general servicing (such as engine oil change and air filter change) as I had a contract with Habtoor till 120K on my odo.  The water pump in my vehicle had no issues hence they did not replace the same.

I have not experienced any difference in driving after the change. They informed me that the new timing belt will work till another 120K Kms on the odo.

Due to Ramadan, the service center functions from 7.30 am to 1.30 am. In case you drop your car at 7.30 sharp then you may be lucky to get it back the same day. The work requires a min of 6 hours. I would advise you not to be in a hurry since good work on cars takes time.

Since I stay in RAK, I dropped the car yesterday and collected it today. I rented a Toyota Yaris from Al Quoz from Belhasa for a day.

The overall experience was positive. Special thanks to Barry for suggesting a workshop. I could not catch you up this time since I had to rush to RAK for an emergency. I would surely drop in the next time am there.

@vishlad702Please share your experience of changing the belt through Mr. Mohsen (referred to by Barry). I would like to know where is the location, how much did it cost and what parts are included in the replacement deal?

So I just called Mr Mohsen and I am visiting there for the replacement on this Saturday.

He did not give me any costing over the phone which is fine for me. Shall give you the feedback once the work is completed.

  11. Tyres come with a time and km limit whichever is earlier i.e Odo reading alone should not be the deciding factor for changing the tyre. Tyres become harder as temperature fluctuates and even if you have a lower Odo reading which is the case here. You should consider changing the tyre if you have had them for 2 years.

Now on the tyre brands we need to be aware that most of the brands now outsource their business with their specification. One of the lesser known brands would be Maxxis which has given me a satisfactory performance till date. So as an alternate to the big names you can go in for them which would be a value for money proposition.

Check out the Maxxis Tyre Review in Australia. The tyre name from Maxxis that you are looking is called Trepador. I have had conversations with couple of land cruisers owners who were happy with the brand. This was important for me to make a decision on the brand change

The bluetooth function does not work properly. While talking on the phone through the bluetooth suddenly the bluetooth will get disconnected and after a few seconds again get connected. Tried different mobile phones but the result is the same.

Coming to your problem, I have had an iphone which had no issues abosolutely. Couple of months back when i switched on to Android, i started facing this problem. It could be more of a phone update thing with android since there are many android users who are facing the exact same issue. Alternatively you can ask in your dealer to upgrade the firmware for the device if available
