@Fuad good decision, but before you make the purchase make sure it's in a fairly good condition and do share with us what mods you have in mind and share your homework with us as to what mods, what brand and why you opt for it.

Yeah will do. Wanna do it like the same with my friend.

    Trip report:

Great day, great people, loads of smiles, patience and enthusiasm. Initially we had decided to split the convoy, to newbie and Fewbie levels, but since we had very few Fewbie we decided to have both the convoys together with an imaginary split. As my newbie drives are we started with some easy track and gradually increased the level. Mostly everybody managed it well with a few refusals to add to our learning process.

We unfortunately had I little incident with the FJ Cruiser where the radiator was hit, thanks to some technical help at hand and @Gaurav bhai who stayed back to help, the rest of the convoy followed me to our play ground. Here we had a few experienced individuals try out the sideys. It was a lot of fun and had a false alarm where @eduardo Pajero had its jump quota after a long time and started weeping out of joy. Soon we established that there was nothing to worry about and moved on to our breakfast point.

After a quick bite and some jokes cracked we had to pack up and move out due to Friday prayer time. By this time @Gaurav bhai had joined us. We headed to the road, prayers and finally the petrol station where some of us inflated to head home, while others headed back to the afternoon Fewbie drive. All in all a good day and thank you to all for joining. With special thanks to @yogic72 for being my second lead, @Gaurav, @Srikumar, @Emmanuel, @eduardo and @Fuad for supporting the drive. Until next time adios amigos.

It was very fun packed day with lot of learning. Critical incident was well handed by @Gaurav , @Srikumar , @Emmanuel@Rahimdad There is lot more to learn from you guys.

Chitchat moments in between the refusals, recoveries, breakfast was all fun and it makes us a family.

May be i will be the one driving 130+ for every drive to meet you guys. Its always worth drive.

@eduardo you had a jump quota.!! I missed it.

Looking forward to meet you all.

Happy to be part of Carnity.

I have always used a OEM air filter for my Jeep. If you are referring to the cheaper after market ones then I would say definitely forget it, as you wouldnt want to take the risk of sanding entering your engine while offroading.

Regarding the performance air filters, like K&N, they work with the principal of letting your car breathe easier, which in a way means that more sand can enter your engine. Also, there is a huge headache of cleaning the air filter after each drive as it gets choked with sand. The only person I know who is using a K&N air filter in our group is Gaurav, and I dont think he also feels there is a big difference compared to the headache of weakly cleaning.

I was preferring the Performance Dry Flow air filters preferably AEM for Pajero

Having a refusal or getting completely stuck is something nobody should feel guilty about, since it's part of the off-roading game. It’s also an essential experience in your learning. Somehow, as long as you can understand what happened so you won’t repeat the same mistake over and over, it’s a must to improve.

There are hundreds of reasons why you can get stuck. Some of them don’t directly depend on the driver (it can be related to an engine issue, the terrain, the climate, etc.), while others are just mistakes. Some of them are clear and obvious, others are more unpredictable and difficult to identify…

As a big fan of @Rahimdad’s What Went Wrong ? thread, it came to my mind that we could simply adapt his brilliant idea by analyzing, not accidents, but stucks, and try to make together a list of all the possible reasons behind them.

Please do share here your guesses, explanations... and videos.

I’ll start easy, with one of my best stucks this year, which happened in Area 53 two weeks ago (I borrowed the footage from @Javier M).

So... who can tell us why I got stuck here ?

And @Javier M was able to manage because he had some distance between for quick reaction.

The penalty for no show is 20 Aloo Paratha's / Belgian Chocolates / Fresh Coconut / Mexican Mezcal

    Just kidding.

You can sign up anytime you like and show up for a drive, we aren't desert safari company. In the calendar, you can even decline or join as you please, even on Friday morning.

Although it's a family drive ending with BBQ, everyone is welcome to come alone or with family - as they like.

For first absolute newbie drive, you are better off alone tbh as per my experience so that you can focus on learning with undivided attention but it's completely your choice in the end.

    Penalty is too much. 😭😭😭

Here is the easiest, fastest and safest way to fix a tyre pop out in less than 5 minutes:

    Tools required:

    1. Wooden plank/Jack board/plate
    2. Hydraulic Scissors Jack
    3. Air Compressor
    4. Shovel
    5. Water

    Steps involved:

    1. Move the vehicle "VERY SLOWLY" to flat ground. If you do it fast, then the inner (behind the tire) seam will also come out and make the pop out repair more difficult and sometimes impossible.

    2. Find a good jacking point and place a big wooden plank just under it - on perfectly flat ground. You can move the board a few times to flatten the sand so that jack sits on the flat ground.

      image.png

    3. Place the jack on the board safely and lift the jack, just enough to regain the tire shape and then dig little under the tire. If you lift too much, then chances of tipping the jack are higher.

      image.png

      image.png

    4. Clean the open seam properly with water, run the fingers inside to make sure no sand is sticking inside the tire as that will leak the air while inflating.

      image.png

    5. Inflate the tire with the air compressor and hold the open seam outward with little strength. Don't shake or use too much strength as jack might tip. When seam starts sitting in place, you will hear a loud/soft pop that means tire seam has been properly seated in its place and you can drive back normal.

    SAFETY WARNINGS:

    1. If you have a jack stand, use it under the axle. If you have a spare jack use it under the axle for safety.
    2. While the vehicle is lifted with jack, avoid any jittery move like slamming the door, closing the hood, getting in or out the car, this might cause jack to tip and cause serious injuries.
    3. While the vehicle is lifted with jack, NEVER EVER put your head, hand, legs or any body part under the car or under the tire. You can fix the tire from the side as shown in the picture above.

    Wow. 👍🏻

The 16-inch tire is better for offroading, but 17 inch is also not too bad. You can upgrade to an inch height more to get more rubber and a bigger footprint in 17 inches. I had 17 on my LC and with Michelin if perform really well.

Yokohama Geolander and Michelin are my two favorite brands. Geolander gives you best for offroading for rocks and sand with minimal road noise. Michelin will give you best in the sand (not much on rocks) with no road noise.

Instead of wasting money on downsizing rim, you can look into lifting the car by 2 inches either by offroad suspension or by a spacer (separate topic to discuss).

    Yokohama Geolander At3 G012 or G015 ?

@Fuad I don't remember you having a pop out with us, did you venture out on your own? We normally carry a plank of wood, with a proper heavy duty scissor jack, some rough water and a good air compressor for pop outs.

I had a pop out on drive with pajero group and had the worst pop out. We were not able to fix back it on 3 attempts as tyre doesn't fully got back to rim on side.
