Dear Desertnauts @J-P L, @Eddie-Dune-Glider, and @Rajath Shetty. Thanks for joining the drive. No need for a lenghty briefing. I'll post the meeting point in the drive's thread; in any case it will be December 2nd Cafeteria, just off of Pink Rock. We'll improvise the convoy on the spot but still make sure to reach and deflate so we may start as close to 3:30 as possible. See you all tomorrow to enjoy a quick and compact convoy.

We request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette and responsibilities. MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquettes Emergency details for all off roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 03:30 pm (departure time) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jmRFETRPQD85V5ph9 Action Plan: "Star dunes are rare, pyramid-shaped sand dunes with arms that stretch out from a center point. They make up less than 10% of desert sand dunes on Earth, grow up to 300 meters tall, and also exist on Mars and Saturn's moon Titan." Without having to go as far as Titan, the closest such star dune rising from the desert plain are as close as Sharjah, more specifically in the area between Pink Rock and Al Madam. We'll spend this coming Friday afternoon climbing these tall, star shaped dunes. The summer heat may have been keeping sun-setters and locals away from these climbs, which we hope to tackle on as clean slopes as possible. Get ready to make your engine roar, while at the same time be prepared to use as much finesse as possible in navigating the curvy slopes and bowls i and between these "rising stars". What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 07:00 PM (at sunset) P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. RECOMMENDED OFF-ROAD GEAR: Tire deflator & Tire pressure gauge Compressor (MANDATORY) Walkie-talkie radio (MANDATORY) Off-road flag (MANDATORY) Shovel, Tow Rope & 2 Shackles First-aid kit Fire extinguisher. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 12 PM. If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list. RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list. Latecomers will be returned - Without any exceptions. Members without RSVP will be returned - Without any exceptions. Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others. Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month. PLEASE RSVP ON THE CALENDAR

Hi @J-P L. It works for me. I am attaching the screenshot from my Google Maps, if it may help others. If someone still cannot open the link, these are some directions: - after filling up the tank at Qudra's Last Exit ADNOC station, take the Saih Al Salam road toward Al Lisaili; - pass 2 roundabouts going straight - after driving 1.2 Km from the second roundabout you will see a dirt patch and road on the right of the tarmac: that's the meeting point.

Dear Desertnauts. First of all, find attached the meeting and deflation point on the drive's main thread (at the top of this page), and here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/kxr76FNchyMoFPuu8 Secondly, kindly remember to 1) reach the meeting point with a full tank, 2) make sure you have a flag, without which nobody is allowed to join the drive and 3) remember to bring a fully charged radio. The drive will be planned to allow each driver to practice, first alone then all together as a moving convoy, the main skills necessary to tackle a desert drive. Also, a thorough briefing will be conducted before we start the drive, to point out all the notions required to execute the drive safely. The convoy positions will be as follows: @J-P L in Second Lead @Shane Phillips at #3 @Nikhil Jethani at #4 @Jakob T at #5 @Lvc at #6 @DELRIO at #7 @Giacomo at Center @baris at #9 @Esteban Ayala at #10 @Nagarjun S at #11 @Artur Davtyan at #12 @Avilash at #13 @Asif Ahamed at #14 and @Yerem Davtyan in Sweep. Please reach the meeting point before 3:30 PM, so we may depart on time, after having deflated and held the briefing. See you tomorrow afternoon. have a nice evening.

Dear @Shane Phillips. Thanks a lot for joining the drive. A couple of things, as you are an Absolute Newby with Carnity. First, please make sure you have gone through the briefing video posted in the drive's thread. Secondly, can you please let me know if you have any previous experience with off-roading on sand? There will be an extended briefing before the drive begins, but any information you may share about your experience will be valuable. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Have a nice evening.

MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities First time with Carnity Off-road Club: Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Color, and Year. Do you have any prior off-road experience? If yes, pls share details. Confirm your vehicle has front and rear tow hooks/eyelets. Advise if you don’t have a programmable radio and safety flag. MUST WATCH: NEWBIE VIDEO BRIEFING Drive Details Level: Newbie and above Meeting time: 03:30 PM Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/kxr76FNchyMoFPuu8 Action Plan: Beginner off roaders usually need to familiarize themselves with a few key maneuvers and skills, necessary to drive on sand (even if they have been off-roading on mixed and rocky terrains). These driving skills, at a minimum, are 1) straight crossing of dunes, 2) side sloping and 3) ridge riding (in this case it will be on wide, not dangerous, ridges). On top of these, we'll look into easy self-recovery maneuvers. Each of these skills will be presented, demonstrated and practiced, individually, by each member, so that they may leave the drive having gained a more in-depth knowledge of the essential elements of sand driving. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 07:00 PM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE: This drive is limited to 12 cars only. RSVP will close on Saturday at noon. If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist. Once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list. RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list. Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others. Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month. Please RSVP on below calender

Dear Desertnauts. A very short and quick briefing for tomorrow's drive. We aim to spend 2 hours driving at good pace (say as close as possible to 30 Km/h. moving speed), equally divided between the clean dunes of south Lisaili and the secret dunes of Qudra. We'll take a couple of breaks, and will hopefully enjoy a nice sunset hour, close to the lakes and the herds of gazzelles that usually sprint out of the woods at this time of the day. The convoy order at the moment will be the following: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Rajath Shetty at #3 @Yerem Davtyan at #4 @Warbs at #5 @Chema at #6 @Steffi at #7 @Giacomo at Center @Ana at #9 @saumik1989 at #10 @Thomas54675 at #11 @khurram at #12 and @Piter at #13 and @J-P L in Sweep. See you tomorrow in mid-afternoon to enjoy the golden hours on golden sand.
