  1. Great tips as usual on this thread from all the experienced people. Kudos. Well we all know the fun part being in the drives for some time, but you all have done more for sure and you know very well what it takes to get out from a difficult situation. That's what matters and probably it gets more serious and comes with more responsibility that you progress in the experience. I am telling this after seeing few difficult situations where we all as a convoy group came out on road well in time . Great learning 👍
  2. I had signed for sweihan which is now changed to Qudra morning. I am already signed in when I check the RSVP, please clarify @Srikumar. Wallah habibi... no vacancies everywhere 🤣😉!
  3. I would like to add my name to the waitlist for this fewbie drive. @Emmanuel please let me know if any vacancy arises. This current global crisis is causing no vacancies everywhere 🤣
  4. Yes @Kalahari it was probably sensible that we got something to drive carefree in desert... Uglier the better and you are more "less" bothered! If you know what I mean:-))😉 I have the AOr suction cup and flag already. But if you can get some bracket , I feel it's more rigid and strong which will not fall off.Suction cup needs some correct technique to apply each time
  5. Probably needs to rearrange location as there is movement restriction into and out of Abu Dhabi region??
  6. @Janarthan and @RohanH you will end up paying more money with dubizzle which you can get it done from an ordinary mechanic. All the running costs of a bigger franchise are included in what is being charged to you. Considering that you are buying a pretty old car without worrying much about the interiors /paint/ luxury inside, every penny saved is worth it. You can as well use the same money saved to get it thoroughly serviced / for parts. You need a good advise regarding the mechanicals which any other garage/mechanic will do for a much cheaper price. Some garage even deduct that money if you get the car serviced from them once you buy it. Personally once you start inspecting the cars on your own, you will also learn a lot if new things which will make you have a better knowledge to do some things in future on your own. If you are worried about the current covid precautions and not willing to take risk ,then yes you can go ahead with dubizzle assisted buying or report as there is someone else doing it for you. But if you adhere to proper precautions, then it is still possible to do it yourself Good luck and stay safe
  7. @Jun Zamora I dont have much info with regards to Jeep but from what I have heard from friends who do regular works at garage suggest Marshall Auto at Umm Ramool or Off Road Zone at Alquoz. ( No conflict of interest here ) Probably with summer getting even hotter as days go by you need to get it sorted for sure. Cheers
  8. Nicely done @Emmanuel well supported by @Ale Vallecchi and @Wrangeld. Thanks for the tug when I crested . All in all a fun drive which was truncated due to the restrictions. May be we can start by 3 pm next time around to have some more fun ?. @Jun Zamora I hope you jeep is sorted soon . I wonder if you need to add a extra fan or something to prevent the transmission overheating. Thanks to everyone
  9. Hi @Emmanuel. I will be driving patrol y62 as the xterra is being serviced. Informing you if you want to readjust the convoy . Thanks
  10. If you like the pajero, may be you can look at the older SWB options which you will get for a good price. Maintenance should not be very steep and since you already drive a Pajero , you would feel more at home.
  11. Well I decided to go for it after constant bashing at home after dune"bashing"... more so because I want to keep the 2nd car for desert and play around without worrying much ( while in the desert and when I return home). Budget is always an issue , but try to get the best for the cheapest. Shortlist few and get them thoroughly checked - especially as Sri mentioned - engine, transmission, gears and chassis... keep few AED (in Ks) aside for the compulsory servicing etc that needs to be done before you bring it to the desert.
  12. Hi @Frederic. Single drive per person rule is still on? I wasn't aware of this as I checked in the description where it wasn't mentioned one drive per person per day . In that case I will join for the afternoon fewbie drive only. Thanks
  13. AOR suction mount (~ 250AED)is pretty sturdy provided the seal is on clean surface/glass. Best is to use few drops of water for a tight seal which will not fall off while driving. AOR flag ( ~ 200AED)is heavy but of the best quality . If you can get some custom made flag mount brackets (see picture attached , it is for a roof rack)probably will work out cheaper and sturdy. But you will have to check if it suits your vehicle
