@Shehab Alawadhi no need for you to remind me of spending 4 hours with you and @Arman. I do believe that after all these years what makes a trip worth for me is the people on the trip and I like nothing more than a banter and the spirit both of you bring on the drives. But I can see the energy flow through the forum too and loving every bit of it. Continue with your drama, I will not interfere, just enjoy the show with some pop-corn sitting on my comfy sofa.

@Rahimdad for sure you will get more banter from @Arman and I. We loving making people laugh and makes the mood light and joyous. You will have more performances from Arman and I inshallah!

Hey @Shehab Alawadhi and @Arman, I heard of Drama Queens, but you guys are much better performers.

@Rahimdad see us as cousins we are a different type, we love banter and lavish performances. If you were to spend 24 hours with @Arman and I either you will have gone crazy, or you wont be able to breathe from laughter. That's the type of cousins we are, we crack jokes and mess around and most certainly don't act our age, but when seriousness is required then we can be the most serious of a people.

Yes @Shehab Alawadhi the meeting time will be 7:00 AM, as what I meant by "later than usual" is 30 minutes later than all other Carnity drives so far, which are starting at 6:30AM. So please, all drivers, plan to be at the meeting point no later than 7:00AM. Thanks a lot.

alright sweet, no problem. Thank you! see you there @Ale Vallecchi

    Dear Desertnauts,

A few words about this exploration drive planned for next Saturday.

The idea to develop a "Sea to Mountain" route came to me after driving the first portion of this itinerary (before joining Carnity). That drive seemed nice at the time, and indeed it still is extremely interesting, even though the vegetation in the area has exploded since more than 1 year ago, changing the look and feel of the area. That first route was then tested in October. In two different drives, we managed to go from the seaside (next to Barracuda Resort) to almost E611 (even though the access has been sealed off since 2019, and we had to exit back on E311), then from an entry point close to the Ritz-Carlton Desert Resort all the way south to Al Ghail Indutrial Area, just at the foothills of the Ajari Mountains.

Hence, the second leg of the "Sea to Mountain" route, which we'll cover on Saturday, has been renamed "Sand to Mountain". The area we wish to explore is relatively large, and is criss-crossed by several tracks, leading in and out of it, connecting several farms with the major tarmac roads surrounding it.

After the first two drives, with Intermediates and Fewbies, we have chosen to open the drive to Newbie drivers as well. This is to give all of you the opportunity to experience the double-edged sword of an "absolute first" drive, where the excitement of the exploration may be balanced by the challenge of driving in an unusual surrounding, completely different than our customary, purely sand based, stomping grounds.

Free ranging camels, wild donkeys, longitudinal (Seif) dunes that suck your car down into their molasses-like sand, and, most amazingly, wide open plain areas with the look and feel of a savannah. This are some of the amazing situations and sights we will find and see during this exploration drive. The off-roading skills that will be tested are, in particular, finesse and control driving, hoping that at the end of the drive each of you should have gained a little more experience and knowledge about themselves, their relationship with their car, and the nature in which we'll be driving.

    @Alphin Aloor, @Federico De Chirico, @Mike Kraher, @Saneesh Thomas, @Niki Patel, @Shehab Alawadhi, @Arman, @Baskaran P.R, @Federico Galbieri, @Harold Roberts, @frederic demolder and @Ben84, I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, AT 7:00 AM.

    Have a nice week.

Cant wait, good thing I bought a stand for my phone to record the while drive in time-lapse mode. also the time was changed again to 7:00AM? didn't it originally say "7:00 AM (SHARP-Without any exceptions) - PLEASE NOTE: Meeting time is 30 MIN. LATER than usual"

just to confirm its now 7AM (so there is no confusion)

@Arman it is always good for a lead to know that the participants are enthusiastic enough to ask. On my drive @Shehab Alawadhi pointed that out that he likes to be in sweep. After getting good reports from all the Marshals he has driven with, I decided to allow him there. Again he has been very expressive to try out the second lead as I have promised him after seeing him this Friday. So mention what you feel like and if we find you to be able to concentrate on the drive and take care of others we will give you that chance too.

I’m enthusiastic to learn everything. Everyone needs a plethora of skills in life. Inshallah I’ll do my best as your second lead soon! I will also make sure not to destroy the track behind me 😂

AH the coveted sweep position, the best thing about it being you can somewhat deviate from the normal path unlike the center where you have keep things consistent for the guys down back, despite the rougher terrain i could spend all day there. Besides my usual guests are all photographers and convoys look best from the back :D

@Wrangeld how does one guarantee this position for themselves as often as possible?

Ah yes my cousin, whom sadly I couldn't talk to much or joke around like w usually do:sad:, since I'm either behind him or he would be behind me. I MISSED YOU @Arman

@Shehab Alawadhiyou were brilliant. I really enjoyed working with you. I want to drive with you again, soon.

For sure likewise, and just as a side note I drove a 2 door Pajero last night (nothing too serious we just wanted to get to a place and that person didn't trust themselves to drive in the sand.) so I got in the car, turned on 4 wheel drive, I didn't even reduce air pressure in the tires and the Pajero was floating on the sand, I didn't even need to give any gas. now I know why I see so many 2 door Pajero drivers.

  8. I had a great drive being in sweep as always. I think everyone should drive in sweep at least one time just to make their drive more challenging 😉. @Rahimdad thank you for being an amazing lead, I loved your banter and jokes over the radio, I'm sure half of the time I was laughing instead of driving. @Wrangeld thank you for joining the drive, the briefing was hilarious and I loved every moment of it. Your self recover guidance was even better. I hope I made you proud for being in sweep @Rahimdad, I learned a lot from both @Rahimdad and @Wrangeld that day.

No worries @Shehab Alawadhi, it is a pleasure to hear from you.

After reading your message I literally fall on the floor laughing and my family now thinks they need to admit me at the mental hospital, I guess we are alike.

Insha Allah I will try to make a good lead and try not to trouble you so much, hope I can make you proud as your lead and I too continue to learn from our great Carnity team.

I think we will become good friends and drive mates for n the future inshallah.

Inshallah soon one day I will go from sweep to second lead so I can learn to navigate better in the virgin desert sands and to make better decisions and choose better route options.

Inshallah everyone will be proud and enjoy you leading the drive as much as I know I will in sweep! Hope I can get a few amazing pictures of all our cars, thankfully I have my uncle with me to be my Camera man 😂

  10. @Rahimdad sorry I haven’t been replying or reacting. I’ve been super busy this week. I was waiting for the convoy line up and when I saw I was in sweep I literally jumped and shouted in joy, my family thought I was crazy 😂. I can’t wait for tomorrow.

Im sad for the people that left the drive due to their personal things and hello to all the other people joining. @Thomas Varghese I was hoping to take some nice car pictures with you, but inshallah next time we will get to drive together.

@Rahimdad inshallah I will make you proud as a your sweep team, I hope to learn more from the whole Carnity team!

  11. I am speechless on what I just read. I was imagining in my mind just people sitting around a campfire and @Ale Vallecchi just telling stories. I miss the times where we could all gather in giant group and bbq or make a giant bonfire and talk or listen to music. Inshallah all this goes well and I hope to hear @Ale Vallecchi tell his stories while we eat delicious different types of food. Great story telling!!

Also to deactivate your airbag unplug the yellow plug underneath the driver or passenger seat and then you’ll see the airbag deactivated light on the bash board, remember to plug it back in afterwards. It’ll reset on the next key cycle ( turn of take key out and open door then close door and start car).

alright sweet, thx I was wondering where the airbag fuse is.

@Shehab Alawadhi don't get anything done this week. Let's meet up on Friday and we will try some magic on your vehicle. If magic does not work you have to be ready to spend some money.

Yea for sure, I wasn't planning on doing anything as of yet, the car runs beautifully with traction control off and ESC off, I was just wondering if a kill switch would be worth it.

On my second AD drive after I learned about the magic of holding the traction control button I was drifting beautifully between dunes, you know the types of drifting where sand is flying in your car and above your head.

Ready to learn from you @Rahimdad

Let us drive and click some pictures when we can get out of the car @Shehab Alawadhi

Oh yea for sure. I hope to be in sweep this time again. I found it really helped me improve my dune climbing and route choice by watching other people try. Also I get to hone my skills on helping other people navigate a stuck or a refusal. I love helping people when it comes to these situations because you learn so much!

Hi, i just had a bit of digging on YouTube and to turn the ESC off you have to push the TC button to turn of TC then what you do is you push the TC button for few seconds then you will see the ESC also turns off.... ive just done it and it works ✌🏼

Yea I found that out last week after my first AD drive when the ESC was giving me problems in tight dunes. I haven't found anything yet on kill switches on pickups sadly. I need to ask Green Auto Works if they do something like that.

Hi mate, yes the ESC doesn’t fully switch off even when the TC is turned off, this for me is only a problem when doing short sharp turn when the front end push out to much (under steer) because of my heave foot, it takes a bit of time to get used to how to make short / drifting turns with it though but its not a problem for me when driving “normally”, its only an issue when starting “playing” around and the back end doesn’t step out / break traction.

I've never had issues at speed or while side slopping, fast drifts and most doughnuts

My truck is a single cab though so I'm sure getting the longer double cab truck through the dunes might be more of a challenge as you have much more weight and length to deal with especially when turning...

Also I've no idea how to deactivate the ESC so maybe something you’ll need to ask Ford technician about...

Do let me know when you find out how to turn it fully off, I’ll also try and find out and post it here when I do✌🏼

To turn off ESC you hold the traction control button for 5 seconds and it will say "ESC OFF" after i did my tank of a car was keeping up with Pajero's and Wranglers.

Im not sure what model you have but it should be the same.

@Thomas Varghese I disagree for you to accelerate to a point where you feel you're going to fly over the dune.  Although there is sand on the other side but as a Newbie you don't know how your vehicle will react to landing hard on the other side. I would much rather have you try it out a few times before getting it right.

@Shehab Alawadhi please follow our video instructions for newbies and start with lower RPM, if you get stuck reverse and try again at slightly higher RPM. I would rather have you learn to perfect your throttle than putting you in any kind of danger.

alright will do, no problem. Thank you!

@Shehab Alawadhi I like to click pictures and always carry my camera kit wherever I go. This was my only hobby before, after the hectic pressures of running a business but now with the new toy the XTERRA I have added another hobby to clicking pictures. Traverse the desert and try to absorb its beauty through my camera.
