  1. Hi, for what it helps, this is what I did in my Y61: replaced the stock fog lights with Baja Design Squadron Pro Round, with amber lenses to help cut through dust and fog (https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/squadron-r-pro-led-wide-cornering-amber.asp), and I replaced the headlight bulbs with LED lights. This set up so far provides a good light source whilst driving. I had four X-Vision flood lights mounted in the bumper, but have now removed them as I suspect they were blocking airflow into the cooling systems. Two of those X-Vision were relocated as cornering lights, but I feel amber lights will work better. In future I plan to have installed STP heat shield, which I understand doubles as sound proofing. *** Edit: just added two pictures so you can see the lights. The four smaller white lights in the bumper were removed for the same reason @Gaurav mentioned in his comment.
  2. Compliments on your promotion @Rizwanm2, all the best!
  3. Congratulations @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ, well deserved and many thanks for your continuous support in drives!
  4. @Ale Vallecchi as usual a pleasure to join one of your long range drives. We covered slightly above 70 Kms and the drive was fluid. Also thanks to 2nd lead @Lakshmi Narasimhan and CF @GauravSoni for their support. The first part of the drive offered a great technical area to practice, the second part was equally demanding in sorting a combination of technical areas and some tall crests and ridges. Everyone drove well, just a few refusals and fishtails (possibly due to what seemed a bit more power than needed) and no major issues, so well done to everyone it was a pleasure driving with you all. Until we meet again on the sand, I wish you all a great week ahead.
  5. Richard @Wrangeld thank you for organising and leading today's drive, the route chosen was great and, coupled with the cool morning weather, it made a good preamble to the weekend. @Hisham Masaad thanks for your support during the drive. Wish everyone a great weekend and safe drives ahead. Warm regards.
  6. Great topic! 1 to 3 are my favorite while driving to / from meeting points, then 4 and 5 are albums and what my son calls "sand music" because is what I play as soon as we get on sand. 1. Clavado en un bar - Maná (México) 2. Que bonita es esta vida - Jorge Celedón (Colombia) 3. The gambler - Kenny Rogers 4. Cinematic Middle East - Alex Golding 5. A Wish - Hamza El Din (Egypt) I don't have a Spotify account, my daughter is helping on this while rolling up her eyes 🤣
  7. ...is actually the Nissan Patrol Y61 (SWB or LWB). Reality is, the ultimate off roader car is that one you feel most comfortable in. Without a doubt all makes and models discussed here are capable of handling the terrains in UAE. Apart from test drive different models, do a search for "uae overland photography" and you may get some results that inspire you. All the best in your quest!
  8. Hi @Lorenzo Candelpergher I regret to inform I won't be able to attend the drive. It was a route I was looking forward to explore. I've removed myself from the RSVP list so the next in WL can confirm. Have a great and safe drive everyone. Kindest regards.
  9. It was indeed yet another demanding but excellent experience in A53 and surroundings, thank you @Lorenzo Candelpergher for hosting a follow up of this challenging drive. Also a big thank you to @M.Seidam and @Hisham Masaad. Based on my car performance data, I can confirm that today I pushed my car to its limits whilst trying to maneuver to the best of my ability, the average coolant temp oscillated in a range between 99C to 105C, with a some occasions where the temperature shot up to 115C ~ 116C, mostly on long climbs or when I had to start climbing without much momentum right after sorting out an obstacle (e.g. soft sand + steep climb in 1st or 2nd gear). The terrain did not disappoint, soft sand patches, steep slopes, and quite a few steep drops, one in particular when I thought I was taking a better approach to crossing a ridge and fell right into a deep bowl, luckily I had not lost much momentum and was able to sort the obstacle. I would like to conclude with the following: it is hard not to empathize with those who are impacted by the delays of anyone's refusal, cresting, pop-outs, etc., having to just sit idle whilst eager to enjoy the drive as much as possible. At the same time I acknowledge that all drives have a variety of skill sets, vehicle capabilities (engine, mechanical). I suppose it is just not possible to anticipate all possible issues or ensure that entire convoy moves at a constant pace and speed throughout +4 hrs driving, therefore a big thank you for the patience during these situations. In summary, what a great drive, with many opportunities to learn, and help each other. Have a great week ahead.
  10. Thank you @Gaurav This is one of my own favourite ones
  11. Hi everyone, yes, my Y61 (2017) has one reverse light only and I've been told the story about compliance with regulations of governments in European Union and Australia. Compliance was also the reason why tail, signal and brake lights were moved to the rear bumper, but I am not sure from which year onward. Fog lights are located along with the reverse light.
  12. @Srikumar first of all thank you for taking time on a public holiday for a Carnity drive, even though the participants were not many the drive took off. Yes, there were problems that did not allow us go through your drive plan, but there is always the positive of learning something and the opportunity to help each other. Let's not forget we had amazing weather, imagine if sun and heat would have been in full blast! @GauravSoni amazing driving before and after the mechanical issue in your car. @Thomas Varghese great camaraderie and support as always. @Abu Muhammad I hope your passenger is feeling much better now. Guys, wish you a great rest of the week and a fantastic weekend ahead. Drive safe, stay safe and hope to see you all soon in the sand.
  13. 🙋‍♂️Ciao Enrico and welcome to the club. There is a nice post that @Looper shared not long ago, the 6th or 7th graph contains a sample of the drives he has been and the most frequent brands in Carnity. As to my favourite car, well so far is the Patrol Super Safari Y61, capable car but lacks most of the nice gadgets other cars have. Here is a link to the post:
  14. Wishing a blessed Eid Al Adha to everyone. Kind regards.
  15. 😅 you just made this drive cancellation more painful than the PCR test 🤣. No worries, things usually happen for a reason, I'll be looking forward for next weekend's drives. Have a great rest of the weekend.
  16. Hi @Kailas, noted and thank you for letting us know, hope your car issue is resolved and nothing serious. Have a good weekend ahead.
  17. congratulations @Lakshmi Narasimhan, well deserved! Wishing you safe and exciting drives ahead!
