Dear Desert Drivers, 

Thank you for joining the drive this morning. Unfortunately, the drive was shorter than planed, but still, we had great time enjoying the big dunes area of Nahel. A bit of warm-up in the nice open dunes, a few criss crossing to get in the rhythm, and we were ready for some big climbs. 

As you all have realised, climbing is not just pushing the throttle. Assessing the soft sand, choosing the best line, the best gear, getting the momentum, maintaining the grip, all this is required when the conditions become difficult. Still the convoy got stuck where the steep exit route was becoming difficult as the soft sand was becoming more churned by the different attempts.. I walked back getting my car, and my 2nd lead, and we turned our way back.

Then we had a nice section of open dunes and large bowls until unfortunately @Frans M had a nasty nose dive into a pocket, on top of a ridge. Engine oil was leaking.  With a common effort of shoveling, and careful pulling, we managed to take the car down on a flat area. Then @Mike M. has towed him on the way to the exit with great care, while I was scouting ahead to find a suitable track.

Hopefully it can get repaired without too much hassle. Great seeing you remain calm and composed during the incident and the recovery.

Thanks @JeromeFJ! Always a pleasure to drive with you, while it was a bit shorter this time but always fun and smooth. Happy to support you today and thanks for the kind words. I even learned a few things as it was my first towing rescue. 

@Frans M hope you have things sorted out or in progression. You have nerves of steel man. Kudos for your attitude and calmness for today’s unfortunate event.

Apologize to cause the amazing drive shorter. Thank you @JeromeFJ and @Mike M. for the support. This is really showing the quality of Carnity club. We leave no one behind. It is a lesson learned for me, that 1 second can make a significant difference. I should have turn right one second before the ridge ends. After the incident I was worried about HOW to bring the damaged car out, but it was quickly handled @JeromeFJ and @Mike M. by doing survey and deciding to arrange a route. Thank you everyone.

Hey @Frans M apologies for the late reply, I hope you managed to get the car looked at and I hope it's well on its way to being fixed. It will be great to have you back soon. I envy your calmness, if that was me in your position, I don't think I could have handled it as well as you did.
