DRIVE DETAILS

Level:  Fewbie and above

Action Plan: Let's start the year with a relaxing drive in one of the (still) most pristine off-roading areas in the UAE. Even though well-known and often travelled, the long cordons running east from Faya Truck Road remain mostly clean and very much enjoyable. We'll run along and across them from our entry to a beautiful area -rock formation known as the "fox's den", where a family of foxes indeed leaves and hunts. From there we may loop south and back to Faya Truck Road, or further east, toward the Sweihan's Pond, and a nearby exit. Most of the drive will be focuses on enjoying the long-range dunes and driving at a relatively fast pace across them.

Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Mandatory off-road gears: Fewbie and above, Tire deflator, tire pressure gauge, compressor, walkie-talkie radio, off-road flag, shovel, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, Intermediate and above, Kinetic Tow Rope and 2 soft Shackles.

Note: Please ensure that all of your off-road gear is securely tied down with ratchet straps in the rear compartment of the vehicle. Bungy type tie downs are not suitable for tying down off-road gear.

 Approximate finish time: 12:30 PM

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

• This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Thursday - 12:00 pm.
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist. Once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

Dear Desertnauts.

First of all, I'd like to wish all of you and your families a great and prosperous 2026. Happy New Year !!

I am very glad the new year has brought us, so far, splendid weather, with great clear skies, and perfect temperatures. In such an ideal setting, we'll enjoy a relaxing drive from Faya Truck Rd. to "The Fox's Den" and beyond, with the second segment of the drive and its exit point still up for grabs. The way to the objective of the drive is characterized by long range, clean sand cordons, very well-spaced between each other, providing excellent opportunities for side sloping and crisscrossing. So should be the segment toward the end of the drive, regardless the final choice. We will encounter some closer, tighter dunes, with more bushy vegetation in between these 2 halves.

The convoy order has been designed to have higher ranked members ahead and below each lower ranked member, with the possibility of the latter to be tutored one-on-one by the more experienced drivers. The order will be the following:
