Throttle body system?

Recommended Posts

Hello folks, I have a 98 galant and wanted to get some useful information on what the throttle body is responsible for? I know it has some sort of sensor. Can someone help me. What are the signs of it needing to be replaced?

Thanks

yes you are right about the sensor part, it contains the throttle position sensor and the idle speed sensor regulating the fuel to air ratio inside the engine. These sensors are connected with the engine control computer and provides information on what speed the engine idles.

No you don't have to replace it if it is dirty, there are cleaners available to clean it thoroughly. What you can do is take it out and clean and and place it back ... just make sure that you are aware of how to do it since the last time i did it, my car started having idling problems. However at that time I was cleaning and operating the throttle body and the IAC control sensors. The problem might have been associated with the IAC as well so can't say for sure.

Umm guess ill be getting it cleaned and ill ensure that the guys take it out to do it. Don't want to risk the car in any way because it works fine and i know that most cars get problems AFTER they come back from servicing.
