overheating when idiling

my car is getting overheated when idling??

why this only happening then and when not running

it can mean 3 things:

1. coolant level is low

2. water level is low

3. radiator fan not working

remember when the car is being driven there is constantly air being passed through the radiator...so its easier to cool. i had the same problem on my Renault Clio...so i just removed the radiator cap, filled up with water and never had the problem again. hope this helps

Along with gti points, also check AC fan is working. As while idle car overheat due to AC load too and while running as gti explained car radiator get air cooled automatically.
