  1. Municipality has confiscated more than "6000" abandoned cars by its owners in the first half year of 2016. Sharjah Municipality Head added, first we put a warning sticker on the filthy car for impoundment. Then the vehicle will be removed in 24 hours if it is standing on the main road; in 48 hours if it is standing in commercial and industrial areas; and 72 hours if it is standing in residential areas. The residentials who left the country we do not respond them with warnings we simply take their cars. Source News: http://www.khaleejtimes.com/6000-dirty- ... of-sharjah

  2. Before 20 years ago I used to work for oil company and they have rule for inspection every time you drive out from the camp which that every car leaving the camp must have a box of fresh Cucumber vegetable (that was in the middle of nineties) we used to say jokes about it but as the camp doctor said that it retain water for long time and remain cooler than water in any tank and would not evaporate and finally it can not be spoiled or leaked in handling I think it's a sort of military standard!

  3. It all depends on region to region and no mobile phone coverage will ever work if you are too deep in desert lets say 10-15 kms away from tarmac. Here Etisalat has better range in offroad than DU.

  4. Hey guys, I know it's a car forum but I am wondering if any of you have a special preference for capable offroad truck for dubai and UAE desert? I want to know the pros and cons to understand whihc truck is better for me for offroad driving and not for commmercial load picking up role. I want a reliable truck that can perform better than capable 4x4 cars and suv's in market and yet keep me comfortable for road drive. I have seen ford and chevy commercials that calim to make me more of a men if I drive their truck, but I am happy to be a full or half a men as far as I get teh good and capable truck for UAE desert driving and not only to get girls attracted, you know what I mean. off course not the most expensive type, but in reasonabvle price range would be an awesome suggestion. Thanks.

  7. Ethan .... Ethan .... Ethan is after the big Fish.....!!! LOL it comes by municipality and RTA together so in paid parking a fine after paid parking hours then a notice will be stacked on the glass after 1 week then it will be taken by police recovery truck and it will be charged during the 3 months if no one claimed it (owner or mortgaged bank) it will be sold on the auction. please note that the mortgaged cars will be sold as well on the auction if the bank did not claim it however some times it's sold as a lot on a list which can not be registered to avoid conflicts between police and banks as it was sold by traffic court order. the other story for non paid parking that as long as the car is clean or undamaged they don't touch it or issue fine if else they take it if no number plates they take it. in Sharjah it's totally different story! Happy Hunting Ethan....! enjoy jumping over sand dunes..!!

  8. I like the look of that. I like the 80% charge in 15 minutes too. I wonder how quickly that will kill the battery though.

  9. The taxi is nice. The Bentley is not.

  10. Love to see the morphing of those two images. I love the styling irrespective of the taxi joke, which to some extent I agree. It's interior is equally stylish, seen it in a video few weeks back.

  11. The company that makes these taxis is called The London Taxi Company, formerly known as LTI. Chinese car manufacturer Geely also have the rights to build them. The model name of the one in the picture is the TX4. They all come with a slow, noisy 2.5 turbo Diesel engine. Famous for their small turning circle. I worked for an official franchised parts supplier for them for a while.

  12. This is too much too far man, this looks like Rolls Royce and not taxi. Do you know which company make and model those taxi's are from? They are hugely spacious and very well chosen for that purpose.

  14. Best offroad truck is very varying term buddy. You need to ask yourself first whether you want crew cab, regular cab or extended cab. Crew has 4 doors and two rows of seat for 5 passengers. Regular cab has two door and seat for two passengers. Extended have extra storage space and seat for 2-3 passengers. Reading from your choice I think you fit in crew or regular cab. Once you know this assign yourself a set budget and then start considering A/B testing on performance so that you can narrow down to 2-3 choices than 10-15 versions and then we can help and advise further. Good luck, and remember trucks loose value faster than SUV as plenty of people buy here to tug boat and that really take a heavy toll on engine and tranny.

  15. Ford Raptor is among the best for uae sand desert from what I have seen from a distance, as I never owned one. Second best is Toyota Tundra, really good and reliable truck with amazing offroading performance. Either truck or 4x4 for off-road stick with Japanese or American and stay away from German brands (too much headache).
