Yes any carnity member can join any carnity drive, it's free for all. While I suspect you are driving on sand without deflating your tires. When we venture off-road, we deflate to 10-15 psi (depending on tires type) to have a better grip, that allow us to drive slowly without much of wheel spin to climb higher dunes.2 points

It's time for another adventurous drive to welcome our superman aka Rahimdad. This time we will venture in some new area at the intersection of Dubai - Sharjah - Abu Dhabi border. It's called Shuwaib and it's an extension (behind) of Area 53 what we did, few weeks back. I wouldn't call it a challenging terrain, but it's more of a tricky terrain surrounded with too many bowls and pockets that one can miss very easily. Plan is as usual to drive, drive and drive and end at some nice spot for eating together till dawn and then drive for last leg and exit by 6:00. When: 27 July 2017 Meeting time: 11:00 PM Starting time: 11:15 PM (SHARP) Where: ADNOC fuel station just before Madam roundabout. GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/W4Kc5BFfQG92 Level of drive: Fewbies - Intermediate Type of drive: Adrenaline kicking fun drive with few breaks and food time on top of some awesome dunes Plan: Learn advance night sand off-road driving What to bring along: Food, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn Approximate finish time: 6 AM - 27 July 2017 Safety advice: All vehicles should have proper tow hook in front and back Drive is only open for proper 4x4 vehicles, not for SUV's, AWD, and Sedan's Vehicle should have minimum 10-12 inches of ground clearance Every vehicle should have proper shovel, deflator and tire pressure gauge Two way radio, air compressor, tow rope, Jack and shackle are advisable to carry if you have Please leave your name and mobile here and RSVP on below calendar:1 point

Has anyone noticed that fuel tank gauge has 4 quarter and each quarter deliver different mileage? This difference is also huge like below: 1st quarter - 120 kms 2nd quarter - 80 kms 3rd quarter - 60 kms 4th quarter - 100 kms I am just curious to know if this is happening with you guys too or not? If yes, then why?1 point

My suggestions in no particular order, Road trip to barracuda Road trip to unisat Sharjah classic car museum Emirates national auto museum (rainbow sheikh) Go karting at Dubai autodrome (probably my favorite option) I think it would be nice if it was something automotive related saying as we are a car community. If it's water park then sorry, I'm out but I'll still wish you all the best. I can't do chlorinated water due to a chronic health issue.1 point

Let's be cool, but in a different way. Will try to conjure up something once my mind is free from all the work pending for me on my return.1 point

What can I say for my come back drive? What a drive? It had suspense, drama, excitement, lots of food and variety of drinks. We started at a good time, it was a bit humid and my car AC and Rav4 AC were not working, on the way a burned the AC clutch and we stopped momentarily for the belt to break on its own as we argued whether I should cut it or remove it. Waited for the smoke to settle and we were off, with the Rav4 AC clutch already burned, Sree had something bigger in mind and ended up burning his clutch plate all together before the end of the drive. The area was challenging and everybody managed well except for the usual stucks and refusals. As the night progressed towards morning the breeze was nicer and cooler for the 2 cars without an AC. @Gaurav Bhai, nice selection of area and a great lead to further challenge the hardened drivers we have in our group by now. @Asif Hussain a great second lead to keep the convoy alert and occupied at the same time. @shadow79 great third place to keep the Rav4 moving amazingly smooth through some rough dunes. @Skumar83 to keep on trying your level best to manage the dunes with your manual shifter, it's not easy but you did very well, the only bummer was the fact that the clutch plate was burnt to keep you away from the awesome action at the end. With a brief stop to eat some nice shawarmas and falafel sandwiches that @Gaurav bhai had got along with some nuts and chilled drinks, and @Asif bhai's coutesy extended with some amazing cup cakes and tea and Saleem with his own giant cool box that is really cool. After the break we headed towards Super Bowl which we reached close to day break, Cool weather in the early morning hours and good light made it a blessing to make first use of the front face of Super Bowl. We all had our turn and it was really fun, We than decided to head to the side of Super Bowl which was not that high, but the length of the dune looked amazing for some lip-smacking side sloping. However, after first use @Gaurav bhai advised us that there were some bumps which took away the fun and we need to be extra careful if we want to do the same. Next was Saleem and he soon realized the depth of the warning from Gaurav Bhai as after a jump his front wheels were swallowed by some soft sand as the car landed taking control of the steering and turning towards an upward direction with Saleem having no say in it. As a result the RAV4 flipped and was on it's side. Gaurav Bhai and I rushed to the scene with everybody else following us closely. Saleem had managed to do the one thing he was in control of, which was to switch the engine off immediately. After discussing for a while we put our plan into practice and soon Sreekumar had his rope with the shackles from the front to the rear end of the Rav4, my viking was attached to Sreekumar's rope and I slowly moved back to see if the pull would be what was required in the right direction. After making sure that we will have the desired result I made a first attempt which only slightly moved the vehicle in a sideways position down the dune, I had to than give it a little bit more power and the Rav4 was on it's 4 wheels, but had a couple of pop-outs. There were a few challenges but with the sun rearing it hot head and getting heated, we quickly popped the tires back in and were on our way to Iftar Bowl which by now had become a highway with loads of traffic. Only Gaurav Bhai made it straight up, with myself making it through my cheat route, Asif Bhai making it to the top of my car almost due to some confuion, but closely missed my car. and the Rav4 almost making it to the top just touching the peak. Unfortunately Sreekumar could not play because of his burnt clutch. All in all, the drive was challenging and eventful and I could not have asked for a better gift on my return.1 point

May be we can have two different level and type of celebrations 🤗 Let's get some ideas for 15k members celebration 🎉 @Abdul Basit Khan suggested: Let's have a meet-up at any mountain view area (Fujairah, Rak) or we can plan a water park amusement to beat the heat. 😎 Although I'm fine with above suggestion but prefer to do something different, what we haven't done before.1 point

Thank you guys. I am not that well acquainted with pajaros, as this is my wife's car and has been quite trouble free till now. I need to do the 100km services and there is also some noise from the car when I let go of the power are low speed .. sounds like it's coming from axel. Wife thinks the rear axel is depressed to one side so need someone to looks at those two issues. Any garages you have been using in Sharjah where I can get some honest work done would be grateful.1 point

To be honest you don't Pajero specialist unless you like to pay double the price of standard workshop. I am having one since last 7 years and they are extremely simple and yet Japanese engineering, almost identical to Nissan and Toyota. So go to any Japanese workshop, you will be just fine. Just make sure you compare the quote of few workshop to eliminate the rip off garage.1 point

The reason for this is that the cars fuel tanks are not perfectly rectangular/square and the fuel sensor just measures the level of the fuel. Hence each vertical quarter actually has a different volume leading to different mileage...1 point

The service advisor is a scammer trying to make commission. I trust what the manufacturer says before I trust a service advisor. Have a read through this,1 point

"The compulsory condition for maintaining motor vehicles at automobile dealers' workshops has been abolished ,to the convenience of car owners with warranty intact. Motorists can get their cars serviced at other car repair and maintenance workshops, ministry of economy announced on Tuesday." http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/transport/service-location-shouldn-t-affect-car-warranty-in-uae-1.16361841 point

1st quarter - 120 kms - because they overfill the tank at the station 2nd quarter - 80 kms - normal 3rd quarter - 60 kms - so that you rush to the station to refill it 4th quarter - 100 kms - in case you missed 3rd quarter and keep ignoring, you have some fuel reserves so that you are not stranded without fuel.1 point

Its basically how most of the cars fuel level sensor is, its basically like the float you have on your toilet flush tank.1 point

It was one of the most easiest drive we had in a long time and accompanied with almost 2 newbie + 1 new car in the convoy made absolute sense of this drive. We started bit late as in meeting point, Diamond farewell was due as he was not joining us for the drive and just came to see everyone at the meeting point due to his busy schedule. We all wished him good luck for his next journey in Thailand and moved to the deflation point and started our drive by 12:30 AM. Vivian with his spanking new Trail blazer was the first highlight of the drive. Vivian brother has also joined us, who is an avid offroader and supported Vivian as a passenger and he turn out to be a good company at bbq session with jokes and laughter. Second highlight was the unannounced appearance of Sri's new ride - Jeep Cherokee (dedicated only for desert). Raju Bhat and his guest from PUNE was equally excited for this desert night drive. Basel last minute sign-in made me confirmed of secured sweep and gopro master, as in Sweihan he used the gopro for first time, but the footage was absolutely amazing as he must have done this at professional level. Last but not least Saleem and his secret recipe chicken was the main highlight of the whole drive. We had some minimal refusal and stucks as usual until few of the boys learned to practise the throttle. After couple of hours of drive through flat track, medium dunes and some bussy patches we finally reached the base of pink rock and the only thing left was to cross the peak. With proper coordination, patience and teamwork all the 6 cars made it to the peak and we managed to cross the Pink rock to the other side, where nice area with awesome breeze was waiting for us. For the first time Basel took over the Saleem in bbqing the chicken, and it was totally amazing and we all have passed him with certification: "Fit to be married". Saleem's chicken awesome recipe was the talk of the evening and everyone want to know how to make that delicious mouth watering chicken marination recipe. He promised to post it here on forum for everyone to share. Another genius idea came from Saleem was to do the cooking with Pink rock boulders as BBQ base was left in rahim bhai car. So we literally went to the stone age. Then Basel creativity brought us to wood age and then steel age in one sitting of BBQ - pictures will explain this bit better. Finally we had good 2-3 hours break in awesome breeze on top of Pink Rock backside and then all packed up their cars by 6:00 AM. We finally started to descend and exited on the road by 6:30 AM. Overall it was also much needed to have one relaxed drive after the adventurous one, so we all can sit back and enjoy the nature more and spend some quality time over the bbq session.1 point

Here is the a little preview of bland and no character or soul "Pajero"1 point
-
Personally not a fam of Pajeros at all. Nothing wrong with thenm but just feel bland with no character or soul. As for the Montero and Fortuner I would rather suggest buy the original pick up variants The Hilux and Mitsu L200. Even with all the refinement still feel like you are driving a pickup! Atleast with the pickups you wont be fooling yourself you are not in a pretend SUV1 point

It was one those nights where I don't get in trouble or give everyone creeps...I was surprised when gaurav Bhai asked me that I am driving and I was like wait let me fix the bee lights then and yet another surprise was when deflating Rahim Bhai and gaurav Bhai said that I will be leading the convoy I was blown away ...thanks Rahim Bhai and gaurav Bhai and special thanks to everyone who were present... Asif Bhai your bash plate needs a exoskeleton and never mind such small mishaps.its all about trial and error if this will get us then we are better off saying hello to sand from the side of the road.no need to be sorry Bhai it can happen to anyone...or do 1 thing learn from me past few to many drives I have broken ravs bones but yet I am back up and ready for the next drive... Sorry to all the non vegys that the chicken was not tasty as intended... And Rahim bhai enjoy your time off but somewhere inside I am thinking who will be rescuing us now1 point

We were waiting for whole week since Gaurav Bhai posted a adventurous trip to Sweihan. I was excited as we were going to notch this area with our most trusted marshals. Sweihan is one of the difficult terrain in UAE and known as "Little Liwa" due to its big dunes and soft sand... And the other excitement for me was the convey is coming to my place 😊Abu Dhabi... And that day came, 6th July and my plan was to meet the convoy at sweihan city which is 45mins drive from my home. At 10pm I got a call from unknown number and that was gaurav bhai, this is his second number which I had not stored in my device. And heard him saying "Asif Bai small changes" I thought the plan is cancelled. But he said we had changed the plan due to some unforeseen situation and we had switched the plan to Maliha area.. without any questions, I rushed to my truck with my stuffs and started to our new meeting point which is almost 2hrs drive for me and I was 30min late.. Thanks to Gaurav Bhai to keep this drive on.. We all headed to our deflating point and Rahim Bhai was suppose to join us late because he had some work to finish. As usual practice Gaurav Bhai was suppose to start briefing and we saw a pathfinder staring at us.. & that was "Rahim Bhai" and for first time I saw him without superman on his chest.. After a short briefing we all headed towards fossil rock and Saleem bhai was leading us with his once banned RAV4... "bro you performed superb" After driving for few minutes one small sharp dip hit my metal skid plate (5mm thick) which bent from its place and hit the radiator below and we ended up with broken radiator.. With all experts and equipments we carry with us we were able to fix that at spot which took our valuable 3hrs.. After fixing the radiator and examining that we were confident that we can continue the drive with repaired radiator.. We continued our drive... by then it was almost dawn, the light started appearing from east... and RAV4 continued its momentum with some exciting dunes and drops and took us to huge dune were we did side sloping for few minutes. First Gaurav Bhai showed us his skill with his little beast and he did it almost at the top edge of the dunes...Then one by one everyone did side sloping and were playing around. But I was hesitating to do it because of radiator, thinking that it will break at the repaired joint.. but gaurav bhai came to me and gave me the confidence.. and finally I did it..!!! not once many times... Then we left that place and reached to the top of fossil rock and had our BBQ breakfast there... by the time sun rays hit straight to us we came down to the other side of fossil rock and played around again climbing the dunes for few minutes and exited from there to Adnoc.. After inflating we left to Abu Dhabi and reached by noon.. The drive would have been even more adventurous if there wasn't a mishap with my truck.. sorry everyone.1 point

Welcome back to those who have been to Liwa this weekend and back, whether it was with Gulf News or just with a few friends. @Gaurav and myself formed part of a team of 14 strong individuals, both of us had been away from Liwa for the past 4 years for one reason or the other. We both agree that this was the best Liwa outing ever. We started on Thursday evening with a meeting at one of the Adnoc petrol stations on the way to Abu Dhabi at 7 pm, Started from the Adnoc station around 7:30 pm as a convoy to reach a Mandi restaurant around 8:30 pm in Musaffah Area in Abu Dhabi. Had a good meal and chat with like minded people, each one of us excited to advance to the next stage of the trip. Around 9:30 pm started from the restaurant and on the the camping ground in Fathiya with a Petrol Station close by. We could not beleive our eyes but some Gulf New participants had also decided to come early and camp the night out as about 850 participants on the only petrol station around would be a very difficult predicament to be in. We filled up our cars and the extra fuel cans we had carried with us just in case we ran out of fuel where we could not find any petrol station. As we drove in trying to discover a nice place to settle down we realized how soft the sand in Liwa was almost like quick sand in a few areas. We learned the hard way as we had a couple of stucks and a pop-out. While a few of us tried to help each other and get the convoy moving, the rest of us went in search of that perfect spot for camping. It did not take us too long and just 2 Kilometers in from the Adnoc pump we found that suitable spot. We got our camp fire going with the ample wood that we had gathered, and were soon joined by the rest of the convoy. It had been such a long time since we last had a good hearty chat, we sat around catching up on what we had missed. Suddenly a voice echoed, "Its 3 am, go to sleep." We realized we all needed some rest to cope with the harsh environment in the Liwa area. Slowly and hesitantly each one headed to their tents, the good thing is, all of us fall asleep as we hit our beds in our tents. We were woken up to the excitement of a drive that we had been looking forward to and chatting about all week. But before we could head out, a nice breakfast awaited us with some awesome tea to open our eyes to a beautiful morning. In the excitement we all had a quick bite and packed our tents in a real hurry anticipating the drive to kick off. Quicker than someone to ask if we were all ready, we were seated in our cars and all ready to go. As we headed out, we made sure we did not get in the way of the Gulf News participants, taking some awesome dunes. At times we realized how tough and different the terrain was as some soft patches where some cars really bogged down, this included myself a couple of times. The trip leader asked me to deflate further and after a second time I actually listened to him. After deflating further I felt my car was well afloat and I never got stuck on a single occasion after that, my sincere appreciation for our amazing trip leader. We drove from around 9 am to about 1 pm and found a suitable spot to settle down for some lunch. Like thirsty horses ridden around a desert our rides were given a well deserved break and a genius plan gave us a some very nice shade from the afternoon sun. We all settled down as the fire got going again and our master chef and his trusted helpers started preparing Mutton karahi. Some snacks were going around and chats and laughter and discussions of what we had achieved in the first 4 hours in the day. Our Muslim brother offered the afternoon prayers and after a bit of a wait the lunch was ready, out came the plates the Mutton karahi along with some Chicken Mince was placed, while Gaurav bhai made his own vegetarian dish and we all enjoyed a hearty meal. We were all feeling a bit heavy as the food was so delicious that we could not help but over-eat. Soon we were all washed up, packed and ready to go. The second half saw very little stucks and all the ups and downs made sure our lunch was digested. We went through some wonderful dunes and some gauge tracks. some of the gauge tracks lead to a set of beautiful virgin dunes and it was just a pleasure driving through them knowing that we had a very strong team and individuals who were always willing to help. Some of these tracks were all churned up and one could only imagine what those 850 GNFD drivers had done to torment and leave the dunes in the shape they were in. Luckily the desert is the quickest healing environment. The sun was going down slowly as the voice of our trip leader blared on the radio, " We have 7 more kilometers to go before we come to a gauge track, it was a relief to hear as you don't want to be in the middle of these awesome dunes when the lights go out. Sure 7 kilometers later we were on a gauge track and heading out. We departed the tracks at 6:30 pm. As we inflated our tires and recalled all that we had done during the day, it was well worth the excitement we had and beyond. We had driven 106 kilometers off-road, normally we would drive anywhere between 20 - 25 kilometers on any given day. Non of us had to use the extra fuel we had carried just in case, so we filled up our tanks with the spare fuel as we knew the pumps would be full with the GNFD participants. Most of us decided to head back home as a couple of us decided to stay back for a well deserved rest and headed to Tal Moreeb where the GNFD was camping for the night. We headed back to the petrol station in Fathiya where we were the night before and it had gone quite, we just rested for a while and headed back, by the time I reached home it was almost midnight. Today is Sunday and a whole 2 days since the drive has been concluded, but it is still fresh in my mind and I just cannot stop talking about it. The perfect get away, with a perfect plan, with the perfect people, carried out to perfection. Tiamo Liwa.1 point
