@Atif I have been going for the night drives this entire summer without any additional lights and as long as I followed the car in front it's been quite simple. Yes, if you are leading the convoy you would definitely need the additional lights to see the way forward.

The Islamic New Year is supposed to be falling on Thursday, 21 September, so lets take advantage. Plus with the weather getting better it will be only cooler on top. The RAK mountain range which always are few degrees lesser than the other areas. Get ready to enjoy some of best snaky curved road making up to the to this grand Hajar mountain range. With last time's experience we can reach close to the top to enjoy the view from both sides of the mountain and enjoy the sea view. This drive will offer plenty of photo opportunity for the shutterbugs, so make sure to carry your best camera and long range lens. Plan is to start late afternoon and finish whenever we feel we have had enough to escape the heat and yet have our holiday dose of fun and adrenaline. With this timing we will also eliminate the usual rush at this newly developing tourist site. So please be on time, as we are really pressed on time so if you are late then you have to catch up by yourself. If anybody would like to bring along snacks, drinks, BBQ, playing cards, music box or any means of entertainment and fun is most welcome to join. Yeah but unlike gas, you can just go to the gas station and refill in 5 mins or have to change the engine every 3 or so years. Thats what I was saying the range figures on the electrics are under optimal conditions just like mog figures from the vehicle manufacturers which are never true in real world situation and add dune bashing into the mix where your right foot spends most of the time mashed to the floor. Thats why I said it'll be great for the two dunes you can cross before it runs out of juice.

Electric motors produce power differently from a combustion engine. In a combustion engine, the torque builds up gradually, reaches a peak and tails off slightly. In an electric motor, you have instant 100% (almost) torque and horsepower as soon as the motor is rotating. This is why the teslas have insane 0-60 mph time, under 3 seconds, 2.6 or 2.7 you need to check yourself. Putting theory into it and using head over heart, electric off roaders do make sense. I am a die hard petrolhead but I'm slowly starting to come around to the idea of it. Adapt and survive. I still think this looks like the top gear electric car though, meccano and a few sheets of aluminum. They should have hired pininfarina or someone and at least made it look modern.

What can I say. We met, we headed to the start point, we deflated and we totally conquered Faqa. It was all ours and we loved it to bits. There was awesome side sloping, ridge riding, ridge cutting, steep climbs, sharp decends, soft sand patches mixed with some very challenging terrain. Out advantage was having 4 cars with enough experience and sense of adventure to fly through some of the best we've done so far. Thanks to @Gaurav bhai for posting and leading such an excellent drive, plus some awesome sandwiches. Thanks to Asif bhai for showing some amazing skills to keep the convoy alive, the tea, the spicy peanuts and so much more. Thanks to Srikumar for a flawless performance with his newly acquired XJ. Did I forget to mention the sand storm. Oops. We were caught in one right in the middle of the drive, but everyone did exceptionally well to ride the storm out. We would have normally stopped somewhere nice to sit and enjoy our snacks and drinks, thanks to the sand storm we kept going and only got to food and drinks at the very end. Kudos to a team which makes me very proud. Thanks Carnity for bringing us together and giving us such a great opportunity.

@Atif it's an early morning drive, so we will not be driving in pitch dark at all. We expect to hit the sand after deflation and briefing by 5:45 - 6:00 AM.

I can't even imagine what a home made wheel spacer would be like. Your wheel bearing would rattle apart. If you're that miserable, just draw what you want on a bit of paper and give it to one of the Bengali machine shops. At least you'll have something useable.

How to restore power to factory spec? Full factory spec rebuild. Waste of time if you ask me. If you're going to rebuild, throw some extra horses in there.

If you're driving off road at night and need more light then they're useful. If you're using them on road, you don't need them and you're going to piss everyone off.
