As the season is just starting to sizzle and the summer seems to be setting in, but we are still blessed with cooler evenings and comfortable nights. We have already done so much, so how we can even better this experience? I hope that through this trip we are able to tickle everyone fancy. So it's going to be:- Desert dune bashing drive - CHECK Challenging mountain climb - CHECK BBQ, special food, shisha, drinks and laughter - CHECK Astro / Night photography - CHECK The plan is to meet everyone interested in the desert drive at the first Adnoc Petrol Station on Maliha Road, entering Khatam and do some awesome dunes to cross over on Fossil Rocks and reach Faya to play for some time. We will then head to the Tawi Khatimah Mountain where we will inflate to make our way to the mountain top where we can set up camp and relax with chat, food, drinks and shisha. Amazing photo opportunity awaits for all of us at night and to show off with our families and friends. Friday evening drive: Date: 04 May 2018 Meeting point: First Adnoc Petrol Station Maleha Road (https://goo.gl/maps/mzb26kxzte72) Meeting time: 2:30 PM - Leaving sharp at 3 PM Vehicle: Only 4x4 with good ground clearance without any body kit Basic recovery equipment such as 2 way radio, flag and air compressor are very important and carry lots of water and something for BBQ, snacks and dinner enough for yourselves and a little extra to share with all. Absolute compulsory to bring your stories, sense of humor and willingness to learn and followinstructions during the drive. Exact Terrain: Those interested please sign up on the calendar as per below link.1 point

Governments will always find a way to make up for shortfalls in tax revenues- it's what governments do, and they are very good at it. I agree with the experts who say that we are not ready for alternatives to fossil fuels. It's like Gaurav says, we need to replace an entire industrial ecosystem, and if we are to believe that some European cars plan to stop the sale of conventional cars in a couple of decades, they'd better get a move on in establishing the alternative parts suppliers, training technicians, building power stations, and building distribution networks for electricity to charge millions of cars. As far as I can see, none of this will be in place for at least the next several decades anywhere in the world. The internal combustion engine will be with us for a long, long time to come, simply because we have no viable alternatives.1 point

It was indeed a wonderful drive and literally breathtaking for all of us to have Range Rover in the convoy. All the pun intended. To be honest Bilal, you have managed very well as a newbie and it doesn't really look like as if it was your first attempt in the sand. We have seen many newbies breaking the bumpers even after all the briefing and guidance, so keep it up. Hope, driveshaft mounting isn't a big deal issue...?1 point

How much did you enjoy your first drive? Cannot explain in words. It was really something I wanted learn for a long long time. And with Carnity my long awaited Dream Came True. Not a club but the best family of off-roaders. What did you enjoy about the drive? The convoy management, different levels of drive and The ultimate guide to keep momentum. Which part of the drive you think you enjoyed the best which you would like to repeat? The whole experience was amazing and definitely looking forward to join another available ride for my level determined by the Lead. Do you think there was a good mix of lecture and practical, was the lecture too long, and any part that can be avoided or done in a shorter or different way? Do you think anything else could be added to the lecture? Briefing was perfect. All the questions were answered. Do you think prior reading material would help? I have watched many tutorials and read many articles but when I got initial Briefing of the drive by the Lead that was the moment for my actual understanding. So a big NO!!! Would you know where on the Carnity forum you would be able to find the information you are looking for? Its very easy to navigate. Is there anything you think could be done in a better way? to my experience not at all. Whatever and how it is ... its perfect. How do you think you can progress within the current atmosphere and learning opportunities provided? I just did one ride with group and gained a lot of confidence, for sure If i keep on following with this group and the opportunities provided i will be a good, confident off-roader.1 point

Finally a good day has ended. It was an amazing experience for me and always felt like I am surrounded by elder brothers. Special thanks to all for such a warm welcome and letting me explore desert in a very safe way. @Gaurav The Guide, @RahimdadHigh Flyer @skumar83 The best Lead , Asif Bhai the best man & Saleem bhai jolly fellow. You guys really took great care of me & my car the whole journey and I could not ask for more. Specially the *Pit Stop* And in last the best moment for me where I have been honored as Driver of the Day. Love you all P.S: I think the drive shaft mounting is damaged. So if anyone can share the contact details of Saleem Bhai so I can get in touch with him to get a quick fix. Thanks1 point

Very disappointed of not being able to join you tomorrow guys. Unfortunately I have a birthday... Which means that I will have to wait another week ! 😱 How ?!!1 point

How is it biased? The guy explained every point even though he himself drives and prefers a manual. If you disagree, we would love to hear what points you agree and disagree on and why. Well then we wouldn't have any discussion and life would be boring I don't think of it as a win or lose thing but rather what works best in a given situation but of course you are free to make your own choice and what gives you the most amount of pleasure. And this kind of information I think is good for people who are getting newly into this and looking for the pros and cons on any given subject.1 point

This newbie drive was truly filled with new surprises. We welcome two newbies - Faraz Ahmed with FJC and Faizan Ahmed with Xterra. Both were eager to learn, well prepared and ready to test their beast capabilities. As we entered our best sandbox for training, within few hours we have reached to the right side of Pink Rock in medium range dunes. Usually, this area is for 2nd or 3rd newbie drive, but the convoy response and two newbies kept me motivated to explore new boundaries. The second surprise was to see Noor after a very long time and that too with a wedding ring in his finger. Congrats buddy. The third was the Sertac holding on to sweep duties for the first time with very capable and controlled command. Good job. As we reach the Pink Rock and played for a while and then all the cars crossed on to the other side to find a good spot for the break. Just before we could end the drive, both the newbie decided to test our recovery skills in very surprising stuck - next to each other and FJC rested fully on the front and back bumpers. That was a sight to be held, I hope someone can share the pic here for that historic stuck for winning a best stuck ever contest. My pictures have been uploaded in the gallery, please share your clicks too in the same drive album. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/72-newbie-drive-pink-rock-13-apr-2018/1 point
