I believe this friday i will there for iftar drive.

I would add safety high in my list, especially here in Dubai. You need a car were you have a chance to survive even if a nutcase in a supercharged Nissan Patrol slams into you. This has become even more important since i got kids.

My personal opinion on what matters the most for me is the reliability of the vehicle, should provide adequate power on and off road, with a 3rd row fold-able seat when required, In addition to that Cruise control is my good friend during the highway rides by not only maintaining speed limits but also to be fuel efficient. At the end of the day, We get what we pay for !

As you all know. I bought a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 4.0 Inline 6 engine. So it is like after some break i replace my legendary money pit Cherokee with this Grand Cherokee. I got the car yesterday. Till now i drove around 200km and first impressions are very good. It was a well maintained family car. It is way comfortable than Cherokee. It has the same engine with Cherokee. Seats, mirrors, windows are electric operated. It has infinity gold sound system(not that nice actually). What i like is it is all original not modified and no accident in history. I will try to keep it in this condition. I am not planing any modification or any change.

At Iftar Bowl - Once in a year all UAE Offroaders gathering This unique opportunity is not be missed, whether you are a current or ex offroader. so we have a super nice post about good off road cars with a price range, and then sort of a price gathering tool, but what about pick up trucks for off road? are they good for off road? how do they compare to cars? what are the good ones? what should we look for? pros and cons and all that, are they affordable?

Going back to my classic question: How many pickups you have seen in the desert? Maybe 1:10 Friend of mine bought Tundra SWB single cab, I think with supercharged or he added on and sold after 6 months to go back to LC SWB. When he bought it, he was all excited and peppy about Tundra but when he changed, he did it quietly. All the marketing commercials of pickup talking about unleash your freedom, to be more manly and live like a king is a lifestyle touch for people who use these trucks to reach from point A to B in the desert and then camp and have tea, bbq and shisha whole night. Those people have different 4x4 for a different lifestyle needs + 1 wrangler or capsula with LS engine for dune bashing.

Good topic. My neighbor who’s an Emirates pilot has a beautiful avalanche in his garage. Would love to take it out of his hands one day 😁 On the other hand I have a friend who’s driving a Ford Ranger 3.2 Diesel Wildtrak. It’s constantly sitting in the workshop because sand gets in his Turbo 😖 According to the stealership he shouldn’t use it for off-road, while that’s just the selling point of the Wildtrak. Go figure...

Great @yogic72 in that case @Carnity is developing you with car knowledge, off road knowledge and technical knowledge. Where else can you find one forum that can develop you on so many grounds.

Looks like you are bored with your Pathy and thinking of upgrade...? Although I have never used a pickup truck myself, but heard from friends that it is good but due to its long size not ideal for small dunes as its prone to crest a lot. Even the single cab or SWB pickup truck is the same size of LWB full size 4x4. However, it's best for camping lovers, who like to load a ton of stuff or quad bikes and still cross through dunes. @Asif Hussain please share your experience in detail as you had a Ford truck for a long time.

Oh I see. For me it wouldn't be a problem as my 5k run takes almost 6 months. All my past possessions used to get 2 services a year. I'm planning to get this major service of 80k to be done at AF service center.

In the summer you can drive right up to the wall and watch the scenery from the vantage point. An SUV will be better for this. Many people drive around the dam and take pictures near the water. Some people just drive around to the Omani border, because this place offers a good opportunity to drive off-road. Timing Kayak timings are from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. Early morning is the best time to go for a hike since it is cooler and the air has more moisture. This way you’ll also avoid the crowds of tourists that visit this place year-round. Prices For boating activities, a single kayak or single water bike costs AED 60 for a day. If you want a guided tour of the lake, it costs AED 600 to rent a tour boat for 11 people for 25 minutes. If you take a Hatta tour, the cheapest is for AED 165, going up to AED 475 for full-day tours. An adventure tour can cost you AED 510. Precautions It is important to note that swimming is not allowed in the Hatta lake. If you go after the rains, be prepared to do some mud-plugging, and make sure you have a 4WD SUV with an experienced driver. Otherwise, the road to the dam is paved, but off-road offers the best sights and experiences, and you can easily reach the less crowded parts of the lake.

I once had a motorbike, Kawasaki gt500, I named it Lucinda. I was dating a girl at the time named Lucinda and she was so happy I named my bike after her. Everyone used to borrow the bike to go and buy beer for the party. That’s why I named it Lucinda, everyone had a ride on it. When she found out the real reason the bike was named Lucinda she wasn’t so happy.

Prado, all the way unless and until you really go full throttle sand bashing too aggressively than I will suggest FJC. However Prado checks all boxes than half box for extreme sand. FJC is checking that half box, but will take away daily comfort, long drive comfort, poor visibility on hard shoulders and inch more expensive of fuel due to more responsive chip tuning loaded by Toyota.
