Its all up to how parents bring up their kids. My 6 year old daughter wont sit in a car unless she is in her child seat and buckled up. Because since the day she was born she has never been allowed to sit in the car unbuckled. And as she grew up she just knee this is the right thing to do, never protested or cried etc etc Om a few occasions just going down a short distance on the inner roads to a grocery shop or something out of laziness I didn't buckle her up and she started raising hell that her seatbelt wasn't clicked in. But some people just don't get it. I've actually scolded a couple of good friends for not strapping in their children but there is always an excuse Oh but the he/she wont stop crying. Even scaring then that if god forbid something happens to them you will be charged with murder. As was the case when a father was charged with killing his unbuckled daughter who flew out of the window in an accident on palm island a few years ago

True. But as per my original comment, It’s not up to us to enforce it. The police should be doing more to enforce it. Some people only understand when you start to take money from their wallet.

If they don't wear a seatbelt that's their business, but when they get in an accident and their skull goes through the windshield that's one less inept I have to deal with on the road. I only have a problem when the inept are raising kids to their image and no common sense. It reminds me of this clip.

I totally agree on every word dude, exactly same here. My son shouts if I just close his door to switch on ac first before buckling him. And also seen our resident ex offroaders who just jeep on saying, that they cant buckle his kids as they will cry for whole drive.

I am surprised by the fact that you have listed only two Jeeps If receiving the jackpot is contingent upon spending it on cars, then I will remain both jackpot-less and car-less because I refuse to pay the ridiculous asking price(s) for cars I cannot use. I have two already, and more would just be a waste- no matter how fast or shiny they are...

I would give the money back and ask them to spend it on world hunger cause. I love what I have. God Almighty has been very generous to give me more than what I deserve.

That's indeed a safer move especially when left hand and right drive makes a big difference. I have been honked for 2 days in London when I was still getting custom to there side of driving.

My point is that I can't force those people on the road to wear a seatbelt that's their bad decisions and we all have to live with the decisions we make. What I hate the most is that they don't teach their kids to wear their seatbelt like out parents did.

Sorry but I disagree. If someone’s child dies, yes, maybe that’s their problem, but it’s also a problem for the person that accidentally drove into them, it’s a problem for the police and ambulance people who have to clean up the mess, it’s a problem for everyone else who gets involved in the situation. I know I’ve said it 100 times on this forum but seatbelts are important and they do save lives. When I was younger I used to drive like a dick and the seatbelt saved my life more than once. Without it, I probably wouldn’t be here today. Not wearing a seatbelt should be as socially unacceptable as drunk driving. Ever since I was young I can remember my dad drilling it into my brain to wear the seatbelt. Now I don’t even start the car until I’m clipped in. It’s a good habit to learn. If I’m driving now and someone refuses to wear their belt, I kick them out of the car. It only takes one dead body flying around inside the car to kill everyone else who would have been otherwise unhurt. Here’s a tv ad from my home place that shows what can happen

In my 1991 model Mitsubishi Eclipse I had the below mechanism which I think is simple and should be used by all car companies.

Where can I start- what a night! super duper! lets start right at the beginning. we deflated and moved to the start of the track and fixed our flags. Right after the start I had a refusal! Mmmm I thought... not such a great beginning. we then stopped at a great point overlooking the iftat bowl and could see many more clubs all around. gaurav bhai, rahimbhai ,Emmanuel, shamil all tried their hand successfully to climb thee bowl. The sheer number of suvs climbing the bowl at the same time was incredible. the site where we had camped-so to speak- was a hot bed of sand dunes and up and downs and the number of suvs going around here was unbelievable. At one point it looked like the Dubai Sharjah highway peak hour- seriously. it really was a wonder that there were no accidents. we broke the fast and as usually the food spread was just super- chick peas Sunday, biriyani varieties, aloo & chicken sandwich, chicken bites, meat, and emmanuel’s sweets and many more. I thought I ate very little but 1/2 hour later I was so full I wanted to just lie down and take a nap. then the drama started as we were getting ready to leave. shamil had a pop out at the foothills of the iftarbowl. Not to be outdone my left front was flat and I could not inflate it. thankfully asif bhai, Emmanuel and Aaquil helped me ( meaning they did all the work- as I had no clue of what to do- finding the leak from inside rim, jacking up the car and inflating. Thankfully it worked. so after some folks left for the exit gaurav bhai as lead and asif bhai followed by Mirza and yours truly with rahimbhai as sweep we started the drive. man o man o man- was it exciting. I was driving near blind and having the lights on low beam did not help- must have been dreaming when gaurav bhai told us on the radio to switch to high beam- anyway what is a drive without getting stuck. I did that so many times. Gaurav bhai,asif bhai and rahimbhai bhai were patient and helped me self extricate with constant tips and a shed load of shovelling sand by them/ thanks a lot. the left right twisting the wheel just doubled my biceps in that drive. it was awesome to drive at night and pretty scary- had atleast 3 hard lands after creating and a hard hit of smaller dune I did not see as I came down off one. my fjc earned its money last night. close to the end a shovel in rahimbhai’S suv got loose - probably the number of time he took it out to help me- and smacked his daughter’s head. Thankfully no major injury. we exited the desert but not without one final hard drop after a crest right near the exit. aaquil had joined me as passenger and must still be having nightmares of why he joined me. But boy, that man knows his cars. He was telling me so much about my fjc that I had no idea. Thanks a lot buddy. i am the type of guy who gets into the car starts it and point to where I go and then get lost in my thoughts. My wife says that red lights for me is just a suggestion to consider if I want to stop as apparently I sometimes ignore them. these drives with this group is teaching me so much I wish I could join on the drives each anyway, super night. I reached home by 2 am. i look forward to the next drive- probably July for me. thanks again everybody for such a memorable night

@desertdude Even i wont let anyone drive. But with exceptions to my brother. I know his driving style. I may let him try his hands on long drives (Roads with comparatively less traffic) such as trip to fujairah,khor fakkan or Ras Al Khaimah. City limits drive will be still no no from my side.

Last time I checked and it's been a while, visit visa holders with international license can only drive rent a car cars P.S : I wouldn't let any one drive my car who doesn't have decent UAE driving experience from our south east Asian countries, even if it is my brother!

@syedyaseerI checked with Police and insurance for my friend, he has the same condition with your brother, there is no problem to drive any car in UAE with IDL with the same category on the license as police said, I ask insurance also, they said in case of an accident if police issue the report the insurance will accept, I shared my experience but better you check and make it sure, its not on my responsibility good luck

The seatbelt law should be better enforced here. I always see the mother/father wearing the seatbelt in front. Then there’s 2,3,4 crotch goblins crawling across the rear seat sticking their heads out the window. Maybe even some stupid mother holding her child in the front seat up against the airbag explode area. You think because you’re wearing your seatbelt it’s fine? I hope you get fined 10,000 for each of your unbelted crotch goblins. You want to watch them fly through the windscreen in an accident? Ok cool. Don’t leave someone else to mop up their guts when you have an accident.
