Please remember that from tomorrow we'll start meeting at 6:00 AM. Nonetheless, please try to be punctual or even a little early, as we'd like to start the drive as soon as possible (it will start being light at 5:49, and the sun will rise at 6:11, so it would be great if we were able to move as the sun comes up, or even earlier). The meeting and deflation point will be just off the tarmac road. Please make sure NOT TO REACH FAQA TOWN, but to TAKE THE EXIT BEFORE FAQA: it's marked, on the map, and consists in a road veering to the right of the tarmac a few Km before Faqa town, going through a fenced gate, and continuing through some dunes first then a sabkha area. Once you reach the meeting point, please tune into Carnity Channel 1 (446.006). Tomorrow's drive will take place in a slightly less used area for Newbies. Nonetheless, we feel confident that it can be a nice and intriguing drive: follow instructions carefully and calmly, and stay concentrated, to find the perfect feeling between yourselves, your car and the terrain we'll drive in. With the tremendous increase in the number of COVID cases in the UAE, we all have to be responsible while off-roading. Failing to abide by any single precaution at any time during the drive, will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club. ZERO TOLERANCE First offender - 1 Month Ban. Second offender - 3 Month Ban. Third offender - lifetime ban and report to authorities. COVID19 PRECAUTIONS 2.0 All Carnity off-road drives will be LIMITED to driving only: No Socializing and gathering allowed at any time. No break for taking photos, breakfast, smoking, etc. No exchanging of off-road or recovery gears. Wear a mask at all times, while outside your vehicle. For passengers restrictions, follow RTA or NCEMA guidelines. All passengers should be inside the car, at all times. Maintain a minimum of 2-meter social distance at all times. Sanitize your hands and recovery gear after use. PS1. If you and your passenger cannot sit inside your vehicle for 3-4 hours please DO NOT JOIN CARNITY DRIVES. PS2. A Member who has RSVP the drive is RESPONSIBLE and LIABLE for their passenger's compliance. PS3. The above precautions apply to everyone irrespective of their vaccination status or schedule. PS4. You can confidentially submit the photo of any offender by sending an email to [email protected]. How to comply Read the drive post before arriving at the meeting point, so that you know your convoy numbering and radio channel. Arrive at the meeting point and switch on your radio to the pre-set frequency of the drive. Stop your vehicle at least 10-20 meters away from each other. Deflate your tires, while wearing a mask, and then go back inside your car. All briefings will be done on the radio now, so pay full attention to a briefing for your own safety. After the briefing, fall in your convoy position just before the drive starts. While driving if you get stuck, announce on the radio and be inside your car at all times. Trip lead and/or support will guide you on the radio for self-recovery or tow-rope recovery. While there is a stuck or a refusal, everyone else supposed to be inside their car at all times. You can only take a bio-break during the drive, by requesting trip lead permission. Once the drive is over exit out to inflate by maintaining 10-20 meters distance from each other. While inflating, only the driver supposed to be out and with the face mask at all times. After the drive, you can talk on the radio for any feedback, suggestions or help you need.

DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Dear Carnitees, The long range dunes in Faqa, followed by some small technical areas, and maybe a little visit to "Little Sweihan" is on our drive plan coming Friday. @Tamas Hoffmann will be my second lead. As @Brette is now eligible to lead a portion of Fewbie drives, he will be in Center Forward position and take over the lead whenever he is comfortable of doing so. I have no doubt he will be leading us to nice dunes ! @Desert Dweller will be our trusty captain at the back of the ship, and will keep the convoy together and moving. Thanks and see you on Friday !

Hello, I'm happy to join the club, I have some experience on mud roads in Brazil, I've never driven in the sand dunes. I will be driving a Dodge Ram that has all needed details for the off road, also shovel, radio, tow cord, tire deflator... I will be going with my teenager son who is also excited for it. The 3.5 SWB is also good, but from intermediate level will need to pushed harder and you’ll have less power margin. The 3.8 has enough margin and eventually will run a bit cooler. @Wrangeld has recently bought a 3.8 and also did test a 3.5 and might be able to tell you the difference.

Chapter II : JGC .... we my wife and I had a dinner outside today and while in the way ( I am driving ) she asked me : did you adjust the side mirrors ?! .. I said Yes how did you know ? . She said : because I noticed that I don’t need to twist my head to watch the traffic in the mirror ( I also have this bad habit when I am driven by someone , keep watching the passenger side mirror 🤪) .i said I am glad you noticed it will be even better when you are driving . ... regarding the flat left driver side mirror needed to be adjusted slightly differently as the image is real and the coming car looks bigger consequently . Adjusted till I got the full panoramic view through the rear and side mirrors and bye bye for head forwarding, neck twisting and all theses thing that at least I and many others I believe were experiencing to compensate elimination or reducing the damn blind spot. ... no spots any more .... on the way back we switched seats and saved for her driver position 2 with the new mirror adjustment as well . wish you all good day cheers 😎👍🚙

Hi @Gaurav I have short listed some pajeros but i need your guidance to understand that how much is the gain i will have in 3.8 over 3.5. because i was doing cost vs gain analysis between 3.5 to 3.8. the question in my mind is that How much important is to have 3.8L engine? bkx i found some good deals on 3.5 with full options but i am not touching them and only searching for 3.8L.

Cool, I did read and watched the video... it's been sometime that we want to do it but we are always busy on Friday mornings, but I got some time off to go to the first ride tomorrow. And yes, Ram is nice... let's see how is it on the dunes...

Problem with Xterra when i adjust my seating position(I am driving near to the steering wheel) my left mirror is not turning out as much as i need it to turn. I am always having blind spot issue with Xterra. My Jeeps was ok for that.

Kindly introduce yourselves by providing the following information: - Which 4x4 are you driving ? - Any prior experience in offroading ? - Does the vehicle have front and rear towpoints and are they in perfect condition ? Please go through the Newbie Video Briefing which will prepare you for your first drive with us: MUST WATCH: NEWBIE VIDEO BRIEFING With regards to offroad gear, please bring a tyre deflator and pressure gauge (readily available in Ace or Speedex). Other items like a shovel, offroad flag, and radio will become mandatory from a second drive onwards (if you have them already plz do bring it along).

The first thing to check is proper grounding, as this is usually the first thing that starts to fail. Have a look at the connection points to see if there is no rust or if the wires are slightly loose. Maybe one of the LEDs is on its way out and causing a higher current than the other which upsets your monitoring system. I am just thinking out loud here. Maybe @Barry can pitch in with an idea.

Hi @Frederic Thanks for your reply It's a set of LEDs headlights that I have had for several years now. It is not flickering, and the high beams work fine. The problem presents when changing from high to low beam. Then the whole set (both headlights) go off and only the ring remains on. But if I go immediately back to high beams they will work again in high. If I stay in lows, then it will take around 30 seconds for one of them too turn back on (in low) and some 10 seconds later the other will go on. Is a very strange failure.
