Dear Desrtnauts let's prepare for tomorrow's drive. Firstly, it plans to be a long drive. Therefore, I'd like to start as early as possible. Even though it will be hot, I have moved the meeting time at 3:00PM (considering that half an hour more or less is not going to make it any cooler). Secondly, the reason for anticipating the meeting time is that I'd like to close the drive beyond the initially planned exit location (at first in the general Lahbab's area, between Margham and Nazwa), exploring an exit path reaching out as close to the actual Lahbab's village as possible. Thirdly, about the meeting point, it used yo be easily accessible, on the left side of the Qudra Lakes to Solar Park road. However, now that the road has been doubled, and a partition is separating the two double lanes, we'll probably have to turn around at Solar Park itself, and trace the way back to the pylons close to the indicated entry point, which is on the dirt track coming from Lisaili. Please consider some extra time for this now unavoidable detour. The drive will cover a lot of ground, first through Lisaili's plateau, then on a stretch of dirt track going from the Lisaili exit point, across the Dubai-Al Ain Road, into the dunes leading to Margham first, and further onto the exploratory track to the new planned exit point. Personally I change the engine oil of my Xterra every 5k km although I am using a 10k synthetic 5W40 . And after seeing this video I will do the same for our Grand Cherokee although very rarely we drive off road ( probably to love lakes or the individual Qudra lakes on the track )

Nice video, I love watching engine rebuild. Been there done that thrice 😭 Love this mechanic organizing skills and clean work approach. Wish we can get such mechanics here. I always recommend everyone that change their engine oil early as it cost almost nothing. And for off-roaders at half the recommended kms. Most car manuals do slash the oil change interval by half (same as my theory) by marking it under "severe condition" or "extreme conditions" such as dusty, hot, and harsh weather.

Dear Desrtnauts, I was last week in the area of the meeting point. If you go around the round about, facing back to last exit, you should be able to take a right just after the round about and easily reach the meeting point.

Thanks Dr. @M.Seidam, I have to split it over 2 sessions to watch the whole thing This reminds me of similar "lifetime ATF concept" that I first hear from my friend who owns a Dodge. When I first hear this, I was surprised since most mechanics recommend changing Automatic Transmission Fluid every 40,000kms or if used just for going to office maybe can extend to 80,000kms. And to add more salt, these "modern lifetime transmissions" don't come with dipstick to check ATF level or quality After some discussions, I realize that what dealers nowadays mean is "lifetime of your car loan / car ownership" which is usually 4 years and people usually sell their cars before reaching 100,000 kms. After this 4-5 years/100,000kms the dealers are hoping you'll get their latest version under-warranty and repeat the cycle again Now back to the Engine Oil topic, hmm if what he says is true that "Dealers put the cheapest oil to save cost, even Toyota dealers" (since he's ex-Dealer mechanic), then we need to worry about our 10,000km oil change. There is no such thing as 5,000km vs 10,000km oil, there is oil with different viscosity level (e.g. 0W-40), liter size or quarts, and Mineral, Semi-synthetic and Fully-synthetic. Usually when mechanics refer to 10,000km oil it means the Fully-synthetic as "it can last more" and slower to degrade over time and usage. And so, if dealers pick the cheapest, that would not be the most expensive fully-synthetic, which means you're not getting that "10,000kms oil" 😂 Ok now as to when best to change oil... 5000kms is a better interval 10,000 for sure. But as regular offroaders who may go once-a-week (or twice a week!), we should learn what a drop of engine oil on paper means 👇 (use the dipstick to get a good drop and let it absorb on paper for a while) Once it gets Dark and "Middle-condition" quality, time for an engine oil change, even though you've just reached 4,000kms! Even worse, if the shape is not round, means you have some water contamination there 😦 As for the Viscosity, usually best to refer to Owner's Manual, most will refer to 5W-30. But with the knowledge that higher load + higher temperature will make the oil thinner, and that owner manual is written for "general usage of cars" + "one average setting that can accommodate worldwide situation", we can opt for something thicker like 40 or higher. The reason is we're trying to avoid this boundary lubrication, where the oil is too thin that the metal to metal starts touching and causing wear & tear. There's an oil film between bearings and crankshaft, and if the oil is too thin too often, causing metal-to-metal friction will certainly lead to Engine Rebuild like in the shared Youtube So my personal opinion is to get 5W-40, 10W-40, 15W-40. If you have a supercharger and climbing Sweihan every week may want to try 20W-50 for staying thick at high load + high temp

Hi , I would like to share my experience of the decision i have taken in this regards so others might have the benefit without scratching their heads over and over thinking about the way to go at least the Pajero Owners . so in my case , as i already have a 3" lift kit i have decided to go with the bigger tires than my original ones so i have installed on my car the Geolander G015 265/65 R18 and following are my observations : 1. Noise : in regards to the noise , i couldn't feel much of noise increase compared to my H/T (10/10) 2. Drive experience sand : much better Grip and traction on sand my engine in much happier ( 10/10) 3. Drive experience on the road: I have felt a better control ( marginal ) on the road with my old tires especially on the curves, but i think this should because of the higher tires wall , but I got used to it after a few drives ( 9/10) 4. Speedometer error: as per my calculations there is around 3.5% error margin in the readings of the dashboard so if your speedometer is showing 100Km/h you are actually driving 103.4Km/h and if your speedometer is showing 160 Km/h you are actually driving at actual speed of 165.5 Km/h . I tested this equation on my way to LIWA ( around 300KM trip ) and i didn't get any speeding tickets till now ( fingers crossed i will not get any 😂🤣) (6/10 ) 5. Tires Rubbing: i have experienced some rubbing caused by the mud flaps when going down a very steep incline and i solved it by simply removing them 😆, i might trim them later on ( 9/10 ) 6. The looks and appearance: My car looks much aggressive and better looking ( 10/10) I would rate my total experience 9/10 One important advice, please make sure to do the correct wheel alignment for your car after you install the bigger tires . cheers,
