  1. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED @Joseph Sebastian@Natalia Koryakovtseva@sohinik@Ahmad Quadri@Dorian Zissi@L. Petelczyc@Sammy Six @Rizwanm2@babaski@Nicholas Cox1@Arsalan Ehsan@Juan R@essam ibrahim@fayez@Ahmad Mehwi@FARAZ MOHAMMED@Tom V@Naim Aoun@Davie Chase Dear friends, please find your convoy positions for tomorrow attached. You can park on the hard sand when you arrive where you will find my car (i will be there from around 7.10AM). For the Newbies who have driven with us before: * Please tune in to Channel 2: 446.031 Mhz as we will use this channel during the drive. * make sure to bring your offroad gears (radio, deflator/gauge compressor, shovel) and definitely a flag. Otherwise you will not be allowed on the drive. For the ones joining us for the very first time (Absolute Newbies) and do not have a radio yet, i will bring a spare that you can use for your first drive with us. If you have one you can of course bring it. If you do not have a flag yet that is also fine if it's your first drive. We will start with a briefing which will contain similar information to what you have seen in the Absolute Newbie briefing video. If you have not seen it yet, please go through it as its very helpful. In case of any issue, you can reach me on 056 504 26 32 Please double check the location before leaving the house. Google Maps has been acting up lately and i don't want you to end up somewhere on the other side of Dubai The proper location is nearby Al Faqa next to a long road that leads into the desert, south of the Solar Park. See the red pin below: Hope to see you all tomorrow ! Fred

  2. Dear Desertnauts, some points of interest, in preparation for tomorrow's drive. For those drivers ( @Misha Puskar, @GeorgeFJ and @Siby) who will do their first drive with Carnity, once again, please review all the videos linked at the top of the post, as well as the Absolute Newbie Briefing, attached to a couple of posts just above). Secondly, the meeting point is located on the road between Qudra and Solar Park. To reach it based on Google Maps directions, you do NOT have to go to Solar Park and then get back to the meeting point. It'll be enough to turn around at the roundabout located just past the meeting point (to head back toward Qudra) and reach it through the gaps in the guard rail that are visible just next to the pylons. You should find my car already waiting there. Please, try to reach the meeting point a bit earlier than 7:30 AM, so that you may already start deflating for the drive. I will give a technical briefing before, or immediately after, the start of the drive. This is intended to bring the "newest" Newbies up to speed with the necessary skills required for the drive, and as a reminder to the more experienced drivers of some of the convoy formalities we'll have to follow. The drive will take us into Lisaili's area, from the proximity with Solar Park hopefully to the actual Lisaili village. We'll navigate mostly long-range dunes, crossing a couple of technical areas (with closer, lower but tighter dunes). If all goes well, we may escalate the drive to a bit more difficult level, but in general we plan to enjoy our Camel Trophy day, looking for camel tracks and camel trains, until we reach the camel racing tracks close to Lisaili. The convoy order at the moment is the following: @Sinol in Second Lead @GeorgeFJ at #3 @Siby #4 @Misha Puskar at #5 @Klaus Pedersen at #6 @Sajan.S #7 @Quresh. will Center the convoy @Georges Kazan at #9 @Rashid Alseeni at #10 @Ron.P #11 @rohit kumar at #12, and @Patrick van der Loo will Sweep the group. We'll be communicating through Carnity radio channel #3 (446.056). Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning.

  5. I noticed the pin point is right on top of the dune, if you are arriving in the dark, please stay on the sabhka just next to it so you don't get stuck trying to climb in the dark. I am pretty sure everyone is going to camp on the sabhka anyway.

  6. Dear Friends @Imteeaz @Daniel Rodas and @Gerrit Bus Thank you all for making this drive so lovely this after noon . You all rocked today especially Gerrit didn’t feel like it’s your first Intermediate drive. We got refusals and stuck as expected and we all had opportunity to think about it and get out with the help of the shovel only leaving our ropes in the trunks . Very well done all and hope to see ya again soon in the sand .take care and enjoy your weekend 🙏

  9. All the convoys do plan to stop at a common midway point on Saturday evening where we will have a big bonfire. So please bring some wood. Regarding the food, we are all bringing something for ourselves and a bit more to share. Some would be ready to eat and some would have to be cooked at the camping spot.

  10. I agree the extra skirts they have installed on the Signature model are very prone to damage while off-roading

  14. Most of the people will be camping tonight. This is the suggested camping spot, it’s on top of a dune but just stay next to it on the Sabhka https://maps.app.goo.gl/U7EWL7WavN27QXbE6?g_st=iwb

  22. This was an exceptionally nice drive and great introduction to the fewbie level for me. These are my key takeaways: • It was disappointing to see the amount of rubbish and debris other visitors had left in the desert, not only is this bad for the natural environment but I suspect will eventually be negative for all users of this natural habitat. • Super Bowl was good fun, wish I had another attempt, but I want to commend @GauravSoni for making the right decision at the right time, safety is always a number one priority and as that area was becoming congested and unmanaged getting out of there before an incident was a good decision. • The post bowl technical dune section of the drive was beautiful, it felt like the convoy found a rhythm with the vehicle gap and momentum that we flowed across the dunes. The level of throttle required here was interesting to feel, small adjustments was all that was required to keep momentum, for most of this section I went to manual mode and 2nd gear, as in D the Gladiator tends to stay screaming in 1st. • Ghost Village, glad I finally got to see this place, unfortunately didn’t get to meet any spirits Thanks to all for the fun drive.

  23. We request every member that joins this drive to go through the below information and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquettes and responsibilities. MUST READ AND COMPLY Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities DRIVE DETAILS Level: Newbie and above When: 21 January 2023, Saturday Meeting time: 7:30 AM - Sharp (Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: Dropped pin https://maps.app.goo.gl/3QWYGUMdyn6WG2Lz8 Action Plan: Lisaili is the home of Dubai's race camel farms, as well as the place where they train, on the circuit track, or the straight track. All along most of the Lisaili's plateau one can easily find camel tracks or run into herds or trains of these lanky animals. Inspired by a famous off-road race (The Camel Trophy), we'll exploit this wonderful area of camel farming and training to do our own training and racing across the dunes. As camels do, we'll move along, up, and over the yellow/white dunes of Lisaili, steadily and patiently overcoming all obstacles, until we'll be satisfied that we've had our fair share of "pasture". After two previous "Trophy" editions, with higher ranks, this session will be dedicated to challenging Newbies with exploring the deeper reaches of Lisaili. Approximate finish time: 11:30 AM Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Recommended off-road gears: Walkie-talkie radio and off-road flag (MANDATORY), plus tire deflator, tire pressure gauge, compressor, walkie-talkie radio, off-road flag, shovel, first-aid kit and fire extinguisher. LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE This drive is limited to 12 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 12 PM. If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list. RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list. Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions. Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others. Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month. PLEASE RSVP ON THE CALENDAR

  28. Trip Report : Convoy 2: It is really amazing to see so many enthusiastic new faces line up together to what was eventually a beautiful morning drive. we started with meet and greet followed with the briefing; highlighting and reiterating the basics of communications, convoy discipline and key aspects of driving on sand. You will get to listen this on every drive no matter what level you drive as this brings the safety at the forefront of any activity. with the convoy in order and flags up with deflated tires and egos, we made our way hoping from one dune to the next with no stuck or refusals for the first 30 minutes. I was raising the difficulty level in sections doing some steep climbs , riding long blunt ridges and patches of technical terrain and convoy responded with minor stucks and refusals which are all part of the learning. the support team got couple of chances to have some workout shoveling a wrangler stuck on crest and pop out of another wrangler. @FARAZ MOHAMMED you did very well as 2nd lead. It is very important to maintain the right distance so as to follow the tracks and maneuver while being prepared to move left or right or stop on track as directed. well done buddy! @Sachith Jagannath was a no Show. hope to see you next time. its advisable to inform on the forum incase you are unable to join the drive as it allows the next waitlisted driver to get in the drive. @Rashid Alseeni excellent driving the heavy weight with ease. u did well. @Juan R @Stan ,@MohamedSherifits important to understand the power of the car and the requirement from the terrain. you guys did very well! @fayez as we discussed during the pop out fixing break, Fishtailing, as fancy as it may look to the outside viewer, is not the best of moves you want your car to be in. You need to practice pedal control along with steering control to ensure that the tracks don't get churned up to much and that you have control over your cars moving direction. @Nadeem Ansari we all have had that one drive during our newbie levels where things don't happen as we expect them to be. There drives are the most important ones to learn about your car dynamics and how much gas is too much or too little. i liked your determination and willingness to learn.. well done! @Ron.P i am sure you enjoyed the drive as i had no recollection of your voice on the radio. @Nathan when driving in a convoy, always believe in the fact that every car can make it over the dunes since the every car ahead of you made it through. Trust yourself that you can do it too. you may have to take a little bit right or left of the track depending on how long and heavy is your car, and this is precisely why we drive every week to develop the understanding. on a side note have you fixed the issue with air bags on your car? Thank you @Simon D and @Dodi Syahdar for amazing support in center and sweep and in executing demonstration maneuvers with ease. Thankyou all for joining and hope to see you again on sand!
