@Beide Worku @Salim Akhtar @Karthikeyan Govindarajan @Santoso Marjuki @Ashutosh Garg @Mus_hus78 thank you for joining the drive. To ensure that everyone has a fun and safe Liwa trip it's important that you go through the below checklist : 1. Please ensure that you are there at the meeting point at 7:00 AM sharp. 2. Get lots and lots of rest the previous day. The more the better as Liwa will not only challenge your vehicle but your mind as well. We would need your complete focus and fatigue due to less rest is the last thing that is needed on such a terrain. For those who prefer camping the previous night, you can do so at the starting point as it's a nice spaced-out area. Bring some firewood in case if you wish to have a bonfire to keep you warm. 3. Ensure that your 4x4 is well serviced recently and all the lubes and fluids are topped up. 4. Arrive at meeting point with full fuel tank. Last ADNOC station https://goo.gl/maps/rKe2DFTu4vn55yuR6 5. Spare tire should be in good working condition. Ensure both front and back tow points are in good condition. 6. Bring lots of water (at least 5 ltr per person) breakfast, lunch, snacks, energy bar, cookies, nuts, etc etc for yourself and your passengers. We shall be having breaks in between the drive. 7. Bring garbage bags along to carry your trash. Littering in the desert is strictly prohibited. Convoy position and radio frequency will be announced at meeting point. See you all on sand,4 points

This one is interesting one since i have same car and its a heavyweighted SUV. I believe the approaching angle of the dune ridge wasnt proper and he should stabilize the car on the ridge before exiting. What i can see he rode a ridge and exited to another one quickly which causes the car to fishtaling... At this moment the driver insist to fight the gravity while his car is fishtaling which ended of losing the control and jump the ridge to otherside4 points

Hopefully good...! lol4 points

My friend @Islam Soliman will join us on Saturday morning, this allows me to extend the number of cars. @Claudio C, @DanielN, I have added you to the drive, please confirm you are still available and motivated. I will indicate the convoy order later this afternoon3 points

I think the main issue other than overconfident and eggo..the driver failed to read the dune texture by not reducing the speed of the car to third i guess when he approachs the dune ridge which causes the car to fly as result of steep decline on the otherside. He cld easily prevent it by controling the car speed.3 points

Given that the starting point is over 3 hours drive from Dubai, I plan to reach the previous evening and camp there. If anyone else interested in camping please let me know. Thanks!3 points

Dear Desert Drivers, The drive on Saturday is one of the "classic" drives that offers a perfect combination of small dunes, medium size bowls, long side slopes, a more technical patch, and some higher climbs in the last part. All of this in a very scenic environment. With the cool weather, be ready to enjoy nice outing on Saturday morning. Having said that, you can notice that we have a long waitlist. Please check carefully your schedule, and if you have changed your plans, remove your RSVP early enough to avoid empty spots on Saturday morning. I will communicate tomorrow the final convoy list, and a few more details.3 points

The plan is to have a sunset FB+ level drive covering Lisaili, Murqab and Qudra for around 3 hours in total from 4- 7 PM. Post 7PM, we find a nice spot very close to exit point and have a campfire & enjoy the weather. It is optional to stay back for campfire part. As we would finish the drive very close to a exit track, drive members are free to leave anytime after 7pm. We can wrap up the camp fire around 10-11 PM. Thing’s to keep: camp chair, 1 pack of wood per driver, snacks for yourself.2 points

Hi Mike, there is no real need of securing tow rope further, as we secure 3 things together with safety rope (Tow rope, shackle and tow point). The whole idea is, if any of these three things fail, safety rope "supposed" to absorb the kinetic energy and redirect the remaining force downward. In other words, to slow down the projectile force from 100 km/hr speed to 10 km/hr (its an example). The core reason we want support rope or climber shackle to fail too in that process so that alternate point where we secure safety rope (lower arm, foot rest, swaybar, steering rod, etc) shouldn't break. If you meant to secure the failing tow rope even more, then I would recommend using the sand filled winch damper along with safety rope, but that's really an overkill. You can use this overkill setup when you need to give jolting tug to stuck vehicle, but not while towing a dead car, as winch damper will interfere in dead car recovery.1 point

Thank you very much for organising this drive @Varun Mehndiratta A fantastic way to spend the morning - that wet sand was surely a different driving experience! The convoy was amazing... very large, but just kept pushing through the whole adventure. Glad the hose got sorted @Patrick van der Loo probably a better plan than rebuilding with sub-par materials/connections 😅1 point
-
what an awesome drive@Varun Mehndiratta, that was some serious ridge riding. My passenger had the adrenalin seriously going! big thanks @Beide Workufor the sweep , @Brett Eicher for helping out with the repairs and @Davie Chasewith the air hose and the advice during and after the drive. Your contact already has a new hose fabricated in the right material and connections. wow! Great day!1 point

Wow, it was a lovely morning drive we had yesterday - weather, rides and riders, the terrain were all just perfect for the Tune Squad drive. Faqa is my fav area to lead drives in Dubai - this drive if not the best is surely at par with the best ones I have led in this areas across all levels. Starting off cautiously we spent 30 min to judge the terrain. However, once the convoy was all warmed up there was just no stopping us. We covered 62Km in 2.5Hour of moving time, while traversing through endless long ridges and lovely bowls. I stopped counting after 50th ridge, as it wasn’t about the number anymore but the ln of these ridges that made it so much fun. On couple of ridges, we actually had the whole convoy on a ridge - was truly a sight to relish. Ofcourse the rain and compacted sand helped, but nothing can take away the skill everyone in convoy showed throughout the drive. Thanks @Davie Chase with you in the center well supported by our other platoon leaders @Imteeaz and @Chris Wing I could focus all my energy on the terrain and making the route better. @Jona and @Brett Eicher you both were perfect SL. It surely wasn’t easy yesterday with rain affected terrain and strange pockets and bumps all over the place. You followed the instructions promptly and managed to guide the convoy well. Thanks @Beide Workufor keeping the convoy togather. @Patrick van der Loo @Pierre de Maigret @Richard Franks @Felix Obst @Ali Abas it was a perfect day on sand for all. Your control with the car and skill set ensured that i could continously push the drive level - it surely ended as a FB++ drive level and credit goes to each one of you. The fact that shovels left the cars just once in the whole drive is testament to the skill set of this convoy. Thanks all, looking forward to see you all soon.1 point
