  1. Dear Desert Wanderers @Gertjan @essam ibrahim @Bjoern @Rafey Hashmi @Patrick van der Loo @Dan S @DanielN @Ishak and @Cha what a fantastic way to start the weekend, I cannot thank you all enough for making the drive a memorable one and a very enjoyable one. We started off on time only to get stuck behind a very large camel train. In our attempt to navigate them we hit some technical dunes, however, you all handled them brilliantly. We then got into our stride on the mid to long range flowing dunes of Nahel, we made good pace and covered a total of just short of 51 km’s. The distance covered shows how well you all drove with only one or two sticks and a couple of refusals. We could not get to Solar park due to the festivities there, we will try again in the near future. A big thank you to the guys at second lead and Sweep, @Bjoern and @Gertjan respectively, you guys both did a fantastic job and kept me informed all the way through. A special thank you to the busiest guy in the convoy @Cha, amazing support and patience as you worked through the issues we had and resolved them with the utmost professionalism. Drive stats I hope you all enjoyed the drive as much as I did and that you all have a fantastic weekend.

  2. Just at the carwash so thought to use the time to say thanks @Islam Soliman for taking us through the sands. Thanks @anish and @Simon D for the support! Well done to @Rahul6157 and @Rohit Deginal for your first outing on the sand. You both did great, following instructions, not fighting gravity and self recovering from one or two stucks. Others Infront of me and directly behind did very well. Key learning of the day were balancing the gap to the car Infront and choosing right place to stop, or start when the convoy got moving again. I became the victim of this shortly after Rahul's stuck but managed to self recover with aggressive right and left steering along with blipblip of the throttle. We also got to learn the use of the shovel for self recoveries from a crest, digging a V channel in front and behind the crested car. . . . And a little bit of a push at the end too! See you all again soon!

  3. Dear Desertnauts, while waiting for the last waypoint, here's the convoy's order: @Salim Akhtar in Second Lead @Tareq Al Turq at #3 @Jona at #4 @Beide Worku at #5 and @Imteeaz in Sweep. The drive is straightforward in principle. Given the planned waypoints, so far, we'll drive as quickly as possible the rather long distance between the entry and the first marked point. From there, we'll snake around to reach and circle the other ones. Looking around for other potentially interesting places to see. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning.

  7. Awesome drive, gents! @Rob S sir, thanks for all the legwork and that realization about tire pressure - I was amazed how such little pressure change adds up over time when tires heat up and how badly it can affect traction in hot sand (14 to 19psi, srsly?) @Islam Soliman great lead - awesome track, I truly enjoyed the experience, gents. @Simon D if not for you, I would probably be still trying to attach my compressor hose... thanks again! See you all next time!

  10. Dear Desert Drivers, I enjoyed a lot driving with you this morning. It was a short convoy, and the conditions were perfect to enjoy the desert. The nice rolling dunes at the beginning as a warm-up were gradually increasing in height, and after the first half hour we could start pushing our engines a bit more. Crossing a sharp ridge, we had the surprise of entering the Ghafeteen bowl; it remains a nice place, even if it is not smooth and regular as before. Exiting the bowl, a challenging technical portion was waiting for us, small narrow dunes and soft patches, and we went through progressing at steady pace, keeping just enough momentum to cross one dune after the other. Then was the "desert life moment" when Joji spotted some locals calling for support. In exchange of some air for their tires, we had a private falcon show! Then after a small portion of track, we entered an area of high dunes, and the last hour was just as a dream for off-roader, empty dunes, almost no tracks, high climbs, endless roller coaster from on side to the other, a few bowls to cross, with the views on the sabkha and farms on one side, and the small city of Nahel on the other side. @Zulfikhar Naiyar, thank you for the second lead, you have corrected my lines when needed, and could anticipate when I was going to get stuck ! @Mahesh_congratulations for your first Fewbie drive. Very well handled. The few crossings where you got stuck are not an issue. you will gain confidence with the number of drives and cross easily. Just remember the cars before you went through, so you can do it also. Remember also to control your speed in the turns and descend, so that your car remains stable. I hope your family enjoyed the ride ! @Waqar Sarwarvery well driven, the jeep remains in control in every situations including the crossings. Check how you can improve your efficiency in the long climbs (slightly lower tire pressure, more gas (progressively), manual gears, better line...) probably a mix of all this. @Joji varghese, thank you for watching the convoy in the back, you are a reliable support and it's always a pleasure to drive with you. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and see you soon. Don't forget to post your best photos in the gallery !

  27. Dear Desert Drivers @Zulfikhar Naiyar @Mahesh_ @Mohammad Sayawoush Azad @Pacific @Waqar Sarwar @Alphin Aloor @Joji varghese THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTICE There is a professional off-road event this weekend Dubai Baja International taking place in the area of Qudra - Solar Park - Faqa. Not sure of their exact track, but for sure they need space, and I don't want to have one of them flying into the convoy from behind a dune. I will relocate the starting point further South, close to Nahel https://maps.app.goo.gl/XqZc3rydA9G1fASv5 It is a bit further away from Dubai, but it is a very nice area where we can approach bigger dunes. However, I totally understand if it doesn't match your plans for the day, and I will not blame you if you choose another drive or remove your RSVP. Please acknowledge reading this post by reacting or sending a message. Thank you for your understanding.

  29. Please use the attached GPX file or this GaiaGPS link to import the GPS waypoints. This is a set of 10 way points that one could try to complete over a period of 6 hours. This done as part of the preparation for Carnity DCT 2023. This list covers some of the interesting places to visit in Qudra, Murquab, Faqa, Sloar Park and back. Hope you enjoy the drive.
