What a drive! My first in Al Quaa. Started off with a nice camping session with @GauravSoni and @Gok Krish. Into the desert in the morning and I was awed by the size of the dunes and bowls and we went crazy from the get go. A quick popout which was fixed quickly and we continued on to the bigger bowls deep into the desert. Just as when we finished the warm up and started playing with sharp ridges, i lost my steering and came down the dune with my heart in my mouth. Serpentine belt broke . A quick call to the mechanic meant the belt was unavailable till the eve, so we decided to leave my car and continue the drive. My first ever drive in the passenger seat and I am scarred for life. Now I know why my wife is scared to come with me into the desert. At a couple of switchovers, i gave up and started getting visions of my dead ancestors. @GauravSoniwas laughing his ass off looking at my face after every climb and switch. Everyone drove brilliantly but the people that enjoyed the best were @Chris Wing @Mario Cornejo @Naveen Raj and @Gok Krish. Post the drive, @GauravSoni and I went to the garage in al quaa and the guy greeted us with the belt in his hand. fixed in 5 mins and i started my long drive back to Dubai. Excited for the next week's drive @GauravSoni looking at you. Until next time boys, Until then, Keep calm and check your engine belt.6 points

Hello all, I was wondering, is it okay to drive my Jeep Wrangler in 4H part-time mode for around 5 kilometers at speeds exceeding 100 km/h? Any potential problems with that? Yesterday, I forgot to shift back to 2H after finishing the drive and only realized it after covering an around 5 kilometers. I was also wondering why the car didn't give any alert or beep during the entire journey. Is there any issue with driving in 4H part-time for that distance and speed, especially considering the oversight?1 point
-
In Jeep Wrangler 4H Auto = Variable split 4H Part Time = 50:501 point
-
Interesting... so 4H in Jeeps locks center diff fully? Isn't there a "classic" 4WD mode that allows you to just drive it like any other 4x4 with power delivered to all 4 wheels (albeit with different ratios depending on center diff setup)?1 point
-
It's definitely not OK to drive on tarmac in 4H Part time at 100km/h. The central differential gets locked 50:50 between the front and back. I also did that once mistakenly for about 80 km as the lever was stuck halfway before I realized the error. Lucky for me there was no damage. Hope the same goes for you as well.1 point

First time following @DP1011 after him taking the helm and it certainly won't be the last! Hella fun, even navigating through the SZR traffic. With legend @Davie Chase in front of me, I got to learn a few more things just by reading his tires along the away. Thanks to the support team @Pacific@munkybizness and @Joji varghese, entering your huddles itself is a learning experience. Learning from the drive: 1. Prolonged 1st gear is my new best friend and reserved for climbs and high momentum stages. 2. Finding routes without cross tracks is an underrated skill. 3. The safari business kicks in from December 4. @DP1011's drive might have a secret show stopper ending. Looking forward to the next one #JimnyPower1 point

@GauravSoni what an amazing drive bhai, no words to describe as it was kind of an extreme action which was deserved well in Al Quaa and u did justice to it. Everyone drove exceptionally well. @Krishna Rhope your serpentine belt issue is sorted out. Looking forward for Al Quaa part 2.1 point

Thanks to @Gaurav for leading us through the beautiful dunes of Lisaili. Thanks to @Imran Asghar and @Pacific for the support and well done to @sohinik for wonderful 2nd Lead job. Our journey started through the camel farm where potentially @Damian lost his flag material in the trees. Always good to remember when navigating on the roads of overhead obstacles. Then onto the smaller dunes, finishing on some of the taller wide open dunes on the hardfaces of the dune. No use of the rope today, which is testament to both Gaurav's smooth tracks and attentiveness of the drivers to make sure they were able to follow and navigate the terrian succesfully. Difficult to comment on the drivers right at the front and also the back but directly infront of me @Jitin and @Abdullah N(and @khlief a little further forward) had their first learning opportunities to self recovery. During my time in newbie and fewbie drives these refusals gave great opportunity to learn the art of self recovery and how your vehicle handles. At all levels, its important to stay calm, annouce on the radio you are stuck, mentioning your name and car, then listen carefully to instructions on the radio for the lead or support team. All three of you did fantastic job here, ensuring swift recovery and no damage or requirements for further assistance other than left and right steering and some expert shoveling from the support team. Well done guys. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon in the sands.1 point

Many thanks @DP1011, @Frederic, @Benjamin, @Mike M.. I had a gain in conquering technical dunes with the tip of the iceberg having a 50% pop-out? I would keep my donuts for myself or bring real ones for everyone. Thanks for helping and for the Santa Clause experience, will definitely be remembering this drive. I loved the positive energy of everyone. Thanks for all the rest of the convoy making it funny and nice1 point

I got my 2018 Jeepers edition second hand (just for the looks and price) and recently when visiting another jeep garage they showed me how Jeepers didn't install an adjustable track bar when doing the lift kit and the result is what you see in the picture. I was less than happy to find out... just based on that I would not recommend them.0 points
