A special SHOUT OUT to all the offroad leads, marshals and support team! @Gaurav, you got a great thing and team going! The past few months there has been some really awesome and innovate drives on the calendar which should be celebrated and recognized! We are getting access to some great stuff vs just bashing the dunes!!! (Of course there is more than enough bashing for the bashing crew ) The fewbie mountain drive I sadly tried but failed to make! Weekday quickies The night drives - looking forward to this years Ramadan specials and joining - overcome the fear of the night) The scenic/ across several emirates drives The recent 2 day trip to LIWA (I will aspire to reach fewbie+ this year to be in contention to join for the next trip) The 100km newbie challenge this weekend! Awesome drive!!! The camping gear sit down! Fantastic idea! Lens lovers! Remember seeing a picnic and sunset drive combo recently! Some extreme adventure for the intermediates - not for me... but what a drive, looking at the photos! Development of new leads with new ideas!!! Did I seeing we are getting into some dancing A few hikes with drive combo's I am sure I missed a few of the great drives - tag them in the comments!!! I am one of the quitter members sitting comfortably in the middle of the convey and enjoying his memberships, (not as regularly as I would like 😊). However, felt something trigger my reaction this morning after seeing again some exciting drives lined up this weekend! Let the innovation continue!!! Looking forward to renewing my membership next month! (Did not tag anyone, didn't want to forget anyone! Well done team @Carnity!!!19 points

Thank you so much @Theo Prado for taking the time to write this. Messages like these genuinely mean a lot to everyone behind the scenes. What you’re seeing on the calendar is the result of many people quietly putting in effort week after week. From Experts to Marshals, Senior Marshals, and Crew, every level plays a role in making these experiences possible. Planning, scouting, safety checks, recoveries, convoy flow, mentoring, creativity and execution all come together long before a drive even goes live. The variety you mentioned is exactly what happens when passionate people are given space to contribute ideas and take ownership. Different styles, formats, and concepts are born from various personalities and experiences, and that diversity is one of Carnity’s biggest strengths. Equally important are the members who show up, support, participate, and share feedback. A strong community is built not just by those leading at the front, but also by those enjoying the journey, learning, and encouraging others along the way. On behalf of Team Carnity, thank you for the appreciation and for being part of this journey. It’s this kind of positive energy that keeps everyone motivated to do better, try new things, and keep raising the bar. Here’s to many more drives, ideas, adventures, and memories ahead. 🙌7 points

@FredericYour drives honestly inspire me to sign up for more Fewbie drives so I can eventually join one of your FB Plus runs! 😄 Driving + camping is exactly my kind of thing — right in my sweet spot. Can’t wait to work my way up and be part of it! 🚙🏕️ Inshallah, will be joining one of these FB+ drives soon 🫡3 points

Correct observation @DG707 If he had carried a bit more rolling momentum, he wouldn’t have struggled as much. Gravity wouldn’t have worked against him that heavily. At the Newbie level, we always start with the absolute basics: never fight gravity. This principle must be ingrained in every off-roader from day one. At higher levels, we do challenge gravity at times, but only with proper rolling momentum. If there’s no momentum, or it’s clearly insufficient to complete an advanced maneuver, the correct decision is to back down, reset, and try again, exactly as @Luke K P pointed out. The reason some people still do this is simple: to create a dramatic sand shower that looks exciting on reels. In reality, it often puts the vehicle just seconds away from a rollover. And when a rollover actually happens, those reels never make it to social media.2 points

i'd say better angle like you have drawn and try for a nice consistent speed to get up to the ridgeline,.. and just turn down early if you can feel you are not gonna make it, loop around, and try again. @DG7072 points

You definitely should! Shared adventures are the best adventures after all, and the campfire atmosphere is great also. Ask @khurramm as well, ever since a family drive in Lisali he has a small co-driver that doesn’t want to miss any of the action.2 points

I should start getting them on NB and FB drives to condition them. These epic drives with camping will create core memories.2 points

@Soap def take the kids on a couple of NB and FB drives first to get them used to it.. and going for a camp afterwards mine have done quite a lot but still are absolutely exhuasted by the end of a 4hr drive and starting to get cranky 😅2 points

We request every member who joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities. MUST READ AND COMPLY Environmental Policy Offroad Flag Guideline Two Way Radio Guideline Off road Driving Etiquette's Emergency details for all off-roaders Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Drive Details Level: Fewbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 8:00 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Convoy will leave at 8:15 SHARP Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/vLHyE4akjbn7FaGg8 Themed Drive Action Plan: For most off-roaders, the journey into the desert begins with a simple motivation: to enjoy the UAE outdoors with friends and family. Whether it’s camping under the stars, setting up a picnic in the dunes, or exploring new landscapes together, this shared outdoor experience is what led many to start their off-roading journey with Carnity. This themed drive is designed to reconnect with that original purpose—while helping participants become better prepared for everything that happens beyond the drive itself. Starting from Lisaili, the convoy will make its way toward Al Qudra, with the option to pass through and play in the dunes of Murqab. The route offers a balanced mix of flowing terrain and playful sections, allowing drivers to enjoy the drive while refining their off-road skills. At the end of the drive (probably the last 30 minutes), the focus shifts from driving to sharing. Participants will exchange real-life experiences around: Off-roading gear Camping and picnic setups What gear is truly useful in UAE conditions Lessons learned from trial, error, and experience Practical advice for new and seasoned off-roaders alike This is not about showcasing the most expensive equipment—it’s about understanding what works, what lasts, and what adds real value to enjoying the outdoors in the UAE. The aim is for everyone to leave with clearer insights, better decisions on gear, and renewed inspiration to enjoy desert adventures with the people who matter most. Don't forget to get your camping chair for the sharing session! Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. Hi experts! @Gaurav@J-P L @Frederic @JeromeFJ @Mark B would love to hear your valuable opinion on this particular climb and its implementation. As i am building my way from newbie rank to marshal 😀 and expanding my knowledge base, I did find this particular video interesting to ask for opinions. My first impression was that this climb is unsafe is on the edge of rollover, the reason i think so is because the rear end of the car is constantly falling behind the nose and most part it is sideways action… The positive thing i see is that driver keeps pushing the gas and steers to the right. @J-P L I remember i got “don’t fight the gravity” warning from you in similar situation, of course on much more lower dune, on mu first drive. would love to hear from you guys! Eating all this info as desert, between the drives 🫣😀 Insta link1 point

@DG707 If I could offer one piece of advice…the time spent preparing now on the newbie/fewbie level drives will never be time wasted later on. The drives we do at those levels might feel basic, but what you’re doing is solidly building and refining the foundations for a set of skills that you will later rely upon and need to use reflexively. …it’s also a horrible feeling if you find yourself suddenly needing skills you didn’t practice earlier on…a position many of us have been in and learned from! 😂1 point

You can’t beat the physics in the end. Technique beats power every time. If you watch even some of the Dakar race footage, you’ll occasionally see guys with 1000hp cars attempt a line on a soft face and get nowhere. You really don’t need much in the way of angle, sand softness (ie softly packed and loose), and tyre contact area before you’ll simply never be able to gain the traction to start and sustain a climb. At that point you’re just a fast moving bunch of different vectors between speed, momentum, gravity and slip angle. You only need to make a small error and it’s over. Does look great though, as most stunts do…but to me that’s not the essence of desert driving, and not what our drives are about.1 point

Thanks for the input @Frederic! You just confirmed my feeling! let’s change the rules now - You have to climb this dune in the manner he did it, but do it safe, what would you do? I feel that car lacks initial momentum, he had to have more initial speed to do this safe way, plus aproach angle was too steep. I have prepared detailed drawing for evaluation 😅😅😅 let’s discuss this!1 point

Hi desert explorer, @Suneedh Wrangler @Menon Arun @Aringga @Riyad @Eddie-Dune-Glider @Guido Ferriani @Sviatoslav @Noufal @khurramm, Thanks for joining the drive, and special thanks to @Gaurav for approving the transfer of a fewbies from his convoy. We discussed the plan to meet the newbie convoy, and everyone agreed to drive toward Qudra. We started with small switches, followed by straight up-and-down sections, where and thanks to @Khurramm for giving us the opportunity to learn how to recover a crested car. This will be very useful when you go for light desert drives alone to enjoy the sunset or go camping with family. That said, I still recommend going with friends for safety. We didn’t reach the meeting point on time, but @Gaurav found our convoy not far from it, and it was a great moment to gather together. We then continued our drive toward Al Qudra. You all drove very well, congrats to first FB @Aringga and @Menon Arun. All refusals were managed with the help of the car behind, @Noufal and @Mei Ling which made my job much easier. We reached the Qudra play area and climbed the ridge three times, with the last climb exiting to the right so we could gather and enjoy some coffee. Thanks to our second lead, @Suneedh Wrangler, for polishing my track and making adjustments when needed. Thanks to @Guido Ferriani for helping keep me updated from the center. Thanks to @Mei Ling, not only for making sure no one was left behind, but also for spotting @Menon Arun's flag on the ridge. On the way to the exit, we ended the drive on the high side with a couple of side-slopes and rainbows, it was great fun. I saw @Eddie-Dune-Glider @Riyad @Noufal were enjoying a lot 😄. Not to forget, we met the inspector @Frederic during inflation; thanks for checking on us and saying hi to the guys. Thanks to @Sviatoslav for posting the pictures, all of them are amazing. Your wife is truly professional. Guys, check it out here https://carnity.com/gallery/category/2512-fewbie-lisaili-dubai-31-jan-2026/ If you’d like to play and learn again on the ridge, we can revisit the area, starting from Qudra Secret Garden and exiting at the same place 😉.1 point

Took me couple of days but better late than never! Thank you so much @GauravSoni for organizing this drive. Perfectly planned with clear instructions and amazingly executed. Challenging first part of the drive but defenitely showed the quality of the convoy (drivers, cars and in some cases even passengers). We then went to claim our reward in Sweihan’s beautiful dunes and lines with a lot of ridge riding and cress-crossing. Absolutely well done everyone @nithish468@nithish468 @Glenn W @Zulfikhar Naiyar. Big shout out to @Alexanderrr for a great second lead. @ChrisW & @Bjoern for the support and @Beide Worku for making sure that no one left behind. Have a great week everyone and see you again soon in the sand.1 point
