  2. Dear Desertnauts a short briefing before tomorrow's drive. We'll try to join a few waypoints from Sweihan's farms, moving first in a south-eastern direction across the wide-open cordons leading to the first sabkha crossing, turning south here, to cross a couple of more technical stretches of sand, then skirting Nagra dune (which I'd rather avoid to stay away from the heavy tracks that surely crisscross it in wintertime), before turning gently west, to reach the lower border of "Africa". We'll try to cover as much ground as possible, relying on the convoy's experience to make the right decisions, and move with good speed across the multiple and diverse segments of this drive. The convoy order will be: @Aser in Second Lead @Suneedh Wrangler at #3 @Abdullah A. at #4 @Ash S. at #5 @Yury.bel at #6 @Sam Selim at Center @Danie at #8 @Gautam Banka at #9 @Krinesh at #10 @Diego at #11 @Stumpy at #12 and @Bjoern in Sweep. See you tomorrow morning. Have a nice Saturday evening.

  3. We rolled out just after sunrise— @Luke K P @ChrisW @Beide Worku @Alexanderrr @Jessica Lambert—heading straight toward a horizon stacked with massive, inviting dunes. The kind of morning where the sand feels alive and the air carries that quiet promise of a good session. The warm-up didn’t last long. Jess’s car suddenly refused to put out any power, a frustrating issue that forced her to bow out early. Never a fun moment, but were able to find a relatively flat way out, then waved goodbye, and the rest of us regrouped and pushed on. Once we were back in formation, the dunes opened up beautifully. We started attacking a series of bowls, each one bigger and more playful than the last. Chris had a flashing CEL at one point—one of those “just jeep things” moments—but it seemed to sort itself out enough for him to continue. Throughout the morning we kept crossing paths with an FJ Cruiser group. taking turns on the big bowls, sharing lines, and watching each other carve up the faces. The highlight of the drive was the flow. We found a stretch where multiple bowls linked together, letting us switch in and out of lines and stitch long, smooth sequences into a single continuous action. It felt like surfing the desert—effortless, fast, and deeply satisfying. Eventually, we caught a burning smell from under Beide’s car and spotted splatter of grease where it shouldn’t be. That was our cue. No point pushing a (maybe?) mechanical issue after such a solid run. We made the call to exit while spirits were still high and the cars (mostly) intact. All in all, an excellent drive—clean lines, good teamwork, and a morning full of those moments that remind you why you wake up early for this. Hopefully the footage does it justice. See you all again soon!

  11. The standard Jimny traction control switch only works below speeds of 30kph, above that traction control comes on again. In 4L it is permanently off. So a kill switch is needed, at the time of writing a killswitch is about AED 200, or you can pull the fuse. To pull the ABS motor fuse. The fuse box is in front of the battery, Pull the purple 40A fuse, it is 2nd from the top left (position 7) on the dashboard 3 lights will come on Handbrake, ETS And ABS.

  12. Another option is walking around the car, kicking the tires, and proceed inside to go and tell your wife that you might need a new 4x4 in 2026 as there are Ramadan deals ongoing 😆
