DRIVE PLAN Welcome to the 6th edition of this drive in this area in this format. This time however it will be mild due to my almost a year long absence. We will keep this drive short so that we do the miles without spending a lot of time in the hot desert due to extreme heat. In this drive we will test the limits of our capability to endure g-force; starting at 2nd December Cafe in Nazwa and end it near Big Red - Badayer. We will do countless short, small but intense sidees thought our drive testing our endurance. g-force is a force acting on a body as a result of acceleration or gravity. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IN YOUR CAR IS PROPERLY SECURED. They said nobody makes it out of Al Adlah after dark. They were wrong. Under the cover of darkness, a small convoy of heavily overconfident drivers will attempt the impossible: a full-throttle escape through cursed ridgelines, haunted sabkhas, and soft powder so deep it has claimed axles, bumpers, and entire egos. Engines will roar. Tyres will scream. Compressors will overheat. This is an all-out desert survival spectacle featuring: high-speed ridge warfare blind crests of doom violent side-slopes and at least one completely avoidable refusal caused by “just a little bit more throttle.” Once the convoy enters Al Adlah, there are only two outcomes: legendary escape… or become a permanent waypoint. Hello Desert Champions! Hope you are looking forward to an early week drive tonight. It will be quite an exploration. We have a number of gates to find and pass through, and some very unusual terrain in the way that the dunes have formed. I have previously done a recce through here with @ChrisW and it is certainly some challenging terrain, but with some excellent rewards. We rolled out into the dunes early in the morning with cool temperatures, soft sand, and beautifully clean terrain waiting for us. The convoy settled in quickly, with @Diego earning the honours of the first refusal of the drive — a gentle reminder that Fayah was going to demand focus from everyone right from the start. The pace steadily built as we linked ridgeline after ridgeline, carving across some beautifully technical terrain. I got a little too ambitious on one long curved ridge and ended up beautifully crested on both diffs. @Zsolt and @Hani crest king jumped straight into action with the shovels, working hard to free the car before @Rob S delivered the final pull with the rope to get things moving again. A couple more refusals followed later in the drive as the convoy kept pushing through the soft technical sections. One thing became very clear throughout the morning — we did a lot of ridgelines. The convoy flowed smoothly across countless connected crests and criss-crosses, making full use of the terrain while keeping excellent spacing and momentum. Midway through the drive we paused for a short break after experiencing some GPS jamming overhead, most likely caused by fighter jets operating in the area. It definitely added a slightly more chaotic vibe to the drive for me as the navigation systems briefly lost its mind. After the break we continued deeper into the technical zone, where a popout gave the team another opportunity to demonstrate great teamwork and quick recovery skills before carrying on. Thanks @Mehmet Volga and @Rob S for sorting the tyre and getting us going again. To finish the drive, we headed into the desert safari area for one final playful session in the churned-up dunes before wrapping up at 10:35 AM after a fantastic morning of technical ridge riding, teamwork, and nonstop desert fun. Some quick reflections on being reminded that deliberate technique is key to confidence… Recently I changed my Jeep’s suspension setup from the Teraflex Falcon 3.3 system to King 2.5 shocks, tuned specifically for offroad driving. Objectively the vehicle now handles better. The damping is firmer and more controlled, the Jeep feels more planted and precise, and the overall composure is improved. The vehicle also sits slightly taller. What surprised me though was that my confidence in my offroad driving initially reduced…! 🤦🏻‍♂️ Not because the setup is worse…quite the opposite. But because the vehicle now reacts differently, particularly when crossing ridgelines and during side-sloping transitions. The roll, settling and weight transfer characteristics have changed enough that I have had to recalibrate what “normal” feels like. It has been a good reminder that offroad driving is a continual learning process. Even experienced drivers can become subconsciously tuned to how their vehicle behaves, and when that behaviour changes, confidence takes time to rebuild. More importantly, and the main thing I want to share, is that it reinforced that the fundamentals are what matter. For example in Carnity we teach drivers to approach ridges at a deliberate angle, let the vehicle settle, then steer off the ridge smoothly while maintaining appropriate speed and momentum throughout the manoeuvre. Those techniques will always work, even when the car behaves differently from what I expected or I am used to The answer is not aggressive corrections or forcing confidence. It is to slow down mentally, trust the fundamentals, apply deliberate inputs, and allow yourself time to adapt to the vehicle’s new behaviour. Capability modifications can improve the car, but confidence still comes from understanding, repetition and disciplined technique. Still learning…

Together we can do so much" - Helen Keller From seeing everyone trickling in from the big entry point in Faqa, to the views of the massive convoy stretched out across 2300m of desert, and eventually all coming together near the Crescent Moon Lake and being able to form this human circle was an experience i will never forget. We take a lot of things for granted, but pulling this off without even breaking a sweat tells a lot about what Carnity has created, where people can drive together, but most of all where we are all part of one big desert family. However all of us are deeply affected by what has happened, i hoped to see smiles today and people bonding, and that's exactly what happened. This is what our Gaurav would have wanted and this is how we will move forward with the club. A massive thanks to the friends who left Carnity sometime back but showed their respects by coming today and joining the circle. Events like this puts everything in perspective, and all of you have contributed so much to the club over the years. Thank you for being there! We would have never been able to do this without the entire Team Carnity group's support that was spread out across the convoy. Thank you all so much!! From this point on we will organize a yearly tribute drive. To honor Gaurav and to keep him in our thoughts. He will be our beacon for all things to come. See you all very soon in the sand again!❤️
