  6. Guys. Hats off for your hard work and dedication to ensure that the convoy is safe and sound. Though my experience as a driver was full of unexpected dunes, but thanks to @Rahimdad @Gaurav and special thanks to @yogic72 mirza bhai. His one dialog which kept me going was Kuch nahin hota (nothing will happen). Super Special thanks to @Srikumar how can you be so patient in first place. Respect!! I was just ringing if I felt little uncomfortable too. He was just just take left and you are good to go. Guys when I came back from the drive just logged into carnity to check whether it was for me as a newbie or fewbie. Had a wonderful time with you guys. Thanks again.

  10. Trip report: Great day, great people, loads of smiles, patience and enthusiasm. Initially we had decided to split the convoy, to newbie and Fewbie levels, but since we had very few Fewbie we decided to have both the convoys together with an imaginary split. As my newbie drives are we started with some easy track and gradually increased the level. Mostly everybody managed it well with a few refusals to add to our learning process. We unfortunately had I little incident with the FJ Cruiser where the radiator was hit, thanks to some technical help at hand and @Gaurav bhai who stayed back to help, the rest of the convoy followed me to our play ground. Here we had a few experienced individuals try out the sideys. It was a lot of fun and had a false alarm where @eduardo Pajero had its jump quota after a long time and started weeping out of joy. Soon we established that there was nothing to worry about and moved on to our breakfast point. After a quick bite and some jokes cracked we had to pack up and move out due to Friday prayer time. By this time @Gaurav bhai had joined us. We headed to the road, prayers and finally the petrol station where some of us inflated to head home, while others headed back to the afternoon Fewbie drive. All in all a good day and thank you to all for joining. With special thanks to @yogic72 for being my second lead, @Gaurav, @Srikumar, @Emmanuel, @eduardo and @Fuad for supporting the drive. Until next time adios amigos.

  25. Popups are a pain in the ass. I always browse in private mode because some of my google searches might be erm..... questionable. I like to scroll through carnity sometimes without logging in and it bugs me. But hey, that’s the price to pay. I would like to make a suggestion. Some people should be awarded lifetime legend membership for their dedication and long term commitment to the forum, like @Gaurav @Rahimdad @Srikumar @treks @desertdude amongst others, sorry if I didn’t name someone, it’s just an example. People like this have already cut their corn and should be recognised for it. Personally, I’m happy with my membership level now. @Carnity knows the privileges I have, but not having access to private messages lately has been a blessing in disguise.

  26. Hi everyone, I would like to ask all your valuable experience regarding rim size. I am new to this group , have recently bought a 2012 3.5L pajero (4 door)with 78k km. I have stock 17" rims on it ,thinking of changing to a stylish rim, maybe 18" or 19. I dont plan to do much off road driving , so it would just be for a cosmetic change . I just did a sample try in a shop near sharjah * (pic below but that was 20"). I have no idea about Tyre sizes or alignment and stuff like that. Kindly give some advice on this . Thanks :)

  27. Has anyone seen this stuff on their travels? Ive already ordered from souq 3 times, and 3 times they have sent me something completely different and wrong. At this stage, I’ve lost all faith in souq and I needed this last week so I’m not prepared to trust them again. If anyone knows of a shop where I can just walk in, pay cash and get this, the information would be very much appreciated.

  28. Today I would like to talk about the cold air intakes. From what I can see in some threads in this site there is some controversy on whether they are worth it or not. What are Cold Air Intakes 🤔 How to pick a good intake 🤩 Where can you buy one 🤑 What to expect from Cold Air Intakes Personal choice In my opinion they are worth it, however, not all cold air intakes are made equal, you will get different results based on the design of the particular intake you choose. But let's back up a little to understand what cold air intakes are: What are Cold Air Intakes 🤔 Think of a factory air intake system as like having a cold that clogs up your head and restricts your breathing. Now go running. It's not going to work very well is it? A cold air intake allows your engine to finally breath. Cold air intakes move the air filter outside of the engine compartment so that cooler air can be sucked into the engine for combustion. Cooler air brings more oxygen (denser air) into the combustion chamber and that means more power. The filters are usually moved to the upper wheel well area or near a fender where there is more access to free flowing, cooler air and less hot air from the engine. Not only does a cold air intake reduce the air temperature, but it also increases airflow. Aftermarket intakes remove the need for a box surrounding the air filter and instead use large diameter intake tubes that are smoother, have less bends and are often wider than the original factory ones. Removing the air box and using smoother tubes gives the engine uninterrupted airflow. See the example below, this is the stock intake of a Jeep, look how restricted it is!, all stock intakes regardless the car model are meant to be restrictive on purpose, why? - Well, it really has to do with reliability and making sure no dirt enters the engine, the problem with this approach is that the engine is always working with lower oxygen levels than with a cold air intake. 2. How to pick a good intake 🤩 In order to look for a good design you need to make sure you move away from the stock design, this means you should look for a less restrictive design, in my opinion these two below are bad options because there is not much difference between the stock and these two, I am not say you will not see some benefits, but you will not be taking as much advantage as you would with other designs. In my opinion, the simpler the better, the less restrictive the better, you should be looking for similar designs with exposed filter like these two: The filter type (dry or wet) does not matter as much as the intake design as this will make sure constant cold air goes in the engine. 3. Where can you buy one 🤑 There are many places in the UAE you can buy them, it will all depend on your vehicle and budget, here are some options: Argoob.com Ramy ICON Auto Off-Road Zone I usually buy from the US from carid.com or rockauto.com because they can ship to the UAE with no issues and the prices after shipping tend to be very similar to the UAE prices, with the advantage of getting a far more superior product than the limited selection in the UAE. 4. What to expect from Cold Air Intakes Be realistic, don't expect to have a 500 HP beast after installing one of this. The typical HP gain is around 6 - 15 HP depending on the weather conditions etc. (If you see them advertising more than 15 HP they are cheating you). 5. Personal choice For my Jeep I picked the Injen cold air intake, the reason I picked it was that it is a well known brand for performance parts, and they had the perfect design for my particular application. Since I was going to go off-road and a lot of sand is in the air, I needed something that was not restrictive and yet had extra layers to filter the sand. So I picked this design, this is not a closed design like the ones I showed you above, but instead the walls are made of filtering material (see last picture).

  30. As I said , i wont be going offroad at all . I like big rims. So i was thinking if ever i put an 18” or 19” would that be an issue in handling / fuel economy/ or any other disadvantages .
    1 point
  31. @Gaurav he has mentioned that he is looking for a bigger rim for cosmetic purpose only as he rarely drives off-road. I have seen stock Pajero with bigger than 18 inch rims, but I guess you need to get a good rim and not just from the Iranian shops as they might cause vibration at high speeds. This is only a hunch, am not sure though.

  32. Go to Deira Naif market opp Hyatt Regency and you can buy this on any big accessories shops like Al Doha, Al Ghazal, Golden Wheel, Golden Seat, City Star etc. Send a guy with physical sample than an image and its easy to source.

  34. Hi All I am planning to buy an used Audi A5 2010 sportback, the vehicle has made 155,00 kms. Could you please guide me what all i should check before buying and what common problems is expected in this vehicle. If some major issues like suspension, tensionser, idler issues, timing chain issues raise up how much will it cost me to fix it. Thanks in advance.

  35. Audi A5 is a beautiful car and I second with Fred on everything he said. Check the oil consumption as that can tell a lot about turbo and engine health. It's slightly expensive to maintain (not overly) but good looking and fun car to drive. If the car is well maintained and regularly looked after then it's nice.

  36. Nice article below on this topic: https://keepsmilingpowersports.com/blogs/news/what-s-my-light Beware that as per RTA they should be covered when driving on road. Due to road noise and wear and tear, i chose to make them removable by mounting them on rubber magnetic pads and the cable goes to an outlet plug which I put in the engine bay. Takes me 5 mins to install or remove them and they stay in perfect shape. Mines are from Eyourlife, à Chinese Amazon brand. Probably still 3D from what I noticed, but nevertheless happy with the results.

  40. Beautiful car ! Before you buy get it inspected by a workshop that specializes in German cars. Be ready to shell out a few thousands to solve leaks and other issues. Be sure to check maintenance history too. Only buy if it’s maintained properly in the past.

  41. @Barry thank you for your kind words. This forum was always about cars, how to maintain them, trouble shooting and tips and tricks. Off roading is my passion and I wanted to bring it to Carnity. Really happy that you appreciate it so much. However technically I'm not as good, and off roading is only a very small part of this community. Frankly I do not have the courage for track races or drifting, always been a distant admirer. I love the flavour you bring to the forum and love the fact that we share mural respect for each other's talents.

  43. Its the type of lens that spreads the light generated by LED Cree bulb. So as you move from 3D to 6D a small Led bar would generate more light spread than a lower number LED light bar. In Toby's i recently saw a single line 24" or 32" (dont remember the exact size) 6D light bar which generates the same amount of light spread as my current double line 52 " 5D led light bar. But before buying check where you plan to mount the light bar in your car and get the desired measurements and then go shopping. Also, get a proper wiring with a switch + fuse installed

  44. It's only brightness is the main difference and that itself MATTERS a lot I got a dinky light for below bumper (maybe 3D or 4D) without knowing this and didn't felt any big difference. Then I got the 6D for the top and that made a huge difference that I can see 100-200 meters clearly
