Please ensure that you are there at the meeting point on 7:30 AM sharp. Late comers would be sent back. 2. Firstly, get lots and lots of rest the previous day. The more the better as Liwa will not only challenge your vehicle but your mind as well. We would need your complete focus and fatigue due to less rest is the last thing that is needed on such a terrain. For those who prefer camping the previous night, you can do so at the starting point as its a nice spaced out area. Bring some firewood incase if you wish to have a bonfire to keep you warm. Cleaning up after the bonfire is mandatory. 3. Ensure that your 4x4 is well serviced recently and all the lubes and fluids are topped up. 4. 20 Liter / 40 litre fuel jerry can is needed depending on your vehicle. If you have any doubts, please post your query on the drive post and we will assist. 5. A full fuel tank at the meeting point. 6. Spare tyre should be in good working condition. If not been used recently, ensure that you take it out and check the condition properly. Also ensure that you have the wrench that can be used to remove your tyre (if needed). In the past we have seen that people upgrade their tyres but still keep the the original wrench which is of no use to remove the upgraded tyre. So please ensure that your car has the right tool to remove the tyres (if needed). 7. Air compressor, proper shovel, flag, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, 8. Fully charged radio (tuned to all Carnity Frequencies) with spare battery / radio. If you have a car charger for your radio, please bring it along. 9. Please ensure that you know how to switch off traction control (turning off Air bags is not mandatory for this drive). If it requires pulling the fuse, please research before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist. 10. Car charger / battery pack for your mobile. 11. It gained ill repute as the habitat of the Ents in the Third Age. " In the desire to continue challenging Sauron, by driving around its all-seeing Eye, we will head from Solar Park to Faqa by way of our own "Fangorn Forest", that is a long line of Ghaf trees that runs almost parallel to the Eye of Sauron's mirror field. This would be the most treacherous way to get close to the Eye of Sauron, and then escape to Faqa, as we'll cross the tightest area of technical dunes, in the warmest month of the year, on the softest sand. That is the time when I prefer driving in the desert. Not only there are fewer tracks, but it's also the season that really makes you feel like you are in the desert, the type we had always imagined, and seen in movies: hot, dusty, extreme, worth the challenge of crossing and taming. After all, as President Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen". So, if you accept the challenge, and choose to "step into the kitchen", get ready for a hot and fast drive (speed tends to keeps your cars cooler, and allows them to "float" better on burning, liquefying, sand), where all skills will be tested, in particular technical driving as well as faster criss-crossing. Drive Plan : With the conclusion of Ramadan series, shorter duration drive, this drive is a technical drive, testing the skills of handling small technical dunes that the desert of Lisaili offers. The drive will require LOT of patience and Shoveling , hence its termed - GO TECH and BURN CALORIES. This will be a drive slightly faster than the pace of snail and hence the drive duration MIGHT get extended by 1 additional hour, so please ensure you plan accordingly. One can find here beautiful sets of long-range dunes, sometimes as tall as on Sweihan's eastern sector (the one usually driven, where Bahil, Old Lady and Nagra dunes are located), but more open and separated by beautiful little valleys and occasional deeper bowls. In the middle of these cordons there is a small oasis, surrounding a green pond of water, around which we'll build our itinerary.
