  1. Bilstein and Ranchos are also very good. On the cheap side: Rough country offer reasonable value for money. Choices are plenty and I am sure every user experience will set aside each other. Do some specific brand + uae keyword search in google to see real user review to educate yourself.
  2. Hi Irfan, there is no as such group labeled here for wadi's drive. You are free to post a drive and interested member will join depending on the choice of route and timing. I see you have a Jeep, so you must be coming from off-road background or club, but things are quiet different here at Carnity than the off-road club culture. This place is more on discussing cars from anything to new technology, modifying the car, Car troubling intelligent topics to the most dumbest questions. Don't get me wrong and I am not discouraging you to initiate, but if your only goal is to drive then you are better off with off-road clubs and if you like all-round car experience community then you are in right place. BTW, if your route is nice unseen place then I might jump in
  3. I couldn't pause or fast forward it, very nice, challenge and well planned route. It's really unreal.
  4. Not sure, how did I missed this thread to voice my vote for so many days. Just submitted my vote with yes, I am sure we all are waiting now for the first person to say "No".
  5. Now that's what I called "QUALITY" to reach a million miles = 1.6 Million Kms in nine year. Damn Toyota, you guys are just tooooooo good. Although I am hardcore Land Rover fan, but things like this from any car manufacturer need recognition and respect. VERY GOOD JOB TOYOTA, YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY http://www.trucktrend.com/features/1607-toyota-buys-victor-sheppards-million-mile-2007-tundra/
  6. So sad to see this 2.8 Million USD Koenigsegg One:1 1300 hp supercar in such brutal crash at Nurburging, Germany. Best, is driver was fine and discharged from hospital in couple of hours. Good safety they are thinking.
  7. Seriously guys..... This is really happening now.....! Total PUKISH. I remember how people jump up and down when wrangler become unlimited with two more doors without increasing the engine size. Now this is next to see wrangler pickup and that too wrangler unlimited pickup = 4 doors and bed....OMG. I seriously hope they have increase the engine size this time now to push this train boggy.
  8. I kind of agree with @heslopk but my concern is that any thing launched or issued for road safety and fines and all need to be publicly announced loud and clear like on gulf news main page, sms marketing or online advertising rather than leaving the resident clueless of what this radar will capture than just living on the hearsay information circulating on the online forums.
  9. Don't worry on different offerings as all banks take credit now with very careful approach unlike before as they have been in huge losses with their generous attitude. So difference must be because of risk appetite each bank want to take and nothing major on your credit history. You can get your own credit report for 110 AED by visiting Al Etihad Credit Bureau of your complete financial history in last 24 months. Check the credit report requirement here: https://www.aecb.gov.ae/en-us/services/creditreport.aspx
  10. I have been seeing this new traffic fines radar at few places already and wondering what's new in this version of radar? Just came across this insane video of explaining what this traffic radar is capable of and how it will soon change the traffic violations in Dubai in near future. Comment from video: deployed all around Dubai now. So guy's be good and responsible driver now Good move by Dubai authorities +100000000
  11. Totally agree with above explanations. Summer time is generally a good time to buy a used car and new cars in Dubai.
  12. There is few I saved a long time back graphic from facebook showing abandoned beauties here.
  13. This is totally insane. Hope LR win the game and teaches lesson for all others to be creative than copying someone original work at this mass scale.
  14. Just seen a post from car and driver blog and seen surprising video of how three US ponies borderline failing to get top safety rating from IIHS. Simply WTF guys, get serious for our life and limbs.
  15. Difference between a Forum and a Club Being a long term member here at Carnity, I have seen lot of misconception in people mind on how they perceive forum's in the UAE. Few recent threads on Jeep forum here inspire me to write below article for differentiating the basics of Forum and a Club. I have spent very long time in the UAE, and have been part of so many clubs and forums that all my below advice is based on my first hand experience to help confused members here. The idea of people with same interest coming together and sharing knowledge for the benefit of one another is quiet an interesting concept. I mean, who does not like gaining knowledge that can help them fix a broken car or repair a leaking roof for cheap and using things that are already available in their houses? This concept is popular among people of all walks of life, no matter how old or young, rich or poor – whatever the social status – people come together, socialize and share knowledge. Over the years, this concept has been applied and accepted by different set of people in more than one avatar. Two such concepts that have been widely accepted are Clubs and Forums. While these two sound almost similar to each other, but there are few things (and important ones) that make them very different from each other. Let’s get to those. Club has A leader Usually, a club has someone that leads the members. This person is elected by the club members from among themselves. He is responsible for organizing and taking care of the overall functioning of the club. He facilitates the meetings, drives and discussions among club members and makes sure that everyone is on the same page. While a forum doesn’t really has any leader. It does have a moderator but the only work moderator has is to ensure good behavior by the members and maintaining the integrity of the forum as a whole. Forum is more solution friendly While a club usually run on the specific agenda (biking, driving, hiking, off-road, fishing) that MAJORITY of people are interested, a forum discusses each and every problem that each and every member faces. A forum encourages and gives importance to even the most silliest query by its members while a club, in this regard, is a little less flexible and decides to discuss issues that can REALLY make a difference. Forums act as a structured database of all the discussions that have ever happened among its members unlike Facebook or Whatsapp groups, that doesn't offer data retention over few days or weeks at most. Clubs have politics which makes them less friendly With great power, comes a fight for that power. Every member in a club will not necessarily like the leader and almost every member of the club will want to be the leader. Why? Because everyone loves to function and make people function in their own way. This is the reason that within a big club you can find several small groups of members that want to have the power and control the functioning of the entire club. All this leads to politics within the club and finally break down of a club into smaller fragments which makes the club pretty useless and unpleasant. A forum on the other hand does not have such a power-centered position which makes it a politics-free platform for discussing anything and everything. In a forum, people usually do not look for leadership, they look for respect. How do they get respect? They get it by giving great answers to great problems. They share knowledge freely and without any wish to be called as a leader. Forum members believe in karma of doing good to get good. Forums are Usually Free A forum is like storage of solutions and discussions on various topics. A forum, unless and until is providing something really specialized solutions, is generally FREE to join. You just fill out a simple form and eureka, and you are a member. You can enjoy and use all the information on a forum for free, without restriction, without worrying about any strict rule. While on the other hand a club, usually asks you to pay a membership fee. This membership fee can either be one-time or recurring depending upon various factors and entitles you to various benefits as a club member has. BUT considering the fact that a club gradually develops politics, is it really worth your hard-earned money? Secondly few clubs here in the UAE have a reputation that if you become a member of other clubs and forum then club operator has a right to revoke your membership from their club. I am serious, it's a my way or highway clubs.. The ego of the Big Boys Each club has a few guys that cannot stop bragging about how fast their car is and how amazing the cross country tour on their SUV was. These people do not realize the thin line between showing off and being informative. They always have something to throw at the new guys who join the club and spoil the mood of the club as a whole. They do not let anyone rise and if someone tries to come up with an intelligent technical discussion that these BIG BOYS do not understand, they are stubborn enough to kick the SMART people out of the club just to save themselves from embarrassment and satisfy their ego. Forums in this regard are so much better. Forums promote intelligent discussions and they treat each and every member equally. People are free to discuss anything and bragging is not something that one does on a forum. People usually share experiences voluntarily and without expectation which makes it pleasant for everyone. A forum and a club although based on the very similar concept are very much different from each other. Both of them have something good in them accompanied by a few drawbacks. Both of them serve the purpose of working towards a common cause but in a different ways. It is now on you to decide what's your style is and more importantly, what are you exactly looking for!
  16. Not only in Jeep, but in so many other brand club like Land Rover, Mustang, Hummer club floating with 100's of splinters. Same has been replicated since eternity with the UAE off-road clubs. Splinters of a splinters of a splinters form another club. Seems like a universal psychological human nature, or curse of a technology that any one can have Facebook group with crappy banner and called themselves club and start pestering people to join for drives.
  17. Hi Technician, good to see someone talking on power to weight ratio as most of them talk on engine size or horsepower only. Jeff: Yes you should be good with that power to weight for on-road climb on the mountains, but not loose gravel track or unpaved mountain climbs.
  18. Thanks for the encouragement, this is nice. Sometime we do need it .
  19. Hi Karthik, sorry to burst your bubble neither of selected choices is actually advisable for regular desert drives. If it's occasional they both are under acceptable level as far as you stick to beginner level drive and don't venture in deep sand and tall dunes. Still for the sake of comparison of your selected model choose the one that has better power to weight ratio.
  20. Be very careful buddy, as cops are always catching parking drifter to cause a threat to other parked car and spoil a parking lot with burnt rubber.
  21. I would still vote for manual gear buddy, as it gives 90% advantage over regular desert driving vs 10% downside, as you explain and I totally agree on the such exceptional situations. Manual is also awesome for self recovery as oppose to auto which might shift from 1 to 2 on slight vehicle movement, where you want to pull out yourself in first gear due to extra soft sand by spinning wheels as soon as you get initial momentum.
  22. Have you checked online options....? BRAND NEW PREMIUM QUALITY AC A/C COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FOR HYUNDAI AND KIA http://r.ebay.com/ADke1o
  23. Amazing and unbelievable performance by KEN BLOCK'S GYMKHANA EIGHT in Dubai. ********Really an ultimate playground for them******* Hats off to Dubai, for arranging such a generous and planned setup for this performance. Unbelievable to see Sheikh Zayed Road emptied out for this stunt, so as Burj Khalifa area and Madinat Jumeirah. Never seen any other city in the world to host this level of Car enthusiast's performance. AWESOMENESS
  24. Generally in developed countries similar idea is used for emission to reward the efficient car owners by providing better tax benefits, registration and insurance cost. Not sure what will come here based on this rating!
  25. Which carbon brass you are referring? Please explain.
