Hi @Dylan7 I just got some time today to share my views on Cayenne as a long-time offroader plus a Cayenne SS Turbo owner who has tested it in the sand, a long time back.
Fredy has covered a lot of fair points for you to consider and remember too.
Porsche's solid strength is its 4-wheel drive system which has made win a lot of races on track and in the desert. They designed and developed 4x4 system to propel all wheels with variable forces so that none of the wheels spin, but push the car fwd all the time. In short, Porsche believes that if you are spinning or doing donuts you are wasting energy.
Due to the above reason, when I tested my Cayenne in sand it was not a very pleasant experience. I wanted to feel the 450 hp magic on sand and it always slowed down on the side slope to an extent making me stuck, that I needed to reverse down. The main reason is Cayenne we get here is great for road, and extracting 450 hp for road use is very effective. On the sand, I experienced big interference from electronics (ofc after disabling TC) and felt something was still holding the car all the time. The second letdown was (maybe due to turbo lag), it delivers power 1 or 2 seconds late and in offroading when you are negotiating a big climb, you need instant power without any delay. After every major climb reaching to 70% high it dropped revs and then 1 second later roared back, but it was too late that I again needed to reverse, as when you start off-roading, you will understand this part more clearly.
If you really wanna try out your Cayenne and are open to exploring, I would suggest researching Transsyberia trim and finding out what ECU tune-up or electronic control disabling they have done to tune Cayenne fit for sand. Once you nail that part down, then surely do whatever Fred said, you can pursue and spend money further for AT high profile tires, front and rear skid plate, and also a secure lot of plastic underbody trim properly, so your car doesn't shed pieces on every drive, like the one on the video you shared.
Also, do check if your Cayenne model has TSB (kind of recall) for replacing the plastic coolant pipe running through the engine exterior that started leaking in GCC heat. Even if it's an old TSB, the dealership should fix that FOC.

I was thinking not having a tank will impact the flow of the air via that air blow gun which will make it almost useless for blowing any dust
And you are absolutely correct, I have bought one with high hopes and never used again. As the loose or dry sand can be moved while the vehicle is moving, but dry sand stuck with some fluid is hard to get out of the engine bay unless you use car wash blow gun.

You can buy air blow gun with an adapter that goes on your compressor hose pipe.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Beduan-Compressor-Accessory-Connect-Couple/dp/B083F9JGFH?th=1

MANY THANKS @Aser @Robk @Jeevan Koshy @Sumedh Krishna @Zeeshan Patel and @Sunil Mathew for brilliant teamwork to save LR4 today with tireless efforts and precise instructions at every key stage. Well done guys, you all rock the recovery today.
Apologies @Aidan Kennedy for shouting at times, as left vs right makes a huge difference in these critical angles.
Thank everyone else for your patience and support, yes we had a short spin today, but those virgin dunes without any shrubs was totally worth the chance. And we were blessed with great convoy and cars to enjoy those FB dunes at NB pace.

proper off road capabilities
With radar at the lowest level with 8.9 Inch clearance, will diminish that definition big time.
This is as per my quick search online, as I have never seen one in the sand so far.
If he is buying for family camping and NB level drive, I think it will be fine but with a lot of caution on descending every dune slowly.
Ask him to check if Ford offers one here without Radar and a more off-road-friendly bumper.
I may sound old-fashioned, but for off-road use, I will stick with known, proven models rather than betting on a new launch that comes with desert photo shoot marketing material.

Looking back through the footage and trying to learn more I have come to the conclusion that when the right rear popped out and the car rotated 90 degrees to the left the right hand side step became a plow and caused the car to roll right.
As you can see in the photo below it bent back until it hit the chassis at which point the car’s inertia threw the car over.
Sad to hear this Brette, but glad you were all fine, smiling and still scratching your head for the sideview mirror.
Take it easy, take a rest and deal with insurance firmly.

@JeromeFJ I would like to join this drive but currently I am Fewbie . I would like to know that if having attended the DCT 2023 will qualify me for this drive.
DCT is not considered as 1 regular drive for promotion, let alone the whole level for various reasons:
- Regular drive instill the course correction of specific skill and give everyone ample time to learn each skill correctly and safely.
- Regular drive convoy discipline, majorly decides when anyone is ready for the next level or not.
- Regular drive stuck and refusal are always welcome and encouraged for skill enhancement, rather than fighting gravity excessively or even borderline, which I am sure all DCT participants must have done during that day.
My humble advice, is don't rush through the promotions and enjoy every drive to learn off-roading safely, which goes a long way.

Next off-roader - advice
in Advices

FJC and Wranglers are the best off-road toys, money can buy.
If you already have one, I don't see a reason for another car. Your brand new FJC can very well hold weekly drives in stock shape and you should be able to find your peace with that for various reasons:
What most people don't think and see while adding mods, is that every mod adds certain dependability on other parts of the car. So one leads to other failures and for most of your life, you will be busy tinkering with the damage caused by the first mod and perfecting its gain as you spend money for that one mod.
Example: When you add better suspension for 10k, you want to feel its worth and you start pushing the boundaries too fast and too rough. Which results in LCA, UCA, Axles taking immense beating and failing one after the other. You fix all this with another 10K expense and you start with round 2, to push more as now you are 20k down. Now comes the wheels, tires, beadlocks, bushes, bumpstops, drive shaft etc. You sort them for round 3, thinking you covered all and you are eligible for pilot license and then gravity prove you otherwise with nose dive, bent chassis or even write off.
I know above example is very variable depending on the sensibility each offroader have from scale of 1 - 10. But more or less, this applicable to everyone when we want to get into modification world. If you still want, stay between 1-5 scale for safety reasons, at least.
