  4. I think you need to be a good driver for the whole year to get 100% . if you've been a good driver for the whole year you wouldn't have any fines. What's the criteria for being a good driver?
  5. @izzatmarji has an FJ with recovery points in front and back, but won't be able to make it this Friday due to an emergency.
  6. It would be fun to drive the most dangerous route also called the silk route from Pakistan to China.
  7. @Jamy B. @YevgeniyDYM @izzatmarji @Djamelus @Chirag S. welcome to the drive for the absolute newbies. Kindly advise which 4x4 you are having and kindly advise if your 4x4 has both front and rear tow hooks?
  8. Hi @eduardo I have a 2014 model Pajero and facing this issue with only the driver side mirror, haven't bothered checking resolution. Would be interested to find any solutions through this thread.
  9. Thanks for sharing @Gaurav bhai. Now it's my turn. I have never been cheated by a mechanic as I have always been fascinated by cars and from a very young age as my father used to always ask me to help him with small car jobs. However I never learned to tackle people and have always been straight forward and expect people to treat me the same way. But this is not an ideal world and people don't always mean what they say. Recently I had the small task, of removing the bull bar from my wife's car for passing and put it back on once done. It was a simple task of 15 minutes to remove and 15 minutes to put back. When I asked the mechanic how much it would cost me, he told me what should I charge you for this small job, just give whatever you like. So he removed the bull bar, I went to pass the car and as it was almost his closing time I called to inquire if he will still be there. He said he would wait and it's just a 15 minutes job to do. So as I reached he left the job with his colleague and left for home. After job completed I paid the guy AED 50/-, he refused saying the mechanic had asked him to collect AED 400/- from me. I was shocked and called the mechanic, to my surprise he was serious. I told him that I could buy and instal a bull bar for that price and why so expensive for a total 30 minutes spend? To this he replied that he had to wait back for me which incurred overtime. This pissed me off as when I called him there was no mention that it would cost me so much or else I could have done it the next day. I was further pissed because once again he told me I could pay whatever I felt right to which I tried to give the other guy AED 50/- again refused saying mechanic asked to collect AED 200/-. I called him again and confronted him, why he was telling me to pay what I think is right and kept on giving a figure to this other guy which was still ridiculous. To which he replied don't pay anything, I asked him on speaker phone to say the same thing to the other guy, which he did. Now this guy would not accept the money. So I left the AED 50/- in his draw, called him and told him that I had left the money I felt right in his draw, but I would never use or recommend him again. For the past 8 months I've found that there is life beyond that garage and always to confirm the cost before leaving my car for any job to be done. Rant over.
  10. @Keithryan thank you for sharing updates with the cost. Great advise @Gaurav. Great to see good community spirit in this thread.
  11. Wow, I didn't even know there was a desert in China. Fascinating. Thank you for sharing @EmVarlet.
  12. Trip Report: Woke up early on Friday morning for the preparations and getting all the party tricks fixed in the car with safe seating for my wife and daughter. Went for Friday prayers which took longer than usual delaying me slightly, this was communicated to @Gaurav bhai who handled the situation well and the convoy was complete and left on time from the meeting point while I was to catch up at the deflation point. As soon as I reached the deflation point every one was deflating which meant I was on time. After deflation and a quick recap on the convoy numbering we were on our way. This time we had used a unique method for controlling a large convoy in this particular area which worked out like a charm. I must say that I am very impressed with @skumar83 choice of area for this size convoy as we made it through in very quick time and loving every dune and moment. He had successfully lowered the level of the drive from Fewbie to Newbie+. There were only a couple of areas in which we needed to be cautious and slow down which was well announced on the radio by Srikumar to lower our speeds and increase our levels of patience. I should recommend all to have handled the terrain very well and adapted well to the white sands of Lisali. I have absolutely enjoyed the drive with very little down time and a good mix of dunes to keep everybody engaged. On the way we were able to catch a glimpse of 2 beautiful Oryx. As the sun started to set and created a beautiful sky we approached the end of the drive, settled near a lake to proceed with the rest of the evening. A lot of people had to leave due to their commitments, however my sincere thanks to those who stayed with us to enjoy the nice BBQ, my daughters cake cutting for her birthday and the awesome tea prepared by @Atif bhai and my wife. The children felt they were released from jail as soon as they were let out from their cars into the open. They enjoyed their evening with big thanks to @Sohini bhabhi who kept an eye on them, entertained them and fed them. She really has a neck for handling small children. My sincere thanks to all for attending the best Newbie+ drive for this season so far. looking forward to every bodies company on the upcoming drives and having an awesome time with all. until next time I bid you all farewell.
  13. @Sajith Kumar do let us know what you find, where from and how much.
  14. Totally agree with you @Barry. I've heard of a pedestrian so engrossed with her mobile phone she crossed the road without checking and a car in speed hit her as no time to break. No idea what happened to her, but loss of life and limb is not worth the 2 minutes you're trying to save. Always consider safety before texting or attending to your mobile phones.
  15. Try after the Sahara Centre in Sharjah going towards Sharjah College there are many accessory shops there. Best bet to get a spoiler of your choice there. It's near the tires shops.
  16. Good share @Barry. I'm headed to Singapore as soon as my credit card can buy me a Super Car.
  17. @Sajith Kumar I will be coming with my family so I'm sorry, else I would have loved you for company.
  18. 😂🤣🤣😂 On a more serious note. Sad to see you lave UAE. You have been patient and listened to all our advise, we will miss you, but looking forward to your inputs on the forums. Difference of cars and trends between UAE and India, troubles and problem solvers. Your advises will still be highly appreciated.
