  1. Wow @treks amazing write up and very informative. As a lay person i could paint a picture of whatever you have mentioned. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Toyota Prado, Suzuki Vitara, Suzuki Jimny, Daihatsu Terios, Mitsubishi ASX, Toyota Rav4, Nissan X-Trail, Honda CRV, do you need more.... heheheh. BTW, if you are interested in second hand than you can go to dubizzle and in advance option choos, 4x4 and 4 cylinder, automatic 2 door or 4 door, if you want and so on and so forth, you'll be suprised at the number of options it comes up with.
  3. In a country where even a can of coke that costs AED 1.50 is being ordered over the phone to deliver to the house, or someone blocks traffic just to stop by a grocery store to honk and get it delivered to his car when he could park his car about 2 minutes walk and get it himself, it is a tough ask for such lazy people to read and understand their car. They rather go to someone who treats them like arbab, charge them a dime and get his engine to give torubles after some time so that their garage is full and they can earn more from the damage done to these engines. In a population where we have over a million cars on road, an excellent forum like Carnity has less than 15,000 members out of which many are not active. Not everybody is as passionate about their cars to know more about it, all they want to do is have the biggest, baddest ride in town and being totally unaware of what is happening underneath the hood. A few active people here can talk all they want, but these are the people who are aware and care about their rides and have some knowledge, and dig out information from like minded people when needed. Others just don't care, but they are not on the forum to read and understand and base their actions on advise from the great people in this community. Keep sharing @Barry, @Gaurav, @taqirr, @desertdude. You guys are doing a great job sharing such important information, just hoping that more people would be involved. Some of us buy second hand cars and just imagine if we were to get our hands on a ride from one of the idiots who knows nothing about his car. Just recently I did not make a purchase f a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 litre hemi because of the attitude of the person who was selling it. When i started asking him questions about the maintenance of his vehicle, he snapped at me and said if you don't want to buy the Jeep than thank you for wasting my time. Shocking.
  4. @Barry, sorry to see you let it go. I am sure it has served you well and will continue to do so for the next enthusiast. I will check with my brother if he is interested and let you know. All the best for your sale.
  5. Very nicely explained @Gaurav bhai. Please do not by heart this, we will brief this on the day before the drive and introduce you to recovery items that are required for off-roading, as well as answer any questions that you may have. 2 days to go, excitement is building.
  6. @Barry sounds interesting, do you have any pics.
  7. Thanks @desertdude for sharing such amazing info. I know you are the person to approach to get something done at a very reasonable price and have a high quality work done. a lot of DIYs. I too was thinking of changing my sound system on my Pathy R50 as it now officially sounds terrible. Just trying to save a few bucks and I will meet up with you to find the best possible solution for my Pathy.
  8. OMG! I have ever in my life seen engine so bad, with only 70K Kms on the clock this is unacceptable. Can't blame the driver completely if he is asked to maintain the vehicle at a certain garage. In UAE there is a rule against everything, why don't they have rules as to what oil a garage can keep or not and regular inspections to make sure the regulations are being followed.
  9. @evoboy2016 Surely, there is off-road zone who rent out Jeeps for off-roading, You can call them on 04 339 244
  10. @hAwX You are most welcome to join as passenger to get a flavour.
  11. Hi @girix As per my knowledge there are several good life insurance companies out here, you will have to check the one that suits you best with the plan that suits you the best. Alico is a American based and is one of the oldest and reliable, Alliance Insurance is another good company I know of, AXA, RSA, Metlife. Some of the other companies are based in Pakistan and India which can help you even if you are not based in UAE anymore
  12. Welcome Mujtaba your name is added to the list. Looking forward to seeing you next week.
  13. Since there has been a lot of buzz and so many people want to learn the art of driving in the sands, I am posting this absolute newbie desert drive. 14. @ameen bhai you are most welcome to bring your Tiida to the meeting point and join one of us for the ride, we will drop you back to your car on return.
  15. I have had a Ford Explorer on one of my trips and it went everywhere with us with just one small stuck and with a little pull he was out in no time. So yes a Ford Explorer is a capable off-roader for the type of terrain we will be taking on. I will make sure to start it on an easy track just to give you a feel of the sand. As your comfort level increases I can take you through some small to medium dunes so that you can enjoy your ride and discover more about your ride and improve your skills. Looking forward to seeing you @wingnut
  16. Understood @Barry, I have a lot to learn from you guys.
  17. It would be our greatest pleasure @manums Karamullah has also aquired a Parrot drone and would like to test it out on this drive, so Go Pro Hero and Parrot Drone footage combined, excited to see the results. I bet its gonna be amazing.
  18. I would recommend he test drive both and than decide which one he feels is the better bet. Once he has pent his huge budget, he will never get back the value he has paid and it will be too late to change his mind. I am sure Al Naboodah will see his dilemma, interest in the purchase and assist him with test driving both models before he decides which one he wants to go for.
  19. @manums Thank you for your kind words, it was fun having your team on board and we all thoroughly enjoyed your company. @Gaurav Thank you for adding to the requirements of recovery points. Looking forward to an amazing morning out with my brothers.

  21. @aatish Now that the air has been cleared, it does feel nice to be removed from the asshole list of defame. Hahahhahahah
  22. @aatish Need to be more patient, i am one of the biggest assholes you flash. For your information I am close to 100 KPH and not 80 KPH, and the track you cal is for the fastest lane is actually an overtaking lane. When you flash me, I do indicate that I am overtaking and than change the lane as soon as I have completed my overtaking manoeuvre and once I have made sure it is safe to do so. My wish is not to block you when i know you need to reach yesterday, but I don't want to be stuck at 80 KPH behind someone driving in the second lane and I do not wish to overtake from the right. Your truely BIGGEST ASHOLE.
