haha.. I wish it was that simple, I have to drive it for a while and let the gears cool down, I don't have to exceed 3000 rpm and not exceed 100 km/h 😩
Common dude, you know RPM doesn't go over 3000 in intermediate drives 😅
See you next time man

Thanks buddy !
Trip leading is not on my immediate agenda yet. I will focus for now on sweeping and recovery activities, newbie guidance and help, navigation, second leads, and will take the appropriate time to enhance these skills and help out in the club where i can, so our newly appointed Marshals can focus on leading us boldly to places no man has gone before 😁
Super awesome man, very well said and deserved.. best of luck

Hopefully not, as Sri has done tremendous research and bribe the heat god to only wake up after 9
Or maybe after his weather observations and scientific analysis that night at the tip of the Fossil Rock, when the breeze only started at around 4 am 😂

you know how search goes man, you start with recovery point, you end up with bumpers and skid plates and LEDs and tents and camping, and travel destinations... it's painful
but i saw all sort of weird shapes, i don't even know if they fit in my car, the best thing to do is just search around in shops, do "window shopping" see what they do, what they have, get an idea of the cost.

They even sell them with the bridle for the path finders.
I am sure there are shops that can fabricate something like that
thanks to you, here's another hour gone googling around

Currently I too have been using the recovery points that come built in with the vehicle and have had no issues at all. I too like @Gaurav bhai tend to start slow and build up the tug strength with every pull. I always engage in 4 Low for a tug so I am never over 20 KPH. Some recoveries is better to dig a bit to have lesser load on the pulling vehicle. @G.huz if you find any good solution please do share, its always better to be safe than sorry.
you've been in this sport for way longer time, and driving the Pathfinder for longer time as well, am sure if there is anything out there you would've done it.
i'll check around, if i find something the made sense to me, i'll share for sure.

@G.huz don't worry buddy, i am pretty sure that the Pathfinder, as it's a very capable offroading machine, has very decent tow points, even though its built on unibody frame.
Taking care of below points can definitely minimize the risks involved:
1) Inspect your OEM recovery points (not tie-down points), and see if they are still in good shape (not bent, no severe corrosion).
2) Never exceed 15-20km/h when engaging in a pull or tug. Do several smaller tugs and slowly buildup the force.
3) Using soft shackles is at least less material flying around.
4) Divide the force whenever possible with a bridle configuration.
As mentioned before on Carnity, you can install the app called Wreckmaster, which is being used by professional recovery companies to assess the weight involved, based on the angle, weight of the vehicle, and surface resistance. While this gives you merely a number, it will help you to understand the difficulty rating of the recovery.
Some examples from the app:
* A 2 ton vehicle which is stuck on flat hard grass or gravel only takes 100 kg to tow.
* A 2 ton vehicle which is stuck in flat sand with all wheels will take 2000 kg to tow.
* A 2 ton vehicle which is stuck in a pocket with its wheels and needs to be pulled upwards on an angle of 20°will need 2667 kg to tow.
As the 2003 Pathfinder has a theoretical towing capacity of 5000lbs, or 2267kg, this would mean that the third example is taking more stress than what the vehicle in theory is built for. Of course these are calculations, and there are safety margins on the vehicle, and the kinetic energy also comes into play, but it is imho a good indication to see how far you will need to push your vehicle to do the third scenario.
duuuuuuuude... this is super, thank you
i need to check my recovery points, and am getting this extra short rope between 2 points for sure

I don't know what unibody is, I only have stock ones, I didn't add any... But why do we have to? As unibody cars?
"Winter is coming" though, I better check them soon before the season starts.

@Emmanuel, you know how much i love Sweihan, i might join in last minute, i need to finish something and time is gonna be critical, specially that it's almost 1.5 hrs drive to deflation point, is it possible to send me your number or whatsapp number? so i can send you if am gonna make it or not? or if you can whatsapp me, you probably have access to my number.
i tried to send you a msg here but couldn't, something related to my account... i get this msg "The page you are trying to access is not available for your accoung" i don't know if i have to do something, or is it blocked for normal users.
anyway, let me know plz

My last video, I promise... I felt the urge for sharing this one
The sand test is silly, they need to go test it on soft sands
seeing it in action is kinda cool though

I saw this way bay back when I used to actually buy a hardcopy of Popular Mechanics magazine. Developed by DARPA for the military I think. Michelin just put sidewalls on it to look like a regular tyre.
yes, i started looking for other videos, i spent my lunch break on this hehe... military used them, and saw a video of light machinery trucks using them
very cool stuff
8 hours ago, syedyaseer said:May be tire will have some kind of mechanism to adjust according to the road conditions
it does, when it's on hard surface, like rock crawling for example, might be perfect, i saw a video (but i didn't want to bore you guys with loads of videos and my enthusiasm toward this)
for desert and dune bashing, i don't know, since you kind of deflate for maximum grip, right?

WOW, look at this one... You only change the tread, it's like a cover
Now am all over the place checking this... Pretty cool
Notice the little off road bit put in there, it's another technology, but small idea, they didn't need to deflate
I need to find that bit now
