  1. What a fun drive! Thanks to @Kailas for choosing to push the 'Newbie' drive to (ahem...) higher goals lol What a tug, stuck, pop out, refusal fest it was, I think I came out as tugmaster general for the day with 3? This course was certainly a challenge to newbies, let alone to newbies with giant cars. @Kaleem Ur Rahmandon't lose heart brother, you will gain confidence as you gain experience and it will even become fun, trust me on this one! My elderly father in law had a hoot and was amazed at what we do for fun. Thanks to @Looperand @Imteeazfor handling the mid and tail crises, I hope you had fun. To the rest of the crew, great spirit guys, no matter how many times we stopped, there were no complaints and nothing but big beaming smiles from all. Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
  2. Thank you @M.Seidamfor a fun days driving. With able assistance from @marksand @Pacific and cool calm second lead @Gregory we shoveled and rumbled across the dunes with determination. I have to commend @Daniel Rodaswho was in front of me for his lines and his exhaust, I could always hear how much throttle was required for any particular obstacle😁
  3. Another rockin' drive from the guru of speed @Islam Soliman A tight group, great spirit, lots of refusals, beached whales and more shovelling than a Brit Prime Minister trying to save his job. @JeromeFJyou are the Tugmaster for sure. You pulled more guys off ridges today than I have ever seen before (maybe you should just leave the rope attached and wrap it around your bumper between tug jobs to save time?) @Naveen Rajwho knew a 3.0 5 door could do what you made her do today? Awesome job bro @munkybiznessyou made that big bird fly, its just the awkward landing that made a pop noise If this drive wasn't the best drive EVER, it's only because next weeks could be even better...
  4. Got my Al Hosn updated too! this will be brilliant... the fewer the better!!!
  5. What a fantastic morning's drive! I am physically tired from sawing the wheel back and forth for 5 hours. @Islam Solimantook us on a technical, convoluted and ultimately challenging fewbie plus course and it was just so much fun. We had a heap of refusals, go-rounds and stucks but at the end of the day, we learn from every event don't we? I got to do my first tug job and enough shovelling to keep me happy for weeks. Thanks for giving the the responsibility of second lead, it was a thrill to be up front again boss. Big thanks to all the team on this drive, the spirit was excellent and the team work was faultless. BRAVO!
  6. The National Drilling company and the CICPA will move in with their rigs and their pipelines and their barbed wire and guns and we will never see Sweihan again.
  7. What a day! Full credit to the management team for hearing our pleas and organising a second lead to take half the kean Sweihanites and make a second convoy @Mehmet Volgaand @Srikumaryou are both legends in my eyes. Poor old Sweihan is in a shocking state, its rutted, littered and crisscrossed by awful ruinous bulldozer tracks and countless kilometres of electrical cable, it breaks my heart to see this vandalism. Our little team on the second convoy set off and had some bouncy old travelling along with some lovely side slope and ridge riding action and then... Oopsies, we suffered a mechanical failure and had to limp out early. It happens and it is ineveitable that when it does that the team will swing into action and do the needful to ensure safety and support for those in need. Well done guys, there was no complaining and a very competent effort by all. Looking forward to mother nature restoring Sweihan in her own good time:-(
  8. Also waitlist first drive There is probably enough interest to run two groups?
  9. Your engine is an air pump. You make it easier to get air in/exhaust out and you’re half way there. Your 3.8 is a MIVEC engine so it only makes real power up high in the rpm range… you can help it do it’s job by putting free flow exhaust and hp air filter in it but my experience has been that getting the ECU flashed provided the greatest boost. The new map raised the rev limiter 500rpm and also cuts the cooling fan in earlier as well as giving a power boost. IMHO, money well spent.
  10. No apology required brother, this is a team sport and all opinions are worthy of consideration.
  11. Well what an eventful drive! My first at sweep and I have to say first of all, respect to all the previous sweeps out there, that soft Dubai sand REALLY gets choppy by the time nine other trucks have slid, skidded and wheelspun their way across it! We had a nice technical, ridgy didge track through the dunes with lovely cool temperatures to keep things calm. Quite a few refusals and stucks indicate the the challenge was real but I have to say, as usual the teamwork was tip top and we all swung in behind the fellows in need to get things moving again. We enjoyed a special 'learning event' when the mighty land whale of @Michel Van Woudenbergdecided to have a little lie down in a pocket which required managment intervention to help extricate. All good, lots of opinions voiced (thanks @Thomas Varghese) and a safe rescue was achieved. My thanks to @sertacfor planning an interesting course and to @Serafinofor keeping a steady hand on the tiller with a special mention to @ShereenMKrolling at number 9 in such a competent and sure footed way, I never had to worry about what was happening in front of me, I could just concentrate on picking the ruts I was going to plow through Already looking forward to the next one.
  12. As the rookie in the mighty Saluki team, I felt it was my role to "just dont get stuck, don't let the team down, JUST DONT GET STUCK WARREN!" so I was running at a nervous number 3 behind @Chaitanya D and @Anoop Nair with mighty @Matt.Tand the esteemed @Hisham Masaad right behind me! It was with some relief that the ace navigation at the rear with sure handed lead at the front allowed me an enjoyable if thoroughly challenging route through the challenging dunes at the start of our reversed trip. It was great fun to pick pocket the dunes and not let the team down other than a go around refusal and a reverse out self recovery which ended up being my only contributions to the delay which allowed @Wrangeldto claim the trophy from us. The day was fantastic fun and I want to congratulate the Carnity team that conceptualised and organised the event and ran it in such a light handed and fun way. BRAVO! Favourite part of the day? the hot run across the sabkha featuring speeds I have never before achieved on the sand... Baja 1000 next year anybody? The Gadjero arrived home, hot, tired but undamaged and with spirits high, ready for next year? HELL YES
  13. Thanks @Wrangeld for organising, thanks @Shaaz Sha for leading, thanks @sertacfor 2nd leading, thanks @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilfor CF'ing and thanks @Matt.Tfor sweeping my first drive at Fewbie Plus. I really enjoyed myself and the terrain gave me ample opportunity to experiment with my 'certainly not legal in Sharjah' exhaust... I am amazed at how beaten down and filthy this area of desert has become and it saddens me that people still dump their trash with utter disregard, it is only a matter of time until the authorities start clamping down on EVERYBODY as punishment for these filthy few. If the club does want to run a cleanup drive, I am certainly in. Anyway, rant over, it was a good mix of technical dune driving and some challengingly rutty and well used side slopes. I look forward to going 'home' to Sweihan...
  14. Nice! The problem is, my SWB Gadgy is a little tinfoil box with low cost sound deadening so it’s like sitting in a tin drum😂
  15. I find mine drones a bit at highway speed but from outside it is fine. I may put a ‘resonator’ on the backend to tone it down just a little… we’ll see😆
  16. Not only no Cat, now I have no rear muffler and the main can replaced with valvetronic CCP muffler. BRROOOOM!!! Now the Gadgero climbs dunes like a goat!
  17. Hi Richard, the meeting point is a tree? is it impossible to miss? Cheers Warren
  18. Let your budget be your guide. I don’t think I can name a brand on here?
  19. My two cents worth (as I'm sure you already know...) none of the above listed upgrades are even remotely 'necessary' and the personal experience of every person who has gone down the various routes to personalise their rides will vary widely. Right! having put up my caveats, here is my experience. I fitted a 40mm lift kit being springs and shocks. At this level, there is no need to upgrade the upper arms. This allows me to hit the bumps harder and land softer (including judder bars on the road) I 100% recommend this upgrade as the car drives far better with this modification (in my opinion) and handles the dunes very well. Stock 18 inch rims remain with no spacers but higher series tyres give a 5% increase in speed at same rpm which makes the car more economical on the road (ha ha) but had the effect of making what had been a 2nd gear climb into a 1st gear climb due to the higher gearing. When these current tyres are finished, I will go back to the stock height tyres. Your experience may vary but this has been mine. Cheers Wazza
