  1. Hi Jeepies,

I want your recommendation for a reputable garage that can take the engine apart of a 2015 Grand Cherokee with 3.6L engine. I believe everybody knows about the ticking sound issue related to the valve lifters in this engine.

A close friend of mine bought this vehicle from agency in 2015, so far he has changed the diff and gearbox under warranty (which really raises big question marks on the quality Jeep is building) and recently he started having the ticking sound from the engine and it's getting worst by day... All this and the car is still under 100K km. I'm worried that the lifters have already damaged the cam shaft/rocker arms or other components as the noise can be now heard from a distance...

Obviously it is out of warranty, and the agency is requesting ridiculous amount to fix it (might be cheaper to buy a new one), and he has reached me for help in recommending a good garage.

I appreciate if you can give us some advice.

@Gauravdo you have issues if we get a recommendation for a list of multiple garages?

  2. 2019 comes in v8 5.6L 400hp and v6 4.0L 275hp.

The older 2010-2015 models come in two v8 options both 5.6L but one with 320Hp and 400hp.

Basically on such a heavy vehicle the fuel consumption on a v6 is very much similar to the v8. In certain occasions I found that the v8 consumes less!

It depends how you drive the vehicle and at what speeds, can vary pretty much between city and highway.

The best I got on highway and on speeds less than 120 (around 110) was 14L/100km, but this if you reset the meter while driving on the highway.

Combined city+highway: i never got anything better than 19-20L/100km.

Sometime it goes up to 22L/100km.

If you drive it un city alone, then you need a petrol station connected behind you.

  3. @Gok Krishi'm not an expert but did you check your coolant and engine oil? Is there any sign of water mixing with oil or did the coolant level decrease? As these are the main sings of a blown head gasket. Also Was it really a white smoke, not greyish or blueish smoke?

I have a feeling it is an engine misfiring issue, might be due to faulty ignition coil or a faulty injector...

Dear Islam.. my FJ kill switch is giving me some problem.. and interfering with the crawl control and Diff lock.. please excuse me for tomorrow drive and I shall exit.. I hope everyone enjoys the drive and be all safe as usual.

Is it an ABS KILL switch? If yes then you should switch it off (abs active) when you want to use your crawling system. As far as I recall, Also the diff lock must be off for crawling to work.
