Afternoon Fewbie Desert Drive - West of Sweihan: toward Talal Resort - Abu Dhabi - 10 August 2024

Drive Details

Level:  Fewbie and above (all levels)

Meeting time:  3:00 PM (departure time)

Action Plan:  An area previously explored during the "South of Africa" series (as the entry point is just south of the "Africa-shaped" farm where most of Sweihan's drives start), we'll delve a bit longer in this location, following the line drawn by a series of bowls, which will eventually lead us from the Sweihan-Al Ain road, most likely, to exit just next to the beautiful Tilal Resort. By the way, for those of you who wish to have a nice aperitif and Saturday night dinner, you should try their restaurant just after the drive.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

Approximate finish time: 7:00 PM

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

RECOMMENDED OFF-ROAD GEAR:

• Tire deflator & Tire pressure gauge
• Compressor (MANDATORY)
• Walkie-talkie radio (MANDATORY)
• Off-road flag (MANDATORY)
• Shovel, Tow Rope & 2 Shackles
• First-aid kit
• Fire extinguisher.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

• This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 12 PM.
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

Dear Desertnauts,

a quick briefing about tomorrow's drive.

We'll meet just off to the right of the Sweihan-Al Ain Rd., opposite one of the usual meeting spots for drives aimed at Nagrah, Nahil, etc. This is Sweihan's south/western sector. We'll follow the line drawn on the map by successive bowls, until we eventually may loop back to the highway, in case we make very good time, or take a turn toward the Tilal Resort. Nothing has been planned with regard to this, but of any of you would like to stop for a drik at the idyllic resort overlooking the dunes, we can do that just about after sunset.

The convoy's order is the following:

@Ale Vallecchi thanks for the location. The Adnoc in sweihan is about 65kms ahead of the meeting point, i was thinking more like Adnoc AlSaad which is only about 10-12kms after the meeting point, distance is less will reserve more fuel for the Jeeps

To follow up with Gurcharan's question, the closest gas station to the meeting point is along E20 in Sweihan Town, here:

@Ale Vallecchi thanks to you and the entire convoy for one of the best drives of the summer. Everyone drove really well and flowed through the dunes!

The get together at the end of the drive for juice at the resort was a great way to get to know fellow members better.
