paulnat1
hi, guys. lately i've been having concerns about the fuel consumption of my car. since it's a 2.4-liter engine, i'm quite aware that it consumes more gasoline than my previous car, which had a 1.8-liter engine. and i'm also starting to have doubts about the car's Eco button. i just would like to know if there are other ways to reduce fuel consumption besides leaving the Eco button switched on. maybe i have to reduce the weight of the car or drive at a decent speed? hope to hear your feedback on this one. aliasusdxb
Depends what car do you drive if its a heavy car it won't make a difference if its a light car make sur to drive it below 3000 RPM that should help
zaki.hussain
What average is your car giving ? I also drive Optima 2.4ltrs, and the average fuel consumption is 8 litres per 100kms which I belive is pretty decent for a 2.4ltrs engine.
aliasusdxb
I dont Get that Zaki the minimum i get in city driving is 10.5 - 11.1 8.0 is city or highway, I get 7.0 - 8.0 on a highway even less than that some times. If you are getting 8.0 in the city that is very good
zaki.hussain
10.5 to 11 is a very high consumption average for a 2.4ltrs engine. Suggest you have the car checked. My worst in heavy traffic driving is 9.0, but my overall average is 8.0. I calculate another way that about Dhs.100 of fuel gives me roughly 650 to 700 kms. aliasusdxb
So you guys are saying that the ECO button dosent make any difference
zaki.hussain
As per my experience the ECO button doesn't really make any difference inf fuel economy. The only difference it seems to be making is the car losing power. So I never use it.
aliasusdxb
actually it does make a difference if you drive in a particular way
