Thanks for everything, coaching, advices, and the fellowship feeling. Yesterday it was really awesome. Sharing some pictures.

10k is nothing. I’ve bought cars with 3-400k on the clock and they have been fine. Ask yourself if you want the 3 or 400 bhp model and why. The 400 bhp model would be fun but will you use that extra 100 bhp? If you’re just commuting then it’s pointless. If you’re going to street race then it makes sense. 300 bhp is a lot. You can make good progress and accelerate to overtake anything at legal speeds. What are you planning to do with 400 bhp?

It was a lovely drive and the flexibility of the senior team to quickly reschedule based on the events was a clear proof that this is an off-road club of members that genuinely care for each-other and take up responsibilities when asked. @EmVarlet @Asif Hussain took us newbies out for a wonderful drive while @Rahimdad and @Gaurav did what they do best: help others and spread the community core message of leaving no-one behind. Thanks guys you both gave us full confidence and guidance ! What i really admire in this off-road club is the family style approach and the lack of testosterone and braggers as you will find in many other clubs. Surely the senior team members of the club attributed to his massively and i want to thank them for that. @Atif thanks for the cafeteria "Prado" style @Gaurav thanks for taking my manual-tranny-granny up to Pink Rock, i had a blast and your knowledge is priceless ! @Rahimdad thanks for just being you, a wonderful and gentle guy that i hope i can continue to learn so much from ! Since a few days this lovely Japanese green devil is parked and left abandoned in our community. It belonged to one of the neighbours but they seem to have disappeared overnight. Is this a 240SX ? It needs a front bumper and quite some parts seem to be missing but i wonder about the value and it makes my heart bleed to see this standing here. I can only assume fixing this up is gonna cost quite some Dirhams due to the availability of the parts.

With the weather getting better it's time to have an absolute newbie or newbie level drive. All first timer absolute newbie will be given a proper introduction of sand off-roading before they start from seasoned offroaders having over decades of UAE offroad experience. Idea is to make an absolute newbie comfortable with sand off-roading and in some of the most approachable set of sand dunes in Tawi Nizwa side. It's a perfect drive for people aspiring to start dune bashing or offroading in the sand as a new hobby. And wish to explore the UAE offroad natural beauty and unleash the hidden power of your 4x4 vehicle. For newbies, it's a perfect drive to learn more and advance to fewbie level and start enjoying more advance level drives as per your offroad grades. All experienced members are requested to join in helping newbies by imparting their off-road expertise. Well, to be honest, Emanuel asked us few times to take newbies for short spin but we were hoping to fix that strangers pop-out in 10 minutes. Things got real ugly when we realized that they have already moved the car quite a lot on a popped out tire to remove the seam from both sides and rubber lost its shape. We finally left them with our tools to let them figure out on how to pick the spare wheel lock as fixing the popped tire was FUBAR. For the testosterone, we have seen and detest those who can piss further contest so many times that we like to enjoy the Friday without any 6 days politics or usual rivalries or peer pressure on who can spend most on cars and mods / gears/gadgets etc. @Julien V and @Frederic Nuyttens please post your pictures in gallery section always, as after every drive we create an album for that drive and images in the gallery are stored on a permanent basis. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/94-absolute-newbie-offroad-drive-pink-rock-02-nov-2018

I’ve had a few BMW M3s, E36s. 2 x M3, M3 Evo and M3 Evo Individual. I’ve had a couple of lesser model 318 and 325 too. All were flawless apart from one of the standard M3s which was a ball of dung, which was purely down to neglect by the previous owner. The Evo Individual had a Vanos issue but that was easy fixed with a cheap rebuild kit. If you want a BMW, buy one. People will say the brand is unreliable but if you believe everything you read on the internet you will stop driving cars and buy a bicycle. Sure they break down sometimes, just like any other car, but if you want a car with lots of extra features that’s the price to pay. People in uae rave about Japanese cars being the best thing since powdered milk and the most reliable thing next to a biryani from ravis. That’s because they’re simple, there’s nothing to go wrong. Engine, air conditioning and a radio. If everyone stuck wheels on their sofa and pedalled around, life would be no fun. Drive what you want to drive but make sure you buy a good, well looked after example and care for it properly. If the electric handbrake stops working, fix it. Otherwise go out and buy a Camry and be like every other boring taxi driver in Dubai. It’s not watching reruns of top gear that makes you a petrolhead, it’s going out and driving what you want to drive. Plenty of people have laughed at my car on here and other forums but I don’t care because it cost me under 10k and I know it would smoke many 100k+ cars.

yes diffs have seen then go in jiffy literally just outside the shop at about 100 meters the cars just big boom and then lots of sound and oil dripping it was a cherokee with a supra engine....the owner just came out and was scratching his head....

A person who pays a quarter of million for one does not think if there are parts available for it at the scrap yard. P.S: Adding to my last post. Earlier Land Rovers and defenders had a great presence here, in the early days was literally the only car that could survive out here and drive in the sandy terrain. This was when going from Dubai to Abu Dhabi there was no road and you basically followed the beach. And you can say it literally built this country The army had them even the police had them, very popular with date palm and camel farm owners and not uncommon in the roads too.

It's because its got a crappy diesel engine out of a ford transit van and they want around quarter of a million dirhams for that. Not many other than rich diehard fanbois willing to dish out that much money for an anemic utilitarian vehicle that struggles at the best of times in the dunes. Land Rover or rather BMW ( once again nothing good comes from BMW )shot themselves in the foot for the middle east market way back in 1997 when decided ti stop making V8 defenders.

Good idea to have another absolute newbie / newbie drive especially after the very positive response from the last drive. Hope all the newbies join this drive and learn the beautiful art of offroading. You will understand why i say 'Art' when you meet and see some of the senior members who dont just drive but rather glide through the desert dunes.
