Dont worry buddy. Anyone in fewbie level and above qualify for this drive, it's just that it is going to be few notches above regular fewbie level and that's why its called fewbie+. There is no hard and fast rule or numbers of fewbie drive participant should have, if you have driven any fewbie drive with Carnity Offroad Club and you managed very well in that and wish to notch up your level, then this drive is perfect for such offroaders.

As per the recent interest from a lot of Fewbies, who want to see what lies in the intermediate level, so joining this fewbie+ level drive will give you a perfect opportunity to enjoy "almost" intermediate level drive that will be paced according to the convoy response. Area 53 is the most versatile area in the UAE offroading scene, that offers beautiful tall rolling dunes with plenty of opportunities for side slopping, ridge cutting, and long hill climbs. We may promote few fewbie drivers to Intermediate level after this drive, if there driving skills are at par to match the pace. @J JOSE I have the 2017 JGC and the average FE is between 8.4 to 8.9 in city. On long drives I get over 10.5 kmpl. If I were you I'd weigh my options and preferences carefully as this would be a long term investment. Since you only want a vehicle to use to office and back with no intentions to use it offroad and particular about the FE, why are you looking at a 4x4? You rather invest in a good sedan with all the features that you need and it may work out cheaper overall and give you a way better FE. Back to the JGC, I have driven it almost 40k km in a year and have had absolutely no issues in terms of road usage or stability but if you do ever have issues, it is going to be more expensive to fix compared to your other options. As a person who loves cars, I'd say don't only go with FE unless you are really driving a lot as in time you will regret it and will always have that voice inside you saying ' I should have gone with what I really wanted'. Speaking from experience here. 😥

My 2 cents worth....if it were me ..it would be Lexus GX. You get the best of both wrolds ...legendary Japanese reliability and better resale...and of course being a Lexus ...its great. Depends on what you want in the end... Spend less, reliable , resale ..good average ride. - Prado Spend some more, reliable, a great looking head turning ride with all sorts of features Jeep....don't know much ..I have test driven it ... it's definitely a great ride...but resale is bad..so it's not for me. You really have to love the ride to want it. Nothing wrong with it. I choose the GX because it's a great mix. Good luck

Thank you, great to be here! i am planning for an upgrade from my current Toyota camry, which i had it for the last 10 years. i have a few options in mind, but difficult to choose from, look forward for your advice. Lexus GX460 2014 Prado V6 limited 2018, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. the Vehicle will be used for normal office drive, no plans for desert, my first preference would be reliability and fuel economy of vehicles. i look forward for your replies. i will be test driving GX460 2017 model today, because i really got blow away by the features of this car.

I have said this before and I will say it again. If your cooling system has a problem, find it and fix it. Removing the thermostat is a bodge that uae mechanics do when they can’t find the cause of the problem. No offence intended @desertdude but it’s a hack job done by people who don’t understand how a cooling system works. Same as people bypassing the interior heater matrix pipes. Why? Other than being a cheap ass? I don’t know about other people but I like to have all the systems on my car working. The manufacturer designed it that way for a reason. If you want to trust some shitty rashidiya or Sharjah mechanic then go ahead.

I can’t wait to see discounts on fines abolished completely. If discounts are available regularly, people will continue to break the law. It’s simple, don’t drive like a AH, stick to the rules and you won’t get fined. If everyone obeyed the rules there would be less accidents and less deaths here.

Thanks Guys for sharing all the different ways for salik recharge. Let me try with my RAK bank credit card and see if I get cash back on salik recharge or not I really like @Brette idea of linking my ENBD account for auto pay, much tension free option

I have an 08 nissan sentra special edition. Whenever I try to start the engine it always turns then won't start. It usually takes one of two turns of the key to get it started.This doesn't happen only when I first crank it up in the morning and after I get gas. Any ideas?

Lap57 in Al Quoz, is a great non-dealer honda shop. I buy a lot of OEM original parts there and Rasvi and His team know their stuff from running hondas for years in endurance racing.. Now this is not to say they just do race cars, as that oftern scares people off. but they are in-fact well trained Honda experts and thus get my recommendation, which is not given often in this town

Reliability and resale will be more with Toyota, then Lexus and last will be in Jeep. Comfort and features will be more in Jeep than Japanese. @Brette has similar JGC can advise on the fuel economy for road usage. It's best you drive all of them to see which one fits your taste more as they all are equally good. My only advice is to filter one of the Japanese so that you can compare either Prado OR GX vs JGC, to have a fair comparison.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a V6 Clio but it’s a similar setup. There’s a half height firewall behind the seats and a cover on top of the engine.

Maybe a weak battery. Let your battery be check.

@luwaimn sorry this is for Fewbie driver level and above. If I'm not mistaken you've completed only one newbie drive. Please do share with us if you have previous experience so that we might consider your joining this drive. @Brette very good question also. Anyone who has done at least a couple of Fewbie drives and has confidence to take it to the next level may join this drive. However these are fast paced drives and minimum stoppage time for recoveries is highly appreciated.

Renault still make some cool cars. Its old age and nostalgia. What we had when we were kids was always better but in reality, cars are faster now than they have ever been. Having a car with 100 bhp used to be something special. Now you can go out and buy a 250 bhp standard car with no mods.

Reanult use to make such capable high performance cars in the past that does not reflect with their present-day cars

It's actually 5 days or 120 hours till you get fined.

I have it linked to my credit card from Emirates NBD. When the balance drops below AED 20, it automatically tops up for another AED 50. If you do run out of currency on your salik, you will get an SMS the next time you pass a toll gate and have 48 hours to top up before you are fined. This happenned to me once before I set it up with the bank.

I pay Salon through my ADCB app on my mobile, takes me only a few seconds to log in and pay. I get my ADCB touchpoints for every transaction.

Trip Report. What a magical day. Started with a sprinkle of rain. Reached to the meeting point to find everybody waiting. Great to see such enthusiasm and energy. After our newbie brief we headed to the deflation point. Once the convoy numbering was assigned we were off. The new comers and first timers were absolutely putting everything briefed in to practice. After a couple of refusals we tried to move but had to stop as one of the cars was having a slight issue. The car was safely guided back to the road and the owner joined Emmanuel to learn from the passenger seat. We started again and the weather kept us very comfortable. As we slowly but steadily made it towards Pink Rocks, we came across a few camels. Not to disturb them from their breakfast we parked our cars at a distance and started to walk towards them. They were gracious to accept us in their terrain and after a few hugs, pets and selfies we were back to our cars and headed to the base of Pink Rocks. As we came close to the Pink Rocks we could see and hear the roaring engines of those playing on the Pink Rocks. Eventually we made it to the base and settled down. I should thank everybody for some amazing breakfast, looked better than what the camels were having and surely tasted wonderful. As we came to the end of our breakfast everyone was quick to help pack up. At this point we headed to the top of Pink Rocks, everybody made it to the top which is commendable for first timers and newbies. We headed out in a slightly more challenging track which bought us out to 2nd December Cafeteria which was closed for Friday prayers. With a little helping hand we could inflate all the cars. At this point we headed back home, or Friday prayers for the Muslims. And @Emmanuel, @Srikumar and I headed to Al Faqa area for the afternoon drive. Well done to all and looking forward to to many more drives. All newbies please do share your experience. My pictures have already been updated in the Gallery.

You’re not going to get live traffic data on an offline map. Joying is android based so you’re spoilt for choice with apps. Maps.me is pretty good though for offline maps.

No idea, but what I can tell you with certainty is that SUV's are getting uglier with each new release.

Just change the shocks with the pardo and you should be all set with the gx
