A bit late to report on my first ride with you guys, but here it goes : -Pre-ride : The website is easy to understand and registering for a ride is very straightforward All the info on required gear and preparation is already on the website, very well organized and extremely easy to find. The ranking system is clear and shows that the club has a serious structure and can be trusted - it is an extreme sport is some ways! -During the ride Great brief by @Rahimdad , @Srikumar & @Emmanuel -> Felt at ease from the start, everything was covered in details from driving techniques, recovery methods, to safety measures After 20 minutes of riding on my first dunes, I got to experience my first self-recovery with the expert help of @Srikumar guiding me on how to master the 'bleep bleep' technique! I got out in 30 seconds ! At this point, I was getting fed up with my traction control and @hossein showed me the lights, literally! He showed me what fuse to remove to completely disable the traction control & abs 😄. After that, I felt the power, all the lights came on my dashboard (the xmass lights) & I was able to make my first jump 🤣🤣 The break was great and I got to meet & share a meal with most of the regulars that I see on a weekly basis now. Following the break, the convoy was eager to drive more so we drove for an additional 1h30 and I believe that it was at that point that was hooked 😂 We arrived at our deflation point and @Srikumar was kind enough to lend me his compressor so I can get going! I got home safely and at no point whatsoever during the drive, I felt unsafe or at risk like with some other clubs that I tried later on. @Rahimdad's lead was excellent for newbies with a good learning curve from start to finish. -After the ride It was great to find all the pictures on the gallery, you keep a trace of each ride and I now try to take as much as I can and share! Discussing the drive and getting tips was even more natural to do on the forum since I knew most of the guys responding, and it's a way to keep in contact between two drives! Sorry it's a long one !

Dear @Gaurav it was indeed a pleasure. Please keep us posted if any newbie ride is planned in the upcoming public holiday which may fall either on 2nd or 3rd April. It was real fun and the best thing is we learn a lot on being patient. Though we rule the roads, we realize that the desert rules us.

It's an easy, chilled out all level offroad drive to be perfect for newbies and fewbies offroaders and ending with a family BBQ at Pink Rock area. Depending on the number of signups we might split into different convoys of newbies and fewbies to have a different level of drive for all the participants. Tawi Nazwa to Pink Rock offers perfect opportunity to learn in a very safe and easy track to medium rolling dunes. Looking for an easy relaxing drive for everyone with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, hill climb, and ridge riding. Newbies and Fewbies will have a great chance to see and learn the real fun that off-roading offers in a very safe and organized environment. Guys. Finally it was heart over mind. Was looking for Pajero. Ended up buying Prado. Believe me im enjoying every inch of it. I did compare my initial few days of driving with fortuner. Alhamdulillah im very much satisfied with the ride quality. Also happy that im not feeling any uneasiness due to my back pain issue. This will be my 4th car in UAE since i started my career in UAE.

WOW! What a day! It was my first drive as a newbie, the day was started with the struggle to reach the meeting point due to fog but I was on time. David helped me to remove my rear bumper. The brief from the Rahim and Gaurav was fantastic and all my questions were answered with lots of information about the safety, desert driving, and the car. All the marshalls were amazingly monitored every driver from the front and back, correct them as required. at one point, I was unable to clear and got stuck. I was about to recall the brief, what to do next? but from the blink of an eye, I saw Gaurav behind me start giving instructions and I was out peacefully.👍 Everyone was very helpful and ready to do their part, we ended with a fantastic breakfast which was my 2nd time in the day :) the only thing missing was the Karak chai. (i will bring next time) I have learned a lot of things and will definitely be a part of this family. :) And finally, the hug from Rahim bhai was very special.:) 👍 "you all guys are amazing" Stay Blessed! Not really sure if they have Friday prayers in the Mosque near Tawi Nizwa shops, but 5 minutes drive to the other side near the farms there is a Mosque I normally attend my Friday prayers. Meet me at 12:30 at Tawi Nizwa shops and we will cross over to pray Friday prayers and meet the convoy at 1 pm

@razeen hasan thanks for your valuable feedback, it really means a lot to see how newbie perceive and how we can improvise. Just for FYI for every newbie, @Asif Hussain is a backbone of this offroad club and not just managing the WhatsApp broadcast messaging. He is a very senior member and an awesome offroader who has been recently off the grid due to changing his offroad ride.

@Frederic I was speaking to @Gaurav bhai yesterday and I'm pleased to know that you performed very well. I'm sorry to everyone that I was not able to make it for the amazing drive. But over time I will try my level best to make it up to you all. @Gaurav bhai mentioned that even @G.huz and @amir.rophail did amazingly well too. The extended @Carnity family is growing at a very healthy proportion and I'm very pleased for everyone part of this journey.

It was a first time for me today and being an absolute newbee, i wasnt sure in the begining if i had made a right choice tagging along with this group. But the day was full of suprises, and loads of fun. Firstly i would like to thank @Rahimdad & @Gaurav and not to forget @Eduardo and the others( sorry forgot their names) who really made my day. the whole day was perfectly organised. got stuck twice and superman Gaurav was there in a blink to tell me what do do next. and voila!! all solved in a second. the amazing thing was not just the drive alone. it was also the passion we could see in these people in regards to being helpful. i have come across many people organising a lot of events. but these people were with you in every aspect when needed. They emphasized so much on safety and i thank them for it. i would like to thank Asif also for the broadcast and assistance. in Short i dont know if its the people today or if its the drive that was the best. Lets give it a tie. Both the people and the drive today were the best . i am looking forward to be on the next drive very soon. cant wait to deflate my tires again

I used a system like that a while back to find a pinking cylinder. Had 4 magnetic microphones and a pair of headphones and a switch to change channel. A lot of uses for it, only limited by your imagination. As @Gaurav said, the majority of workshops here are ill equipped. Some don’t even have basic stuff like a multimeter, just a bulb taped to a screwdriver. I’ve been here 3 years and I don’t even think I’ve seen a timing light. I tried to go to a tool store to buy one once and they were like, what’s that, so I had to do my best and set it by ear. Forget about dial gauges and stuff, not going to happen. I got really lucky this time. Started in a new shop that was just taken over. It has a tool room that nobody has ever been in. The previous owner was some rich German guy who ordered one of everything out of the catalog. I spent a couple of hours the other day and my mind was blown by stuff that I was finding. I’ve never even seen some of this stuff in main dealer shops if been in. When was the last time you seen a set of spiral sockets? I’ve hired a good team of guys, the kind of nerds who like to stay up all night on the internet and read stuff, not the kind of guys who learn to change brake pads and decide, ok I’m a mechanic now. So big hopes and dreams of moulding some minds and encouraging thinking outside the box, and it might actually work. There comes a time to say I’m fed up rolling in dung.

It was really amazing experience with the experts like @Rahimdad @GauravI felt like I was going n a team where I always ( never felt like I am new to the team) frankly speaking I personally have some kind of resistance to mingle with new people and that resistance was not there when I meet with the team thanks to all of you for accepting me in and for the drive. i have done earlier few small drives alone and with my office colleagues and it was still I can say just an learner stage and when I start with carnity the way it was organized was fantastic like startup briefing what we call in our industry is tool box talk and the discipline of team members was amazing. Hope I have followed the instructions and willing to join upcoming drives as far as possible

How much did you enjoy your first drive? Emil. It was an awesome experience after being a passenger with rahim bhai on the first day. I was waiting to try the tips he gave. What did you enjoy about the drive? Emil. Driving down the steep dunes and most importantly aloo paratta at the end of the drive. Which part of the drive you think you enjoyed the best which you would like to repeat? Emil. Cutting the dunes. Do you think there was a good mix of lecture and practical, was the lecture too long, and any part that can be avoided or done in a shorter or different way? Yes, not long, nothing I can think of. Do you think anything elese could be added to the lecture? Nothing at the moment. Do you think prior reading material would help? yes, more videos on website for a newbie will be helpful. Like descent tips, approaching a dune etc. Would you know where on the Carnity forum you would be able to find the information you are looking for? Not fully aware. Is there anything you think could be done in a better way? Nope. How do you suggest to make things better for the new comers? Totally appreciate your guidance to a newbie especially on getting the flag, clamp, inflators, deflator etc. How do you think you can progress within the current atmosphere and learning opportunities provided? Continuously learning.
