from what i remembered in the past, chip-tuning gives you improvement over the rpm range, but not so much on the top range (+4000 rpm) but i could be wrong. I've always been very reluctant to do chip-tuning on a car that has +80,000 km on the clock. There are so many variables that come into play when going offroad. The extreme temperatures and behavior of engine and transmission are calculated with enough margin by the manufacturer. Playing around with these settings might work fine on-road, but could give very bad results offroad. On the 3.8 SWB i think the car is more than powerful enough to get you through extreme terrain. I would spend that cash on minor upgrades (cold air intake, exhaust, iridium plugs) or other things that will slightly bump the performance without messing with the OEM ECU settings.

I recall that as per my last research to harness real power gain of Unichip you need to upgrade the spark plugs, coils and HT lead. That's where MSD came in the picture and this duo of Unichip + MSD Ignition does wonder for many 4x4 but not in Pajero case. If anyone has done this power mod in Pajero, please share your experience. My personal advise @Jas Gajaria don't jump into it based hearsay unless you see 1 Pajero with Unichip running for at least 6 months without busting the engine or causing any complications. All power mods are relatively short life and that's why car manufacturer tune engines on conservative hp and torque figures. You push this number higher, lesser the engine life becomes.

looks like he was coming too fast and too close to the other Landcruiser, so he might have applied the braked agressively, causing the car to sink away in the soft sand and tip over. Why aren't these guys using the flags or radios ?

Thanks @hossein for sharing the user guide of Pajero omani hack as suggested by many Pajero owners. By reading this hack, for sure I wouldn't recommend or advise anyone as it says that you should always drive on LLC means a LO gear, which itself is a kicker for any car if you plan to use it for next few years. Secondly, this trick the transmission to be in limp mode and that's not actually you want when offroading. So pretty disappointed to know how it's done. @Asif Hussain thank god you didn't opt for Pajero thinking that this Omani hack will cure the issue.

Trust me you can never land up in such situation unless you plan to do such crazy stunt to let car fly of 40- 50 meters at the speed of 80 kmph. My friend has the Hummer H3 and takes it for camping trips in UAE and Oman. He's happy with the performance but it is not a dune-bashing kind of car.

If you want to perform a stunt like this make sure you are prepared. Practice at slower speeds to make sure you are getting a straight lift and not side ways. Slowly increase your speed on each attempt to understand how your car reacts and you can prepare yourself for the final jump. Remember you are using natural sand which is always shifting as your ramp and do not have firm controlled ground. As @Gaurav bhai said, do not attempt stunts, but if you do prep yourself before you cause any incident. At that speed you have very little time to react and also the impact is hard and difficult to get away, but counter steer and keeping up the power instead of letting go can help to some extent.

As far as you have driven in the sand before, and you are not an absolute newbie in the sand then you will be fine with the night drive in the desert. @Rahimdad trip leader will do the briefing explaining all the points of convoy driving, safety, 4x4 familiarization, self-recovery and all essentials of night drive before the drive.

Off-road lights are recommended. Since you will be following other car, stock light with high beam is more than enough.

But that with issue for 2008- 2011 Pajeros i hope. 2012 and after its holding the gears doesn't shift while climbing.

Best decision, Unichip does magic to your pajero . With 3.8 you can have a gain of 25-35 Hp which makes a lot of difference. I have driven a 3.8 pajero and felt the difference. Buying and fixing a Unichip doesnt make any difference . Tune it with professionals and you can feel the difference. With Q4 its usually for vehicles with lot of sensors. Authorised professionals tuning is Moca.check with them the compatibility about Q4.
