You will have to put champion plugs other don't go well with it and the one which has the coil over plug engine they have to go with moper plugs

Looks so nice inside and outside! If there is no serious problem with her, I would spend my money! I guess that the price should not be super high.

I noticed a very nice Toyota Chaser Tourer passing me by a few days back, Since he had a "Classic" license plate, i suspect it was a X90 5th generation model. The car pulled like a rocket on Al Qudra and i was amazed to see in which condition it was. Anyone has seen these before here in UAE ? Before that day i've never seen one here. I am not sure if it was a LHD or RHD (even allowed as Classic car here ?)

I dunno I have a feeling even if you can sort it out it won't stand the stress and snap after a while. Because a flag is wobbly off-road and creating stress in all directions for the entire time. Hi, Need some help with the spark plugs. Its time for me to change them and when I checked the market, they informed that the OEM (Mopar) is available for AED 75 (for set of 6) and those made by Champion is available for AED 45 (for set of 6). But what I have understood is that Mopar spark plugs are either made by Champion or NGK. Any inputs? Ofcourse, the safe option would be to go with the Mopar spark plugs, but is this just a case that the same manufacturer when branded under OEM becomes more expensive?

Come to offroad drives @Barry only if our dear friend @Srikumar can think of a name for his photography club to be formed in Carnity since few light years. May be we can help him here for name suggestion that can combine offroad+photography, so that aspiring photographer with camera's can have an hour or two break or late exit for pursuing this night photography, nature, stunts, portraits, selfies etc.

I'll leave the actual what went wrong for others, but cameramen car could have given some stern warning or advise him to stop after the first incident, to avoid the second close call. Clearly shows that Silver Pajero maneuvering with tarmac estimates and had no clue how sand and dunes especially behaves. Firstly for Honda Accord the recommended engine oil grade is 5w-30 and not 10w-40. It's better to use full synthetic grade. Have you noticed any oil leaks where you have parked your vehicle? And by how much has the oil reduced in level?

Go to aweer used car complex and get yourself a Jap import 2dr Tahoe, nice and clean and you know they haven't been played around here in the sands. Just be careful not all of them are 4wd

Only glass can be bought and if you aiming for complete assembly then used and aftermarket is the way to go

@desertdude did you happen to try to Bosch platinum plugs on your XJ. The reason why I am asking is that in that most of the US forums they have mentioned that the 4.0 and bosch platinum plugs dont go together. Some of the comments have been that in the initial period bosch plugs worked ok, but after about 5000 km they started facing rough idle, and also when they checked the spark plugs there was carbon buildup. They recommend to go with the Champion / NGK / OEM Copper Plugs especially the 4.0 With the temperature conditions varying from the US, wanted to get a local perspective.

Get an engine degreaser spray it liberally. Wait for it to do its thing and then rinse off.

Get the Bosch 4 pin platinums. A bit pricey but worth it. You'll feel the difference. I put them in my Land Cruiser and who ever drove it asked if I had done any mods like getting it chipped or headers.

@shadow79 I heard this glass doesn't come separate; you have to buy the whole assembly with glass which is expensive - like around AED 850-900.

That looks like a sweet ride which seems to be pampered quite a bit. The interior and exterior seem to be flawless. I wouldn't have any hesitation getting it if the price was right. As I mentioned earlier in another post my old landlord had the exact same ride and he abused the shit out if it day and night, on and off road but it still drove like a dream no squeaks or rattles. No vibes clunks or Thuds. Even with 450k ish kms on the clock it purred like a kitten and pulled like an ox. I've always like the Tahoe but that really made me a fan. In the desert it prefers big rolling dunes and not a fan of chewed up cross tracks. The suspension is soft to give it that wafting ride on road but makes it pretty bouncy off-road which in turn makes it lose traction of climbing on anything other than a smooth face.

The pickups and full-size SUVs have some of the biggest mirrors. On the new Chevy silverado you even get automatic mirrors which extend outwards incase you are pulling a long trailer

I expect ADNOC to be world class but yes I will re-consider opting to a synthetic one possibly Mobil. ADNOC stations have been convenient places too so I have been using them for my older car but now with my Prado I want to ensure that it lasts well in the off-road stress condition. I was told by my mechanic that oil sold on petrol stations with their own brands is not good for the engine. He showed me some pictures of the engine full of some dirty old leftovers of the oil even though the owner was changing oil every 10000kms. The only thing that it was petrol station oil. I personally can recommend Shell Synthetic oil from one of the authorized sellers. It is known to be good and reasonably priced.

Nooo, I don't want to ruin my paint on the car. I always use proper car wash as I had some bad experience with water less wash for my old car. You might find some very unpleasant scratches!

Hello! I would like to try something american, I didn't have such experience before. I noticed that on quite a lot of american cars side mirrors are so narrow-angled, it is so hard to observe traffic on the road!😮 Is it like that on all american cars or only on some of them?

Find alternate number in platinum plugs and get those and be done for long life plus better stronger spark for optimum combustion to release close to actual ponies what it supposed to have in 97.

To the "sleepers/ silent readers" of the forum who are considering to join but hesitating (because you might feel uncomfortable to join a new club) , the Carnity off-road club is a friendly, not pushing, and what's very important, safety first - community. If you are hesitating, don't worry, just show up, you will not regret that you came. The day started with a safety-briefing. It might be long for some people, but certainly necassary for new joiners. When you start operating a vehicle/ machine or anything that might hurt yourself/ other people/ environment, it is important that there is an understanding of the individual who is participating and also important, that the group has an idea of what kind of person they are dealing with for the first time. A difference in: -nationality, -equipment, -experience + the new environment for a totally new bie, a briefing is the tool to bring all the heads together. I can only encourage such briefings. It might be boring for some and they might loose the interest (especially in the early morning where we are thinking of our soft bed and pillow). Even if the person only remembers a bit what was given during a briefing/ instruction/ a shared story or de-brief, this little bit is still something new he or she has learned. I just wanted to emphasise this part of the day, because I believe that there are people who think that such new-bie briefings are excessive, but keep up the good work marshallers, keep doing it. The drive itself was progressive, good learning curve, opportunities to play a bit. For the newbies there was the opportunity to practice with in seat instruction. Very good to build your confidence. The day ended with a social gathering in the shades to de-brief, share stories and introduce ourself a bit. My apologises that I only had Oreos to share :). I hope to see you soon, but with my work I rarely have a day off on a Friday (I requested this Friday off, just to join you). Let's see when I am lucky with the scheduling department.

It's good to see that you guys had a smooth ride with a good crowd. I was sad that I could not make it. @Rahimdad bhai the thermos was ready for a fill with Karak Chai, the boot was loaded with the compressor, soft shackles and kinetic rope, the hummus was in the fridge and the radio fully charged...the only thing that was set incorrectly was the alarm😒.. While I dreamt of getting stuck on the first dune and pouring tea for my brothers-in-arms (Carnitybros) you guys were already rolling through Maliha. Cannot put into words what it felt like when one is looking forward to sliding on the dunes and waking up with sunlight on the face. Anyways, I will finish the humus and hope to join the next ride.

Sajja and crispy clean parts can never be in one line Mostly are American and Australian imports then the insurance claim cars (GCC) have even seen them putting bearings and rings on engines (repaired stuff) are there that means that place is mostly good for body parts and other outside tid bits... I had brought a crank sensor for focus from there which was not available in company had to return it 5 times . ultimately I towed the car there so I could change it then and there so I avoid coming and going after putting 18 sensors I even lost count of how many sensors I had flipped till I got a working one...

No time for online and he has 3 cars and this is his beloved car when 4 years ago gear went out I told him to scrap it but he was like no no no this is my car... eventually found one for 3.5k with 5 days guarantee and fixed it.it's running good and seems a strong car only regular engine and atf oils break pads plugs other things like suspension has not been worked till now or maybe was done before he became a regular with us..

Have been using adnoc silver 10w40 in most of my customers and my own cars never had an issue If you fancy and can shell out some extra then go for full synthetic 5w40 Lexus oil should run good for 50+ ambiance temperatures....

That means you order the glass in advance so when you break it then you put the new one in or at once buy the whole assembly from used or aftermarket and put it on...

@Shafeek, I wish mechanics wouldn't do what this one did. The fact that oil is black does not mean that it has to be replaced. Oil only needs to be changed when it is due for replacement, or after the engine has overheated, which is when the additives in the oil break down due to the excessive heat, and /or the oil becomes contaminated with engine coolant. If the oil has not reached its replacement mileage, there is no need to replace it. You will find that the new oil in your engine is black after having changed it only a couple of days ago. All engine oil turns black almost immediately after an oil change- this is caused by the oil coming into contact with combustion products, and the old oil that is still in the engine- it happens in all engines, and it does not affect the oil in meaningful ways until you reach the recommended replacement mileage. I am afraid this mechanic had ripped you off. Black oil is normal, and it does not necessarily mean that the engine must be flushed. One more thing, semi-synthetic oil is a blend of synthetic and mineral oil, which means that even though the synthetic component adds some lubricity to the blend, the mineral oil reduces the lubricity of the synthetic component, so you really don't win much with a blend, if you win anything at all. It may be true that these types of blends might sometimes offer better lubrication than pure mineral oil, but for a few Dirhams more, you could have had the full benefit of fully synthetic oil that will last a lot longer than the blend they sold you. Also, never change the oil without the filter, or the filter without the oil- this mechanic gave you some really bad advice about this. Injector cleaner in a 2015 engine? You were ripped off with this too; injectors last almost forever, and all fuels sold today contain additives that help keep injectors clean as you drive anyway. The problem with some types of aftermarket injector cleaner is that they can cause the build-up of deposits on the sparkplug electrodes, thereby reducing engine performance and increasing fuel consumption, so you could actually lose money in the long run. Sorry to say this, but you got a really bad deal this time.
