With the current worldwide situation and pandemic declared by WHO with regards to the Corona (COVID-19) virus, as Carnity Offroad Club we want to take the necessary precautions in order to avoid the risk of spreading the virus. Therefore, from today onwards, we will implement the following basic steps until further notice: Please refrain from joining any offroad drive if you have any symptoms of upper respiratory infection, cough, or fever. Avoid shaking hands and touching faces without washing or using sanitizer. Please refrain from sharing food, snacks, or opened water bottles. No crowding up in groups next to each other at ANY TIME: Not while deflating. Not while stuck/recoveries. Not while inflating or during any breaks. All recoveries will be solely handled by Intermediate and above members, who is managing those drives. We hope we can count on your co-operation and will follow up on the situation closely. To maintain safe distance of 1-2 meters from each other while attending the brief, please follow the below pattern.9 points

I was challenged today that I was tempting fate not hiding myself away in a cupboard until this whole thing is over .. and I am with Rahimdad here (not for the first time!) Fear is a paralysing emotion that is a waste because as he rightly says, you can only do it once. That's not to say do stupid things - but the fact is that this is still a virus that it most dangerous if you are over 70 and have a pre-existing problem. Notwithstanding my recent birthday, I am not yet there. Wash your hands a lot, with hot water and soap. Try to keep give a little more personal space to people than maybe you used to. The world in lockdown is a great political tool to arrest any dissent and complaints - when was the last time you heard about the protests in Hong Kong? There are people dying out there. I do not want to diminsh that for one moment, but there are also people out there dying from road accidents and malaria in higher numbers. International travel appears to be at a standstill. Let's not end up only going to and from work.4 points

@desertdude it was not meant for me. Met Mohammed Bin Sulayem around 3 years back while @Gaurav bhai was with me. I was drooling trying to follow him and get a word in with him, but at one point it seemed he was ignoring em and I got really disheartened. But @Gaurav bhai insisted I stay back and wait for him to get a little free, rightfully so he did turn around and said his Salam to me, I was over the moon. @Gaurav bhai even took a photo of him and me together which he later gifted me. Speaking to Mohd Bin Suleyem I told him I remembered the days when his toughest competition was with Saeed Al Hijro from Qatar with his Rothman's Porshe 911, and he lent over and whispered in my ears that he still has his Toyota Celica in his garage from those days. An unforgettable moment with my best friend ever @Gaurav bhai, that is what life is all about, moments we make into memories in the company of great friends.4 points

That’s very interesting. Im curious about how will it handle desert as Subaru is confident with it’s symmetrical AWB. Wish I could be there in the morning drive to see it. I don’t know if XV has it but X-mode could be a B plan as well.3 points

Bought a brand new car long time ago, and as full comprehensive insurance was mighty expensive and my father kept telling me not to take one, i went for a third party insurance only to have another car flying into the side of the car 6 months later, rendering it as good as total loss. As per the rules the vehicle that hit me was driving on a road where it had right of way, but drove 92km/h instead of the allowed 50km/h, so when i crossed the road it came flying out of the nearby corner, leaving me no time to react. Because it had the right of way, the car could never be held liable, so after 2 years in court i ended coughing up a lot of money and that driver only had to pay a fine for overspeeding. 2 lessons learned: - Do not buy a brand new vehicle - If you do buy a recent vehicle, get FULL comprehensive. - Only the lawyers really win if you go to court....3 points

Hiding in the trees smoking, hoping your grandmother doesn’t see you or you will get beat with a stick. It was even worse when she caught you and sent you out to choose the stick yourself. Good times 😂 @Rahimdad I saw the Rothmans 911 in Stuttgart a few years ago. I have photos of it somewhere. Will try to look for them over the weekend.3 points

It will be prudent to follow some basic steps - I hope the organizers agree on this - please refrain from joining if you have any symptoms of upper respiratory infection, cough or fever and get yourself checked with a Dr - avoid hand shakes and touching faces without washing or using sanitizer I hope this is taken in right spirit. Let us take care of our health and those whom we all care3 points
