  1. DRIVE REPORT Lisaili is and shall remain my favorite desert area, mostly because it can gently caress but it can also fiercefully sting. We met up at 05:00 at the Camel track, where some camels were already doing their tracks. It remains a magnificent thing to see how the camel-riders are able to stay on top and to which speed the camel can be enticed. The first technical area, which is one that can sting quite a bit, was gentle on us and we made it through to reach the long dunes in a matter of 10mins and only one mini-crest that was easily resolved. Everyone did great and listened to my advice of "driving like you are sneaking up to your enemy" We had the most fantastic dunes to play on, but also a lot more vegetation than before, which is quite remarkable. Except for some crests where @Brette was again very helpful in doing recoveries, the whole convoy surfed through the sand very well. At one point @Nizam Deen had a pop-out, but with the help of @Wrangeld it popped back in place in record time. @Yousef Alimadadi you did great with the Pajero, i know these cars are not the easiest ones, but every time you manage so well, keep a cool head and smile, and many times easily recovered yourself with 4Lo and Rear Diff lock. @Nivin and @Janarthan looks like you were both maybe a little bit too gentle on the Xterras today, hence a few crests. Nothing to worry about and all part of the learning process. @J J was excellent as center forward and never struggled. Same as @Rajeevan Vickneswaran @Adam Marston @Magellan who were very silent on the radio, which is good ! Because @tjsingh his Pajero was slightly overheating and he had to open the bonnet every time we had a refusal, i chose to head out towards the dirt track. Even before we reached that dirt track, the engine was overheating even on small flat terrain, so we chose to tow it back to the road over the dirt track, so the engine could cool down. Tj exited at the road but unfortunately had to call the recovery truck as even driving on road was not an option. Hope you can get it sorted buddy. We took the rest of the convoy across the street to top off the drive with some technical terrain and spotting some gazelles. Finally exited at the trees nearby the Hamari well. We covered 56.4 km in 3 hours and 40 mins, of which 2 hours and 40 mins was moving time. All in all a busy day but proud of how everyone did today. See you soon in the sands again ! https://www.relive.cc/view/vPOpNJ9RJEq

  2. TRIP REPORT Faqa is an amazing terrain for Intermediate drives as it offers some nice tall and long dunes that are well spread out. And when you have an eager bunch of Intermediates (and above) you know that its going to be a fun day. Except for @Najeeb Mohammed who overslept (and I appreciate you informing us as well so as to not wait) and @Rinelle Sanaani everyone made it well on time. As we are getting into the second half of the year, the sunrise is getting delayed and that gave us a bit of headsup to enter the desert on some flat tracks under the offroad lights. @Vanessa8580 was my second lead and from the expression on her face she really enjoyed being up the convoy for a change. @Ale Vallecchi was my sweep with @Febin Frederic, @Tbone @Colin Jordan and @Mels Wolf formed the remaining of the convoy. We started in some areas that had a bit of technical dunes which tested the entire convoy resulting in multiple refusals. However, we were quickly able to find our way into the depths of Faqa. And from here the drive became extremely smooth with lots of side slopping, criss crossing and ridge riding. So smooth, that we covered about 71 kms in about a 3.5 hour drive (including stops). That showed the strength of the convoy. @Vanessa8580 did a splendid job in second lead by keeping the right amount gap and pace, with rerouting where required. Its always good to have you on my convoy. @Febin Frederic well driven today considering it was only your second Intermediate drive. Keep practicing your steering control and approach towards the dune for a more smoother criss crossing. @Tbone well driven today. You are a good learner as you listened to the instructions and did exactly the same. @Colin Jordan who brought his Ram and had all the power at his feet. One press of the pedal and off he went leaving @Mels Wolf to reroute to avoid the ditch created by the Ram's wheel. With the Ram, all the dunes were made quite easy and it was good fun seeing the truck ridge riding and crisscrossing on the dunes. @Mels Wolf didnt break a sweat in his 3.5 Pajero. The most underpowered car in the convoy but at no point do you realize that, as you are in completely sync with your ride. This automatically shows with how you builds the momentum and approach the dune in the right manner. And finally a big thanks to @Ale Vallecchi for supporting this drive. For me my mission was that I dont overexert you before your evening drive. And for that, we need to thank the entire convoy for being so fantastic that you were able to relax and coast at the back of the convoy. Thank you everyone for a fun morning. See you next time. .

  4. Nope, it stops at certain intervals (pulse width modulation) to reach the desired pressure. An example: Setpoint is 36 Psi. The moment you connect your tyre it measures the actual (for example 10 psi). Then the system understands it needs to go from 10 to 36 and will use a pre-calculated interval time. The compressor will start running for at least 10-15 seconds non-stop, then it will pause for a second to take the reading, then restart with a shorter stop-start interval until it reaches 36 psi.

  5. Here is a quick peek for tomorrow's drive plan, hope to touch all big peak in Area53/Pyramids. Follow the path in front of you "precisely" to enjoy these tall dunes, slopes and broad ridges. Let's practice some firm steering control at slightly higher pace (than newbies). I'm doing fewbie drive after a long gap so get ready to be pushed little bit. 10 Km straight line = 30 Km while playing all along. P.S. Don't forget your leather pants and metal underwear's.

  9. Every drive is unique! Today's drive started at the Mahafiz tree entrance ,an area where i have been to and believe me there can never be 2 drives ever alike, it is always so unique and different and when you are led by the legend @Gaurav, trust it to be even trickier but always leaves you the lesson for your future drives. The trip started with some straight up and down and a few ridge ridings and some sideys as well. In one of the instance, going uphill actually got @Islam Hassan crested and was quickly recovered by @Gaurav and the best part of it is he attempted it again and made it. We continued our way through the dunes where @Gaurav took us to one nice play area. It was actually my first time try at the play area and it was really nice to have enjoyed it today under the great guidance of @Gaurav. Great driving at the play area to all those who attempted it and did really nice job as well! We then moved on to some challenging sideys and it was really pretty nicely done by most of us. Great practice on the sideys and control of that, thank you @Gaurav! We then drove through the challenging dunes leading to the fossil rock and we made it to the top, enjoyed some nicer breeze (though warm 😉) and some picture time 😊. I was actually impressed with @Kieran McKeown renault duster which was driven and taken to the top by @Gaurav. @Kieran McKeown really kudos for driving that car pretty well. We then proceeded downwards through the same challenging dunes and made our way to the exit point. As i was entrusted with the responsibility of being sweeper today, i hope i have done justice to that position☺️. Well done to everybody for the fantastic smooth drive despite the challenges! Thank you @Gaurav for the yet another amazing drive!

  12. This is perfectly normal @RohanH. There is no compressor in the world that can show an accurate reading while it is inflating. You need to stop the compressor so the pressure can equalize.

  15. Added your name to the drive as an exception, as I heard from Sri that you have given up your tomo newbie drive in anticipation to catch this fewbie drive, that got filled just before your promotion. I'm sure we will have 1 drop out and we will be back on track, then.

  23. Dear @Ale Vallecchi and @Wrangeld thank you for the exceptional management of today’s drive. Ale thank you for your laser focus on ensuring everyone stays safe. There were a few moments where this approach prevented some potential head aches. Richard thank you for your calm and patient demeanor, and constant guidance on encouraging everyone in the convoy to think and problem solve on their own, before you step in to resolve the issue. @Anish S it was incredible to witness your improvements in real time, from the beginning of the drive towards the end of the drive. Since you were in front of me I was closely following your every move, and so I could see how your skills are evolving and you’re becoming more comfortable as the drive went on. Everyone thank you for the great day. It was a lot of fun and very educational. By the way, I posted some pictures in the Gallery. And a couple of videos of the day: Highlights: Recoveries: Happy Eid everyone.
