  1. Firstly I would like to thank Dr @Chaitanya D for letting me support his drive. Secondly the honeymoon thing was started by Dr @Chaitanya D and should be his copyright. I just used it because it was so catchy. The jokes and engagement is what keeps a drive lively. I'm so thankful for a wonderful bunch that takes a joke as a joke. I was so excited for the drive that I woke up before 2 am, got all groomed and ready to go before realizing it was only 2 am. So went back to sleep to wake up at the first beep of the alarm. Having changed and ready at 2 am I just left with the intention of reaching early. It was such a relaxing drive to the meeting point as I was way early and nothing was going to delay me. As I reached the meeting point around the dark end I had to be very careful as there were people and camels all around. As I reached nearer to the camel track the flood lights were on and a lot of UAE nationals nicely dressed in their kanduras. They were all preparing for the camel race which is very popular here during the cooler months. I continued to deflate and set the flag up before I saw the the cars rolling in for the drive. So much excitement that everybody deflated and ready to hard in to what was going to be an amazing morning. After the short brief we were headed on the track to our first challenge in the technical dunes. We saw a couple of hot air balloons rise along with the morning sun to our left. As expected there were a few refusals during the first 15 minutes of entering the small technical dunes, but luckily nothing we could not manage. After a short time in the small technical dunes, we were quickly treated to our first honeymoon area. If anyone has not attended this drive the definition of a honeymoon area are the wide open dunes where we can enjoy doing sideys, criss crossing and everything in between. I am really happy to see Dr @Chaitanya D being very focused on what to do and what to leave out. When in such an area with so many doable options it tends to confuse the lead as to which one to take. But from what I saw Dr @Chaitanya D had done his homework and was never in 2 minds about which ones he was going to do. We had the shortest 90 minutes as we just enjoyed the amazing area and pace as time just melted away. But like nothing lasts forever honeymoon time was over and life took us through another set of small technical dunes. With just a couple of refusals and stucks we kept moving at a nice pace. We also had a pop-out, and thanks to some quick Hans we had the tire popped back in and ready to continue on another honeymoon area. Although this area was not as smooth as our first honeymoon, these were big dunes which we had an additional 30 minutes play time. The exit was not far and we managed to exit, inflate as I saw huge smiles from all to have enjoyed their start to a wonderful weekend. My sincere thanks to Dr @Chaitanya D for allowing me to be a part of his funtastic convoy. @Nivin who was very precise with his second lead. Although not required to reroute so much, but always ready when the need arose. @Nizam Deen for handling his Prado in a very confident style and I see a huge improvement since I last saw him. @jodha singh shekhawat did wonderfully well and did not need much guidance, surely heading towards the Intermediate level. Really sorry for @Gregory Perkin. Hope you ride gets well soon. @marks who is taking up the centre forward position as his own. First to assist and always cool, calm, collected and with a smile. Your attitude shines bright on us even before the sun comes up. @Mehmet Volga surprised me with his Pajero as it screamed its way up on the toughest and softest sand patches. Lovely to see you brimming with confidence in your Pajero and lovely to hear it roar to life. Sorry for confusing you with @Yousef Alimadadi. @Jorge Stepniak Felippe also did a fantastic job as he quietly continued to impress me with his skills. Wonderful to watch him apply the right throttle and steering control to keep the Jeep moving. My thought the tires need to be deflated further, but you still have time to experiment with lower pressure to have lesser stress on your drive terrain and Axles. @Craig Finlayson had the biggest smile as he made his way without giving us a single chance to recover him. Definitely knocking on the doors of intermediate level. Lovely to see you take a stretched limo through this terrain. @Nabil Bishara capable, but shy. Love to see how well you handled the terrain with the exception of some finesse. The timing of leaving and applying the throttle at the right time in small technical dunes saw a hit which took the rear bumper out. Also suggest a leveling kit as the rear of your Jeep looks a bit low. It was nice to catch up with you after the drive, hope to see the more vocal side of you soon. @Salarios we missed you too buddy, hope to catch up with you in the coming weeks. @Foxtrot Oscar was the perfect sweep with loads of enthusiasm and willingness to assist. Also she was the rose among the thorns. She is one tough lady and love to watch her conquer each and every terrain with ease, carrying everybody with her and not leaving a single soul behind. She is also a subtle comedian and keeps the drive alive with her on and off crack of a joke. After over 12 years of being a gypsy lost in the deserts of UAE, I enjoy the company as I did on this very day. I no longer yearn to conquest the sand in which I will be buried one day. I look forward to passing on this art of off-roading and finding new friends who will say a prayer for me when I take my final bow from this worldly life. Thank you all for your friendship and love, the warmth of each prayer touches my heart.

  2. Wow... What an exceptional drive it was today morning. The terrain we tried today was totally different to what I have experienced so far with all other carnity drives. Thank you very much @Ale Vallecchi for a wonderful lead today morning. As drive post reads the exploration is what we did today. I recommend everyone to try this terrain at least once to have a different kind of flavor to their offroad experience. The first part of the drive through abundant vegetation, farms and camels was very smooth. Most of the time we drove on some tracks made by locals maybe to their farms. There were lot of breath taking views along this tracks and I hope everyone enjoyed view as much as I did. After about 2 hours continues drive we stopped around a tree in middle of valley to take a quick photo and drone break. After quick break drove about an hour and reached a tarmac where we were adviced to take down our flags until we crossed the road and reach our next entry point were it was headed to the black mountains. The terrain here was totally different to the first half of the drive. Sand was supper soft until we reach black mountain. There was couple of refusals, almost everyone was able to self recover at all the instances. The only time we had to take out the rope was to recover the big GMC crested on top of a very soft patch of sand. But rope recovery was not successful and finally showeling did the work to get out big GMC out of the crest. @Islam Soliman you are great as second lead today. I think you were precisely did what a lead want to you to do by rerouting and holding the convoy as and when its nessesary. Thank you very much for @asifk and @Wrangeld for your support as CF and sweep position and keeping us safe and moving forward effortlessly. Until next time keep safe!!

  3. TRIP REPORT: Fabulous bunch who enjoyed – the superman style. Thanks to everyone for being on time and getting ready for a “funtastic” day. My report comes after a perfectly etched response from @Rahimdad, and I hope I can keep you interested further to read it. We started along the camel track, finding an easier entry through the technical area. Once in the technical area I expected some cares to find it tough going through here but only few refusals there made me realize that I had a fabulous bunch of drivers who were willing to step up if I pushed them further. We were off the technical area in quick time and onto our “honeymoon”. One has to believe that we drove , and drove we did that the first break we took- hold on ,not a break but a pause to make sure all were enjoying was roughly at about 90 min when we were on a planer small Sabkha. That is where our “honeymoon” discussion sprung up to cheer everyone. We did innumerable ridge riding, crisscrossing and sideys, for you to have a visual feel have a look at the map The noodle like trail shows us that we drove most of the long-range dunes which Lisaili has on offer. Everyone in the convoy drove exceptionally well, and there were hardly any radio coms while doing these. Well done everyone! Once we cleared out longish honeymoon, we were onto another technical area where we had one pop out fixed in quick time. Everyone followed the COVID regulations and precautions during this break which was commendable how responsible you all were. After this brief interruption , we were into another area of “honeymoon” albeit a bit short as we were on time and had to look for an exit sooner considering that we almost drove for close to 4 hours and just as you all know good things always come to an end- a bit too early. How everyone performed has been beautifully described by @Rahimdad, I concur on all. It was indeed a fabulous bunch who took every terrain and challenge thrown at them. @Nivin did exceptionally well as 2nd lead in his xterra, and he was your defacto leader correcting my mistakes . Everyone in the convoy followed his tracks. @Nizam Deen is getting more confident with his amazing prado, your car has the capability for a perfect off road trip. Well done buddy. @jodha singh shekhawat , can say we share the same car (Xterra) and were on same terrain. You had no issues managing even in technical terrains which is great. @marks was my center forward in his FJC and very helpful in recovering cars with tugs, even in trcky technical terrains. You have a great attitude to help which is wonderful. @Mehmet Volga was in the rear half of the convoy with his LWB Pajero, never really struggled . Great to see how you were handling your car on sideys and ridges. Well done . @Jorge Stepniak Felippe with his SWB wrangler manual is showing great progress and knocking to get into the next level. I personally adore your open top SWB car which is a dreamcar to have in this weather. @Craig Finlayson in his LWB wrangler was again driving so well, hardly heard asking for any help/assistance. Great to have you in my convoy buddy. @Nabil Bishara in his SWB wrangler drove well, managing all the challenges aplomb. Being towards the end of the convoy is always a challenge as you have to adjust your tracks to avoid using the churned up sand ahead, but you did well mate. @Foxtrot Oscar was my sweep in her Xterra, always keeping the whole bunch lively with her humor and encouragement. As a lead , it takes off your burden and also makes you feel you have someone capable to handle issues if any at the back. Well done! @Rahimdad was my flying sweep, a late addition to the drive and what a blessing to have. His presence at the back really gave me the confidence to push myself and everyone in this area where some patches are extremely technical, and baby dunes which look like a baby but for sure will suck your car like quick sand. I was able to avoid most of them, but Rahimbhais presence made me do it with ease. Thank you Superman! Some Stats from the drive: Ave. Moving Speed - 21.2 kmph Max Speed - 50 Kmph Moving time 2hr 49 min Total time 3 hr 53 min Distance - 59.6 Km If you have the required number of drives and the recovery gear , please apply for your promotion to next level. We have a long weekend lined up next week and be ready on Sunday to grab your spots. Please plan well to avoid double RSVP and late dropouts. We are putting efforts together to make sure max people get onto drives in a fair way. Enjoy your week, be ready for another adventurous weekend!

  4. I was one in my LR Discovery 1 the 1998 model @Lorenzo Candelpergher and leading a drive from Lisali to Margham. Closer to Margham I got trapped in very soft sand patch where my car jyst sank so badly that I could not even open my doors on a flat piece of land. The one thing I have learned and applied is not to panic and listen to instruction and follow them from a senior off-roader. To my luck I had @desertdude who had a similar vehicle and knew all the ins and outs of this machine. So the first thing was to go into neutral, 4 low and apply the central difflock. Next I had to go into first gear without pressing gas. Just try hard and turn the steering full left and full right as quickly as I could. Gradually I had to give race between 1200-1500 rpm and keep it around that. As I kept doing it I started moving to my surprise, slowly but surely as my Discovery swam in the deep soft sand patch. Out of excitement I tried applying more gas which resulted ins and flying. @desertdude stopped me and told me not to increase the gas till I felt some solid ground with some good traction. So started all over again and surely my Discovery started sailing again. This was a tiring exercise which continued for little over 15 minutes, but finally I felt the firm ground as I increased the throttle and got myself out of the patch. So yes for self recoveries the best chance you can give yourself is by sand crawling, but at times you can do with a tug.

  5. Thank you everyone! I have been liking driving and exploring be it on tarmac or off it since I got my license . Off roading and desert driving with Carnity, its Marshals , Experts and all supporting senior members has been a memorable experience not to forget all the drivers who join every week to explore the desert. I am looking forward to more enjoyable, exciting , thrilling, exploring and above all safer drives with you all! Cheers!

  6. Yes, superb trail @Chaitanya D! Two weeks in a row I’ve had the benefit of being in your convoy. Yesterday was great fun. As always, it’s great to hear the jokes and helpful advice across the radio from @Rahimdad. As for Fhoxtrot Oscar (@Foxtrot Oscar) - thanks for managing us well at the back.....I’m sure your team could’ve done with some of that over the last week! 😉 looking forward to catching up again soon. Have a good weekend.

  7. Hi all, Thank u @Chaitanya D for a smooth and superb drive. I was a bit late to reach the meeting point and thought would miss the drive, but fortunately had the contract number of @Mukundan Nair and managed to b at the spot at the last minute. Thank you @Ajiesh George Kannankarafor the help in deflation. From the start the drive was superb with some small dunes and later with some technical terrains and at last with some exciting sideys. Enjoyed the drive from start to the end. It was a drive with minimum refusals and stucks and @Desert Dweller and @Anish S cud manage them well. Once again thank you @Chaitanya D for a wonderful and memorable drive and hope to catch up in some upcoming events. Kudos guys , keep cool 👍👏👏

  8. Dear @Gaurav, dear @Rahimdad, I have recently witnessed a very experienced driver performing a proper sand crawling with a Nissan Patrol Y62 (just like mine), which doesn't come equipped with any crawl control programme, unlike Toyotas. The results were quite impressive and I got curious. I understand sand crawling is done in 4LO and it requires a swift combined action of gentle alternated throttling / breaking along with left/right steering. Is it right? Can you enlighten me how to do it?

  9. First time at this desert. Amazing terrain and drive. The pace and mixture of terrain was just right for me. My son and I had a great time. Great weather is truly round the corner. Thanks to everyone especially to @Chaitanya D @Desert Dweller I had a small issue at the end when the hose for my compressor came off after I have inflated 2 tyres. Thanks to @Shaaz Sha for his great help. Much appreciated.

  10. @Mohamed Seidam. Each situation means we need to adapt to it. The technique if you have difflock does not require breaks as all wheels get locked with same power. However I really like your question because it brings in the other aspect when you don't have difflock. In case your car is not equipped with difflock, you can apply the hand brake if your rear tire is free to give more power to front tires. Or apply brakes if your front tires are free. In this scenario try to have short tries and do not over cook your brakes. Shovel is still the best tool to free a tire which is hurried in sand.

  12. @Abu Muhammad I always revise the tape post drive , then you realize details that was overlooked when you are relaxed at home . I believe this is the best way to learn , in other words I always get my home work done before the next drive . And as a community I like to share it so others can learn too . In my opinion the theory supported by real Audiovisual Pre and especially post drive is essential if not crucial . i hope you got your steering power issue sorted out eventually . cheers 🚙👍🙏🏻

  13. Thank you @Mohamed Seidam for your efforts, it’s nice to look at these clips and remind ourselves of the mistakes and learn. Always safety is first specially when it comes to Tugging and you’ll definitely find that with Carnity and Mr @Lorenzo Candelpergher.

A wonderful drive with some technical areas and extended honeymoon periods (copyright @Rahimdad ) Thank you @Chaitanya D for all your efforts in planning the drive and leading us all through this wonderful desert. thanks also to the rest of the convoy for the camaraderie and excellent driving . Except for @Craig Finlayson he’s the wrong kind of Scottish 😛😅 ( FYI we support rival football teams that make up one of the most notorious derbies in world football, ) some pics are in the gallery

  24. Dear @Lorenzo Candelpergher& @Franco Swart Thank you so much for your help and advise in a calm, friendly and professional manners Appreciated very much. Also thanks to @Brette and @Janarthan and everybody else for fun drive and great teamwork whenever needed. After researching about the mechanical problem that I had today it looks like I’m going to need a new steering rack as it’s apparently a common problem for Tundra and Sequoia 2010-2014 models but for sure I will find out after visiting the workshop.

  32. yheart.you are absolutely spot on @Lorenzo Candelpergher. But we do not encourage sand crawling, only as part of recovery. As prolonged use of 4 low takes a toll on your engine and transmission. I have first hand experienced @Asif Hussain recovering @Shamil Xterra when it lost all its power. @Asif Hussain to our surprise was able to crawl up and out of a few dunes with the limited power the Xterra had to offer. What a wonderful sight it was in area 53.

  34. Dear @Emmanuel, Sorry for this late information. i just noticed my radiator collant is spreading inside my engine. Needs to check to be sure and avoid delaying the convoy. Please cancel my RSVP and maybe give it to somebody in the waiting list. My apologies.

  35. Dear @Emmanuel, Unfortunately it seems that my attendance this afternoon may be at risk due to an unforseen medical emergency. Nothing serious, but a friend needs help with his kids while he's being hospitalised for kidney stones. If there is anyone on a waitlist for the drive, then I'll drop out in his/her favor. If not, then I'll be able to eventually confirm my attendance only around 1 or 2pm, even though I see it quite unlikely that I may be able to join. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  39. Convoy 1 Drive It was indeed with great enthusiasm that I was looking forward to this drive. And this drive indeed made my Friday morning☺️🌞! As it is, the Qudra region never disappoints in terms of its extremely soft sand, even though I thought that the chilly weather would maybe mean forgiving sand... Helas not really😬. So we drove along the soft sand quite enjoyably and as we go on our lead @Brette takes us through testing areas with the techincalities here and there..some of which we passed with flying colors, others were stucks and refusals with great learning outcomes. Overall it was excellent drive! Thank you @Brette☺️. Special thanks also goes to @Janarthan, @Lorenzo Candelpergher and @Anish S for supporting the drive...cheers to the amazing team spirit👍 Great job by rest of the convoy... nicely done👍

  40. Dear @Brette, dear @Ashy, today's drive in Al Qudra was as complicated, with several stucks and refusals and even a mechanical failure, as it was enjoyable due the very mild temperatures. We did spend quite some time waiting for recoveries (some of which non trivial ones) to be successfully concluded, but it was nevertheless a very nice drive, especially in the 2nd half when we reached a more technical area along with higher dunes. @Janarthan was all over the place helping everyone with great enthousiasm and energy. While others may have waited a bit, he had a very busy morning 😂😂. Well done! The whole convoy must be congratulated as everyone was well disciplined, patiently waiting long minutes during multiple recoveries and showing a good spirit of cooperation, great passion and teamwork when heavy shoveling was required and some reasoning was needed to identify the best recovery strategy . As @Luca Palanca Falsini noticed, @Abu Muhammad's gigantic Toyota Sequoia made my Nissan Patrol look like a toy car in comparison 😂😂.. loosing the power steering on such a beast was definitely a challenge: kudos to @Abu Muhammad therefore, who managed very well on his way out after the mechanical failure. From the back of the convoy I could watch the last few cars, who did all very well, despite the soft and sometimes churned up sand. @Franco Swart, @Rajeevan Vickneswaran, @Luca Palanca Falsiniand @Hennie Schoeman all drove very smoothly with very few difficulties, making good learning of the experiences by those in the first half of the convoy. Drive details below: See you soon in the sand!

  41. What a day! Starting with difficulty to find the route to the dunes although we were able to see them from distance.. our route took us through two nice horse farms, multiple camel farms, and paid a visit to a family who wasn’t obviously happy with 11 cars barging into their little farm. area was kind of surrounded by fences so took us sometime through very tight tech area full of vegetation until we finally managed to get the open dunes and enjoyed nice sidies and @Gaurav took some shots for the convoy. I also hit the jackpot today with a record 3 stucks two of which in very nasty tight pockets not fit for the black beast so enjoyed learning new recovery techniques thanks to @Gaurav, @Tbone, and @anand. through our way out trying to extend hands to the other convoy who had a major failure in one of the cars.. countless number of refusals and stucks took place and by the time we were out @Brette’s convoy managed to safely recover it and hit the tarmac. lots of learning and unexpected challenges .. all good to build up a more resilient offroading skills. thanks @Tbone and @Gaurav for leading .. @anand and @luwaimn for supporting the convoy

  44. DRIVE REPORT A beautiful active morning 😆 An Absolute Newbie drive always comes with its surprises, but is all worth it because of the smiles of the new members at the end of the drive. This morning was a bit eventful and these things happen sometimes. The desert comes with its own surprises. The first surprise was when @Javid Ahamed his Ford Explorer had a first hiccup/stuck a few dunes inside. After looking for the 4x4 buttons we finally had to pull the car back out as we realized it was a 2-Wheel drive car. A little while later, @Antonio Rivera his beautiful black Wrangler starting smoking and going from the smell it could only be the clutch that got fried. We tried waiting a bit, and even tried to drive a little portion in low gear, but eventually the only option was to pull it out back to the road and get the recovery truck. @Federico Galbieri did fantastic as my second lead, listening perfectly to my instructions over the radio and re-routing where needed. Well done ! @Dr Tariq Mahmood with the White Prado was gliding effortlessly through the dunes. Very impressive ! @frederic demolder the Landrover Discovery Sport is a very capable offroader, but does not have a good approach angle and clearance For Newbie level drives you will be fine, You drove really well today and was not afraid of shoveling. Super attitude ! @Jonathan Maumy with the beautiful Black Montero Sport you did amazing too and will probably get addicted soon @Federico De Chirico that Fortuner was a beast that woke up as soon as we deflated it a bit more. Well driven buddy ! @Vinojps with the nice red Wrangler drove effortlessly today. Nice work !! @Rob Harper and @Jack Thomas two superdudes who both drove amazing ! @Sandi88 you have driven before in the desert and it shows, but please understand that safety is our prime focus and leaving the convoy and going for a play is not acceptable. @Vishnu Sasidharan the same applies, where Vanessa has clearly told you to stay within the convoy you again ignored her instructions. This is not OK guys. We need to make sure all our drivers who are under our wing are safe and are not getting themselves into trouble. Unfortunately the COVID regulations were also not followed by some drivers/passengers , as we requested to everyone to wear a mask in case you need to exit the car. Please do take note that is this occurs for the next drive we will ban members who keep thinking they are above the law. Only by following the government rules we will be able to continue these drives. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. Please have a look at below topic which describes the tools needed for every level. There is a separate tutorial inside which explains which radio we recommend and how to program them: (Please do not buy the Baofeng 888S spare radio we gave you, as these cannot be programmed without a special cable and software). Please have a look at below grading structure that explains various off-road levels: See you guys soon in the sand again ! @Antonio Rivera i hope your car is ok and recovery was able to help you. I will send you a text to handover the radio one of these days, no worries.
