Absolutely loved every bit of it Drives with Carnity are always planned at different levels and for a newbie level drive even if I or we have one car who needs time to learn everyone else irrespective of their levels have to come down to that particular members level for the whole bunch to get in and out safely with some good learning/adventure. I was very much impressed when I bumped up the level a bit after everyone made it to the pink rock with ease , and we headed towards Big red/Badayer when the drive became more interesting 😜. Trip Report Convoy 2. On my way to the meeting point I kept thinking if attempting this area with 4 drivers who would be doing their first newbie drive was in fact a good idea or if I was trying to be over ambitious. I had also worked out an alternate route incase it turned out to be too much for the newbies but wanted to give it a shot and I also knew I had an excellent support team in @Desert Dweller and @Luca Palanca Falsini. On reaching the meeting point @Luca Palanca Falsini was already there deflated and ready to go while the rest of the convoy arrived. Everyone was done deflating and ready to head out by around 6:15 so after a quick briefing and getting the convoy into position we headed off towards Fossil Rock. The entire convoy drove pretty well and we were closing in on Fossil Rock in less than an hour. With summer around the corner and knowing fully well that the sand is going to keep getting soft and sticky of the next few months, I decided to give everyone a taste of what it would feel like to get into these sticky patches so rerouted and went towards the really soft patch just before fossil rock. Here is where we had our first few refusals and 1 stuck that was handled and sorted out very well by Luca and Jamy. Moving on we did not attempt to climb Fossil Rock but headed straight towards Camel Rock where we bumped into Freddy and Richard with Convoy 1 and then headed towards Faya. I think everyone enjoyed this area as we kept a good pace and covered almost half the distance without any refusals or stucks. Seeing we had a lot of time still on our hands, I deviated west into a bit of the technical area. Here we again had a few refusals, a stuck and @Nafly Azhar had a pop out too that was fixed in under 15 minutes and then we made our way again towards Faya. The final stretch to Faya is all about keeping the momentum around the bowls. I went all the way to the top, @Luca Palanca Falsini positioned himself halfway through while @Desert Dweller stayed down with the convoy while everyone made their attempt. A few refusals later we were at the top taking in the beautiful view before heading down. Once down those who had a few drives under their belt got to make an attempt at making small climbs while the rest watched. After everyone had their fill we headed out to the inflation point. @Chris Wing thanks for being an excellent second lead and congrats on your promotion to fewbie. @Nafly Azhar , @Christopher Assal @Lucas Neo and @Wadepat2 you all did very well considering this was your first newbie drive. Don't worry about the refusals and stucks, it is all part of the learning process and in time you will get better at it. @Pmaraziti , @Chinthaka Ruwan and @Rjducos well done, you guys had absolutely no problems at the back. @Desert Dweller and @Luca Palanca Falsini Thank you both for being an excellent support team and look forward to supporting you'll on drives soon. Derive Report. Thank you everyone for being on time and come with full energy and passion. We started with short interaction and convey numbering and we hit the Bab al shams desert by 6:15min. This was my first fulltime leading drive and you all made this drive amazing to me. @Rawad Bahsas, You played a very important role as a second lead, you were calm and drove very well with your big Patrol car. you followed me perfectly in technical area and kept safe distance in long dunes. Well done. @JeromeFJ, You drove very well with you FJ-Cruiser and nicely followed the second lead paths. Well done… @Nithin Vaidir, you did a great job with your Landcruiser and you greatly got the technical advice from @Chaitanya Dregarding fishtailing challenges. First of all, Thanks to @Chaitanya D for hosting such a fabulous drive. You were an amazing lead as always; slowly bumping up the difficulty of the drive as we drove through the dunes made the drive a lot more fun and thrilling. @Danish Mohammad, You were a great 2nd Lead. You were able to reroute perfectly where required, and thanks for being a really active helping hand. @Ahmed Mostafa It wont be long till you are a master of self-recoveries, especially when being guided by highly experienced Marshalls. You have great control over your car and it will only get better with experience. @Miguel Codes@Morshedi@Ehab All of you had at least a Stage-1 wrangler, combined with your driving skills, no surprise that you guys managed to handle every challenge so well and kept moving throughout the drive. @Morshedi You faced slight traction issues but as I told you, It was probably because of higher tire pressure, we run the same tires, I keep mine at 8 Psi at the rear and 9 Psi at the front which allows my Jeep to glide through sand. I suggest keeping your tire pressure at around 10 Psi next time, trust me it will be magical. @Niekku@Pmaraziti@Ahmad Shaker@JeromeFJ@Abdul Rahman Abdul Kader Fantastic driving at the back, considering you all were able to keep up with the convoy without much hassle. @Alexander Alcala@Foxtrot Oscar Thanks for sweeping the convoy and keeping everything in order, Great job.

You managed well with your on road tyres, wondering what your beast can do with off road tyres. You were quick in announcing the refusals, good self recovery. @Chris Wing it was pleasure driving behind your FJ and you managed your first fewbie drive beautifully without any refusal. @luis mantecon, @Humayun Ghias, @stavros papachristos all managed well. Over all very few refusals and mostly self recovered, we managed to cover good distance at fast pace, enjoyed sides, crisscross and ridge riding. Nice choice of terrain, thanks @Anish S. Managed to see many wild life in action adding beauty to the morning desert, looking for next drive asap.

Enjoyed the drive thoroughly- the pace , distance and the terrains you took us through from South Qudra was fantastic. Once their skill level was properly known, the pace was picked up. I didn't know small dune ridges could be so much fun. So good to practice on. Since all of you guys appeared to be relatively confident, we were able to scale up the level and the pace and throw some challenges that we usually avoid during Absolute newbie drives. We covered more than 40 km. It's been fun! A big thank to @Nivin for his support as second lead and to @Gaurav for his sweep and his advices. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7:10 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. If you miss a spot, put your name on the waitlist asap. Generally, by Thursday with dropouts everyone does get a spot if they have waitlisted. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. it was an interesting experience driving all with pajeros. The cars were happy in being with friends. we had very experienced fewbies and two of the best newbies in the convoy so @Vanessa8580 comfortably pushed the level up around fewbie without concern. everyone responded well. thanks @Vanessa8580 @Anish S @Tamas Hoffmann for smooth leading and support. Tamas did a good start his partial leading practices thanks @Lakshmi Narasimhan @Gregory @Warren Flay @andy_macdxb for your excellent performances again. see you on the next!

Vanessa, thank you for leading, Tomas and Muhammad, thank you for your support. A lovely drive, definitely a new sub Carnity category, f'newbie. Not too many stucks or refusals, so things all moved nicely along. Following on from the briefing chat, I drove half in H and half in Hlc, didn't notice too much difference, but I think Hlc just edged it as far vehicle responsiveness was concerned, although, the sand did change quite a bit from start to finish. Thanks again to all, and great to meet some new faces. 👍

Hi All Just wanted to share after around 2 month or so of contemplation and assessing multiple options - Sonata, Accord, Lexus IS, GS, Merc CLA 250, BMW X2, a bit contrary to advice 😉 have just booked a Volvo S90... Got a decent deal on 2019 T5, momentum model around 30k done and with 2.5 year warranty and service contract .. so decided to close on it. Had rented a few cars - Sonata, Accord, S90, none other was able to provide the comparable ride experience . Merc CLA was too small to even be comfortable for kids, X2 lacked the features was just about BMW tag and Lexus with 2ltr engine was not even half as fun as my previous 3ltr The luxurious space and the features in S90 were just too much to let go (will miss the sunroof but then perhaps would be good to go naked with my Jeep soon 😀)... None of the others were offering anywhere close to it in this budget. Thanks for your support and advice. Just that sometime heart speaks louder than brain. Keeping fingers crossed...good part is they have possibility to extend service contract at 3k for 2 years after expiry of same. @sertac @Rahimdad@Gaurav @Frederic

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 10:30 AM P.S. If you have increased the width of the rim, that might be one of the main reason for increased popouts. For the moment, you will need to play with the pressure and as Chaitanya mentioned avoid sharp turns

Hi Convoy 1! Thanks @Fredericand great report. So sorry again to the rest of the convoy for the detour as it is becoming very apparent that having a manual Wrangler comes with it's own set of unique issues. On climbing Fossil Rock I made the error of shifting into 2nd at around 5k rpm whereupon it started to lose momentum fast. Then came the refusal and I tried to get out of it but the clutch was protesting... Anyway, second attempt (and a good runway) gave me good momentum in first gear halfway up Fossil Rock when the car stuttered (almost as if the TC intervened) and the check engine light illuminated. I felt as if I had 50% of power as the car went into limp mode. That's when @Wrangeld thought it best to exit as it would not be possible to carry the bowls and other climbs in a reduced capacity. It was definitely the right call and I would not be able to commit to each challenge. Back on E102 the car was fine and happily cruising at 100kph but I still dont have full torque. Am keeping it under observation over the weekend and will get the ECU reset next week if the check engine light is still illuminated. Always had a love affair with a manual Wrangler but our relationship is in urgent need of marriage counselling.... 😊

A question, is your new rim width the same as the stock one? If the width is more that could be a reason for more frequent pop outs? Generally pop outs are quite rare in BFG due to their thick side walls. I would recommend trying to analyse under what circumstances are you having a popout, crisscrossing aggressively, fighting gravity, sharp turns or hitting bumps more frequently. If you get your tyre cleaned that should be fine. Rebalancing is not needed everytime unless you have lost the weights

Drive Report Convoy 1 It was one of those mornings, while deflating in the shadow of the mighty Fossil Rock, that I was realizing how beautiful this terrain is and that I keep coming back with a smile in this area. It had been a while and thanks to Brette’s popularity he was able to organize a second convoy and it was a pleasure for me to lead. We started off with approaching some of the play areas that lie West from the pylon track. This meant we had to go against the slipfaces to reach the area but it was also a little test for me to see how to convoy reacted and how we could scale the drive today. To my surprise all acquitted themselves brilliantly and this meant we scaled it up a notch at some times. Apart from a few refusals which were easily dealt with all went super smooth. As we reached the base of Fossil Rock, @TT_Dubai his Wrangler was showing the check engine light and was suffering from a smelly clutch. Unfortunately that meant exiting Tim on the pylon track and saying goodbye. I hope your car gets fixed soon buddy. From the pylon tracks we headed back in and took a nice photo of the convoy at Camel Rock. It was there that we saw Brette’s convoy approaching as well and after waving them goodbye we set off again onwards to new adventures. We made our way to Faya and were able to play in the bowls on the backside of Faya which demand constant momentum and lies close to Fewbie level. Again the whole team did amazing ! Once we reached Faya we took the side route and climbed the mountain. @Senthil Kumar his Wrangler started to overheat so we had to take a break and let it cool down before continuing. We spent the last 25 mins in the smaller bowls next to Faya and made our way to the inflation point. @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil you were a great second lead today ! @Fabiano Morais you drove great as well today and I’m glad you found the tiptronic as your best help when climbing Faya. @ARAGON your yellow Jeep was easy to spot and took on the terrain and challenges effortlessly. Great work! @Senthil Kumar you also did great today. As Richard mentioned, Jeeps have a tendency of overheating a bit and the additional transmission cooler fan will probably be recommended. The American muscle boys @Russ and @Darren Brooke showed us what massive torque combined with excellent driving skills can do. Great to have you guys ! With @Wrangeldin the sweep I knew i could rely on his experience to keep the convoy moving, and sort out the very few minor issues we faced today. Thank you my friend ! I apologise for my party trick, you have to be pretty good to get two pop-outs at the same time. Next time, I'll try for two pop-outs and an engine fire at the same time lolol.
