Two words: Stay Away. LR + 12 years old + 220K = Money pit. If you really like LR4 feel, go with the newer model or one with 100K mileage so you can enjoy it for 2-3 years with bare minimum maintenance (hopefully). Land Rover is well known to be expensive to maintain after 150K - 200K mileage. And its parts are equally expensive even if you opt for OEM parts from Sharjah dealers like NAPCO and Gulf Stars. If your budget is limited then I would highly recommend Japanese or US brands that stay far reliable and dependable even after 200K kms.

LR4 early models only offered v8 5.0, if it's v6 then it's a LR3 face lifted to LR4's look. 15 to 18 will be ideal cost for a LR3 v6. Sell JGC and get a Prado LC150 for onroad and offroad 😁😁

I absolutely loved the LR4, the drive and ride qualities are simply superb, not to mention road presence. owned one - 2015 model and was so much in love with it that I swapped it for LR Discovery in 2019 which i eventually swapped it for Jeep 😎 Even with all the warranties and maintenance contracts, LR is pricy - i can't imagine owning one without them. and if you are planning it to be also your ride to the deserts you will be disappointed after newbie level - LR4 is not for the sand (the reason I have a Jeep now!)

Dear Dune Surfers, The Drive name says it all , the idea of this drive is to practice the skill and enjoy the thrill of riding on the Sand Ridges. This drive is Part 1 of 3 Skill Drive Series which will be posted in subsequent weeks depending on the Off road Plan with Carnity to balance all leads and drives to get as best possible a balance of variety in terms of challenges, drives, leads, terrains and areas. Part 1 - Ridge Rider Republic – Al Qudra – 21 May 2022 Part 2 - Criss Cross Country – Faqa ??– TBA Part 3 - Technical Terrain Transit - Will be posted in coming weeks All three are for Fewbie Plus and above only as we believe at this level you are well aware of your car, your driving style in sync with your car for these drives to learn, challenge and improve albeit safely. Please watch out for the subsequent parts in coming weeks and join in as per your availability. As the names suggest, we would be focusing on the Different skills for Dune surfing over the next few weeks. For Part 1 we will be driving in the long range dunes as much as possible. We will be taking the longer route from Qudra towards Lisaili which means we will be driving through area near Solar park and some technical patches to traverse between long range dunes hitting every ridge in safest way possible. Drive Time is expected to be 3 hours . We will be moving in parallel to the Dirt Track connecting Qudra to Lisaili in case of any early exits. We will specifically hit the areas in these terrains which will offer us maximum dunes for doing the drive purpose. Make sure you come with a full tank, Car in good conditions, recovery gear for this level (Radio, Flag, Deflator, Compressor, Kinetic rope and Soft shackles). Recovery points should be checked and in good conditions. It is preferable for the cars to have a front bash plate (6mm or more) to keep the radiator protected, if not it is at your own risk to join. Hi Group Members, I do have a negative mindset with regard to buying LR 4 (2010) based on what I have read here and when googled on it’s realibility. Last week I saw and drove a LR4 2010 6 cyl with 220000 kms. The car is fully maintained at agency and is being sold by second owner of 3 years. I liked the car. The stearing looked little heavy when compared to my current Jeep GC overland 2011 but overall I kind of liked the looks and the drive. Tomorrow I am taking the car for a auto testing center for a full physical and computerized checkup and will make a final call. I will be happy if I can use this car for 3 to 5 years without major expense. Will be not be using this for off road as I want to make my existing JGC as main off road car (This discussion for another time). Two issues that has come to light with LR4 as disclosed by the seller is (he discovered during recent inspections) is that the front bonnet is repainted by first owner (no record of it) and steering oil leak. Assuming that no major issues are discovered in tomorrow’s test, what will be your advise based on your experience? I am happy with the price (approx 27K). May negotiate it further. The seller has brought down the price during last one week from high 30s. I have so far not negotiated the price My main concern is not to get cheated or get a car which has some major flaw or has some major reliability issue. Thank you in advance. One more thing I am interested is to know if some of you have a good/Positive experience with LR4?

Hi @Brette, Looking forward for the drive this coming weekend! I had previous off-road driving experience in UAE from off-road drives with private groups. I joined Carnity on the recommendation of @Tom B and have since loved the community driving experience. Having completed two drives already as a newbie (+ the absolute newbie drive), which I really enjoyed, I have gained a good understanding of the convoy group working as well as Carnity's policies. I completed a drive with @Islam Soliman and @Looper, who made a comment about my drive. Last weekend I went on a drive with @Tom B and @Rob S. I am pretty sure they can vouch that I kept up with them 😁. Check the attached photos for the technical area part and the overall ride. Last Monday I applied for off-road promotion (Fewbie Level). Are you able to look into that request? I was never in a rush to move rapidly in the ranks, but having went out on few drives already, I believe I will learn more in the Fewbie level. Cheers, Sam

Also check for any hidden cracks in the rubber boot connector to the intake manifold . Check if it’s squeezable or not I mean if feels hard occult crack can be there which even after cleaning still will bring dust and sand in causing same symptom. ( personal experience)
