@Frederic thank you so much for allowing me to lead this wonderful expedition through some tricky terrain, we made it to the watch tower and very close to our planned exit point. During this time we had two stucks and a couple of refusals, which given the terrain was exceptionally good. This was of course due to the super skill shown by all of the drivers in the convoy, well done to you all @Patrick @Ahmed Wagdy @Misha Puskar @Stan @Frans M @Zubair and @premindra rajaram. You guys drove the wheels off you vehicles and made the drive, covering a super pleasurable 41 km with great company, thank you all. Thanks @Mehmet Volga for joining the convoy and being our CF you did an amazing job appreciate all the help and support. @premindra rajaram you were amazing at sweep given it was your first one so well done my friend and you can sweep my convoy any time. have a great rest of your weekend thanks Davie some stats for those that like to see what we did and where we went

Thanks for the drive today Varun! Was a challenging first F+ for me, few learnings for me! Bring an air hose 😂 thanks @Bjoern for the loan! Saved my life as did @benjimenwhem I went a bit of track, but mostly I have some self learning to not get frustrated it just makes it worse as was evident towards the end 🫣 thanks again and see you all on the next one

Thanks @Varun Mehndiratta for the drive. it was amazing smooth and allowed us to stress our vehicles engines. I broke my flag in the first 60 min 🙃 i even didnt saw it when it fell down. thanks @Mark B for getting it and lending me the suction flag mount which helps to continue the drive safely. @Ishak u did well as a second lead, @Bashar Beasha was driving flawless in the dunes with his supper safari. I believe large engines created for such terrains. Adjusting the convoy order allowed us to move even faster, thx again Varun for ur precise notice and judgments. we learned today many techniques and we were following our marshal with no hesitation at all. @Krishna R was doing great in sweep postion... the closure in Iftar Bowel was brilliant 👏 👏 long story short, all did amazing and the drive was super enjoyable short video can be found in the bellow link: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS8TDL4hS/ looking forward to drive with u all again. For the amount of cars we had and the softness of the sand this went extremely smooth today. Thank you @Varun Mehndirattaonce again for guiding us through. You looked very comfortable sitting at the top of the dunes talking us through! My passenger today thought you were a motivational speaker the way you encouraged the group! @Mark B I do hope that the water you saw was just a few drops from the reservoir and no further issues. @Mark B I think you got the wrong Benjamin haha no worries though. No need to get frustrated when losing track or unsure of how you should approach your next dune, every off-roader in our pack are there for each other. So if your unsure or not confident ask we have all been in the same situation before! Besides that you drove great for your first FB+! Thanks @Varun Mehndiratta great drive as per usual, it was nice to be in a role where I could practice some navigational skills and supporting ones! Everyone drove great and its still surprising to think we managed to get from start to finish without barely any massive stuck’s or refusals. I was really looking forward to using my shovel 🙃

My first two FB+ drives with @Varun Mehndiratta and I learned a lot from those two drives. You managed to keep the drive challenging/interesting, yet comfortable enough for us to use and improve our skills. Fantastic drive with an excellent convoy.

Again, it was a fantastic drive today morning. @Varun Mehndiratta i like your track selection and agree with @Patrick van der Loo about your leadership we made 47km and driving time was 1:45 hour. The whole convoy was amazing today and special respect to @Ishak and his performance today. Have a great weekend .

Hey all, It was a really nice route this morning and I enjoyed the pace we were having - just interrupted by some other desert experts . I couldn't say good bye to you because my help was needed in the desert and I headed back for the driving directors cut! So please accept this as my formal good bye and see you next week! I enjoyed the group dynamic very much today and I like to meet familiar faces every week! Thank you for the good teamwork! And special thanks to the our leader @Varun Mehndiratta in his shiny half-door Rubicon! Have a nice weekend!

Day 6: Al Ula - Wadi Deesah (263 Km.) After waking up in The Tent with a View, we headed further North-West, toward Tabuk province, with the goal of reaching a fabulous wadi, located just past the small village of Al Deesah. The two-lane road climbs a plateau, on very uneven surface. From its top, as the road descends, a dramatic scenery unveils one turn at the time: successive mountain ridges outlined against the light, fronted by a wide wadi dotted with savannah-like vegetation, and a thin, low lying, layer of dust, lifted by the blowing winds. A stunning, wild view, of a prehistoric, scorched land awaits us at the bottom of the plateau. At the bottom, we follow wide riverbeds, cross a few patches of sand, and finally reach the last of the canyons, before its ending just at the beginning of a narrow opening, from which palms trees and flowered bushes loom colorfully. That's where the tarmac turns into gravelly sand, and the track dives deep into the canyon, with walls getting closer and closer. It's a scene from Jurassic Park, or Indiana Jones, with the scenery that changes at every turn of the road, alternating palm groves with reed fields and pink oleanders. The surface of the track goes from wet gravel to soft dry sand patches, to water filled pools and narrow lanes. The wall of the canyon, orange red in the sunset light, open up just before closing in again, at some points forcing the car into narrow tunnels, almost completely covered overhead by protruding rocks. While one could expect a small dinosaur to pop out of the papyrus at any moment, we only manage to encounter the occasional goat herd. At the end of the Wadi, the road opens up into a much wider riverbed, quite rocky and devoid of vegetation. At this point we turn around, trace our tracks back to the village of Deesah through the magic tunnel, that manages to show yet another version of itself, thanks to the light striking from the opposite angle as before, thus changing all the previously soft hues into sharp contrasts. As the clouds started to fill the sky again, and raindrops started to fall, we decided not to camp, and found refuge in a local farmhouse, where locals usually rent 2 spacious rooms to stranded (or lazy) travelers. With that, we ended a very relaxing day, filled with the memory of this primitive yet exotic wadi still very vivid.
